WORKFORCE HOUSING
SUMMER2018
Integrated Comprehensive Design Professor: Juan Alayo Type: Mix-use Location: Liberty City, Miami The main idea of the project is to create a hybrid building proposal in Liberty City, Miami FL, that benefits the community living in this zone. The purpose is to develop a building that include permanent or transitional residential housing, commercial space, cultural and an innovation industry program. The design of the building integrates comprehensive architectural design that involves a developed structural, HVAC, plumbing, and lighting systems. During the design process it was taken in consideration Miami zoning, and property line codes in order to follow the site laws and regulations. The design also involves a small hydroponics systems on the permanent residential housing and a cultural place located on the commercial area, where people can learn about how to grow their own food though hydroponics use. Additionally there is an area designed for workshops where people can do art and learn about the culture of liberty city.

FALL 2018
Revit | Rhino | Keyshot | Lumion |Photoshop | In-Design
DESIGN 10 Professor: Jordan Trachtenberg Type: Mix-use Location: Edison Court in Little Haiti, Miami Group project: Yenifer Cordoba | Johana Mendoza
The main idea of the project was to create a Beckhams backup stadium that involved housing, a transportation hub, and an educational building on Little Haiti to benefit the community living in the zone. The purpose was to develop a building that include permanent or transitional residential housing, a sport space with commercial areas, and a cultural and an educational program. The design of the building needed to be an integrated comprehensive analysis and understanding of the zoning and property line.
|15
SITE ANALYSIS + DEVELOPMENT
We plot a middle point and divided the site into four zones to locate the future program of the design.
16|
Identified the main two areas of the site: Residential and Educational and divided the zones by rotating the main circle to create access points.
New access and points were created. Roads and roundabout placed.
The circle expands every 30’ to create new paths and spaces for the main vehicular circulation.
Spaces are divided into green areas drop off areas. Walkways and bike lines.

ATMOSPHERIC WATER PLACE
SUMMER 2017
DESIGN 7 Professor: Arnaldo Sanchez Type: Spa Location: Marjory Stoneman Beach Park, Miami Beach
LIVE, ENJOY AND REST The main idea of the project was to create an open place for the benefit of the community living around Beach Park. A place that people can enjoy without many restrictions. An atmospheric place where you can walk on the water or submerge in it.
|23
ANALYSIS + DEVELOPMENT
The main idea of the project was to create an atmospheric water space (or water park) that includes 6 treatment spaces related with relaxation and water conditions. As a first step of the project, an object from nature had to be chosen as an inspirational tool for the development of spaces. Investigating about some natural objects that could interact with water and tropical atmospheric conditions, I found a Colombian flower called Helliconia or most commonly known as fire opal that I could utilize as an inspirational object for my project because of the shapes and features. The opal flower is a tropical plant with a concave shape that holds raining water where it rains and it’s a plant that grows in humid areas. I utilized the concave shape of the flower to create the spaces that hold the relaxation treatments. Using repetition and symmetry I developed 6 pavilions that run linear with direction towards the beach. The pavilions are created with a pattern that allows the sunlight gets through and creates shadows that simulate ripples, creating the illusion to be under water.

RDF WINDOW PANEL
SUMMER2019
ROBOTIC DIGITAL FABRICATION (RDF) Professor: Hadi Alhaffar and Julian Ramirez Type: Interactive Panel Location: RDF Lab, College of Architecture, FIU Being inspired by the Japanese joinery, we studied different types of Japanese joinery. Selecting one of the types, we modified the Japanese joinery to create a paneling system with a geometrical pattern. After many atdesign tests, the final system chosen was based on a hexagonal shape and a semi-circular void in the middle. Every joinery was developed with a channel with the intention to include an LEED system to give a night functionality to the panel.

-Intent: Our design proposal for the WYN27 Hotel and Retail building is a future-proof, visitor-centric approach to experiencing the urban fabric of Wynwood. Due to recent changes in the zoning of the Wynwood neighborhood, buildings are encouraged to form the mass parallel to the street, engaging directly to the urban fabric of Wynwood. The Facade is pushed and pulled to create shade and privacy, while allowing the hotel guest to feel as they are connected seamlessly to the energy of Wynwood. Over time the hotel spaces begin assimilate with the ever-changing Wynwood fabric. The hotel spaces are designed around a suite-terrace that opens completely making full use of the urban contextual relationship. In addition, the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services are stacked vertically allowing for large ceiling heights and efficient construction. Facing the street, this unique site has 3 urban frontages - the commercial and retail areas extend the urban concept up and through the building, providing the surrounding area with much needed programmable space to support the bourgeoning district. -Intent: Trachtenberg’s examination of this property lead to a concept driven by parking and destination retail. The element of interlocking floor plates with cross-access retail offices allows a new generation of retail to work seamlessly by way of design. With parking and office components integrated into the design, tenants in the building would find a mutually beneficial relationship.- (Trachtenberg///- 2100NMA project) The design integrates a valet parking system as a part of the commercial use and a captivating central courtyard design that provides natural ventilation and a special sense of serenity allowing nature to become a major part of the built environment.

-Intent: The Vision behind Helios was to reimagine Miami River South’s urban living and experience. Helios’ 51 residences are designed to have a balance of urban connectivity, community, and most importantly a sense of home. In close proximity to the dense urban core of Miami and transit connectivity the boutique living experience that Helios offers is a positive contrast to the hustle and bustle of the surround landscape.
