Bintaro House private housing architecture + interior
bintaro house
a house for a couple who loves the outdoors and wants to bring the outdoors into the comfort of their indoor home-sweet-home.
massing
concept
A minimalistic house designed for a couple of adrenialine junkies who spends most of their weekends out and about on the outdoor scene-ries. Wanting to bring the outdoors to the comoft of their home-sweet-home, we created a semi-outdoor concept that lets in natural air circulation throughout the space with a courtyard in the middle. To fulfill their daily needs of adrenaline pump, they asked for a corner of a climbing wall inside.

An attempt to conser ve the values and forms of traditional architecture to be incorporated to a newly perspected building in the era of modern-minimalistic style architecture. This building tries to incorporate the intricacy of the roof of Toraja’s traditional house, Tongkonan, that has this cer tain cur ve and slant, and making it into a minimalistic form by adding and substracting from its original shape. The two building mass resembles the two sides that the Tongkonan’s roof has, and the slanted shape one of it has resembles the original shape of the roof itself, but minimalized. The two building mass has different shape, color, and size, it resembles how everything in this world, ar t especially, can be seen in so many different ways depending on how the person sees it, or might be said, depending on where the perspective is taken. Each perspective has it’s own understanding, it’s own picture and presentation, and each perspective itself might be recieved differently to different people. You can’t really see every single perspective and say in definite that a cer tain thing is right or wrong, it’s just a matter of how you see it. The building tries to capture the traditional essence of Tongkonan traditional house, but it also tries to tell a story. Tries to create a perspective.
Smith Studio architecture home-office
smith studio home-office
a space where dwelling and working is merged in one building without taking away the comfort of home
The site is located in Kemang, South Jakarta, Indonesia with site area of 450 sqm, 3 GFA, a 40% BCR, also with 5 m setback from the main road and 1.50 m setback from the side, with the maximum layer of 3 layers. The site is facing the south. The sun rises from its east to the west. With that, the mass of the house is mostly on the west side to cover the outdoor area from the heat of afternoon sun light and putting the open spaces on the east side to get the morning sun. This house has a planned zoning areas that seperates work life and personal life without having to cut apar t the building mass. The building has 3 different privacy zoning. Front par t on the first level is for public area which also located the architecture studio where the employees could come and go right from a seperate access directly to the studio from the side par t of the house, while the home residence access from the main front door directing to the corridor which leads to the living room of to the stairs that leads to 2nd and 3rd floor of bedrooms.
Home is a dwelling-place used for an individual, family, household, or several families in a tribe. It is often a house, apar tment, or other buildings. While office is a room, set of rooms, or a building used as a place for commercial, professional, or bureaucratic work. Thus, home office is a work or office space set up in a person’s home and used exclusively for business on a regular basis. This house is used for both purposes, so it has to ser ve both ambiance, comfor t and profesionalism. The style it takes is minimalistic. The combination of plain white painted walls, classic brown from the woods, and the rustic touch of exposed polished concrete makes the space feel comfor table and crisp at the same time.
