Concept Design

Headquater Architecture

Hainan, China

ProjectOverview

The CNPC Hainan Headquarters, located in the Jiangdong New Area of Haikou City, aligns with China’s Hainan Free Trade Port strategy and supports CNPC's regional business growth The design combines modern office spaces with advanced sustainability, creating a landmark that reflects CNPC’s identity as a leading state-owned enterprise while emphasizing environmental responsibility

This project is not just an office building it’s a forward-thinking example of sustainable design, integrating energy efficiency, green materials, and natural elements to showcase CNPC’s commitment to progress and sustainability

DesignStrategy

The design maximizes site potential with a high plot coverage layout, creating a spacious central courtyard that extends the urban green axis from the southern park to the northern coastline Adapting to Haikou’s climate, lush greenery enhances the space, forming a natural oxygen hub. Public areas, including lobbies and cafés, are seamlessly integrated into the courtyard, fostering a garden-like work environment. The roof gently rises from north to south, forming multi-level sea-view terraces that offer diverse spaces for relaxation and scenic enjoyment.

By analyzing the skyline of adjacent coastal buildings, we leverage the site’s advantages by treating the two plots as a unified entity rather than separate spaces. The architectural form enhances unity, transforming constraints into strengths. Our goal is to maximize the building’s viewing surfaces and observation platforms while ensuring a distinctive, iconic presence from the sea, setting it apart from the surrounding structures

Site Plan

LayoutAnalysis

The north side opens to sea views, extending into multi-level green terraces that integrate with the architecture, creating an ecological space The vertical layout combines service, office, and public functions, with the ground floor accessible to the public Two main volumes at the ground level are connected by a corridor, while a floating second-level platform links the spaces, forming a seamless urban interface

North Aerial View

SustainableDesign

Given Haikou's abundant rainfall, the building is surrounded by a circular water basin that functions both as a landscape feature and as a means of rainwater reuse The structure employs a renewable steel framework and a modular curtain wall system, significantly reducing construction time while embodying ecological sustainability Additionally, the smart building control system integrates lighting, shading, HVAC, and security, enabling real-time energy consumption monitoring to maintain a balance between energy efficiency and high performance

Cultural Heritage Revitalization (Urban Park) Hebei, China

ProjectOverview

Our design for the MEI YUAN project in Chengde, Hebei, transforms an abandoned industrial site into a year-round ecotourism and cultural hub. Originally constrained by small building footprints and vast outdoor spaces, the site was reimagined to seamlessly integrate nature, culture, and commercial functionality

The central theme of the design is the plum blossom, symbolizing resilience, blending Eastern and Western cultural elements Key features include the Plum Blossom Museum, Wedding Chapel, Equestrian Center, workshops, commercial street, eco-dining areas, and a castle These spaces offer a mix of cultural and leisure experiences, all while maintaining a strong connection to the natural environment. We prioritized sustainability, incorporating energy-efficient systems, renewable materials, and green design strategies to minimize environmental impact and ensure year-round operation

The design balances cultural preservation with modern development, creating a dynamic, eco-friendly destination for all ages.

DesignStrategy

The project is set against a mountainous backdrop with significant elevation changes and a semi-developed site Existing buildings are scattered, disrupting spatial continuity. The design retains these structures while integrating new functions, optimizing the road network, and preserving railway elements Key challenges include managing elevation differences, reorganizing circulation, and ensuring architectural harmony with the surroundings The proposal addresses these by redefining site functions, stabilizing slopes, refining road layouts, and enhancing landscape integration to create a cohesive, functional environment.

Phaseone-East-WestFusion (CommercialStreet+Castle)

Through the study of the Town of Hallstatt and Annecy, we identified the design direction, drawing inspiration from their harmony with nature, cultural integration, and historical charm This vision aims to create a visually engaging and emotionally resonant space that balances tradition with modern functionality As an eco-themed destination, the project features a variety of photo-worthy spots, encouraging visitors to capture every moment The castle, as the iconic landmark, stands out with its exquisite façade, making it a must-visit for photography

The design concept of this section blends seasonal landscapes with art, offering visitors a unique experience throughout the year. The primary functions center around weddings and seasonal sightseeing The design fosters an eco-friendly, romantic atmosphere, with distinct settings for each season To enhance the winter experience, advanced technologies such as sound, light, and projections are incorporated

Church Rendering

This section acts as the town's cultural hub, rich in artistic ambiance In addition to serving as a sketching base for artists, it hosts exhibitions of renowned artworks and offers painting experiences. The space also provides cultural activities such as flower arrangement, winemaking, and tea ceremonies, drawing visitors from the cultural community to engage and participate

DesignStrategy

From our design perspective, the Ningde Commercial Complex Plaza seamlessly blends functionality, culture, and sustainability. Inspired by Taiji philosophy, we positioned office towers (Yin) and commercial spaces (Yang) around a central green plaza, creating a vibrant, 24/7 hub The design highlights cultural heritage through modern forms, with the "rising steps" towers symbolizing growth Eco-friendly features such as sponge city technologies and natural ventilation ensure the project's resilience More than a landmark, this project embodies Ningde’s future by balancing tradition, innovation, and community

The design concept for the supertall towers is inspired by the theme of "rising steps," symbolizing continuous growth and progress The towers taper gradually at refuge levels, creating a stepped silhouette that evokes the idea of "blooming sesame," while vertical lines emphasize their sleek, iconic presence The architecture is simple, using modern techniques to create a timeless design. At the top, the Four Seasons Hall offers a panoramic leisure space with stunning sea views during the day and transforms into a glowing beacon at night, visible from both the sea and the city, solidifying its role as a defining landmark in Ningde’s skyline

It offers a panoramic sea-view retreat by day and transforms into a luminous beacon at night an iconic addition to both the skyline and the waterfront.

FlexibilityofOfficeSpacesforRent

The commercial office complex consists of three towers, designed to offer maximum flexibility for tenants of varying sizes and needs.

Whole-floor: 1,263 sqm open-plan spaces

Modular units: 30–110 sqm for smaller businesses

Custom layouts: Tailored to tenant needs

This flexible leasing strategy ensures the complex can accommodate a diverse range of businesses, from growing startups to established enterprises, making it a dynamic hub for Ningde’s business community.
