What is the learner profile?
It s the IB mission statement translated into a set of learning outcomes for the 21st century.
IB learners strive to be: Inquirers Knowledgeable Thinkers Communicators Principled Open-minded Caring Risk-takers The attributes of the learner profile express the values inherent to the IB continuum of international education: these are values that should infuse all elements of the three programmes and, therefore, the culture and ethos of all IB World Schools.

Standard and Higher Level • Most IBDP subjects are offered at Higher Level (HL – 240 hours) and Standard Level (SL – 150 hours). • The HL courses involve more work than SL and the work tends to be more challenging with a greater depth focus. • Some UniversiIes recognise HL subjects as credit courses. • To achieve the IB Diploma a student must take either 3 or 4 HL subjects. • Students do not select their HL subjects unIl compleIng the first semester of Year 12. * Languages and Maths Excep2on
• Their progress will then be reviewed at the end of the first year of the IB programme and their HL subjects will then be finally selected. • HL and SL transfers are allowed during Year 2 of IBDP
Diploma vs Diploma Course Certificates • Failing Conditions ‒ Subject grades / Aggregate for HL subjects ‒ TOK / Extended Essay / CAS • University recognition of certificates • Determination of Diploma or Diploma Course Certificate standing in DP2 (Y 13)
Things to consider carefully • A Diploma will not be awarded if the total is less than 28 and: ‒ the student scores less than 12 in total in there three HL subjects ‒ Receives an F grade in TOK or Extended Essay
• Requirement for IB Diploma at TerIary InsItuIon eg. SAT scores and IBDP Course CerIficates
Bilingual Diploma • Awarded to students who successfully complete 2 languages from Group 1 • Complete subject from group 3/4 in a language different from nominated group 1 language
