As a typology, churches are spaces of gathering, fellowship, and community. Plant Church is an educational community greenhouse which restores a place of gathering in a historically disenfranchised neighborhood.

空間の類型の一つとして、教会は集めること付き合うこ用、そして公共的な空間である。「植物教会」はこの長い間に差別して剥奪された町内で皆の使える集会所を戻すために設える公共的な教育温室でる。

Sharing Space is a music learning center designed around the concept of sharing as both its spatial and functional strategy. The architecture expresses the concept of sharing through a part-to-whole relationship in which nodes of "sharing spaces" stand out while belonging to a greater network. The building is composed of three programmatic blocks: the cafe, the library, and the auditorium. Each enables different modes of sharing while fluidly transitioning between each other.

「共用空間」は、シェアすることを空間原則と運営計画の原理をして設計した音楽教育中心である。シェアすることは、個別の練習室と全体的な構造の個体全体関係を通して表現された。さらに、この計画は三つの区画に画されている：カフェ、図書館、と講堂。各は違う形式のシェアを有効にするが、全体的な構造に流動的に繋がっている。

In this winery, the production and visitor sequences exist alongside the other and exhibit distinct spatial directionalites in response to the landscape; the former appears more linear and tunneled while the latter extends perpendicularly along its path.

The winery emerges from a prominent mound and extends its silhouette while framing, with the existing trees, a vineyard garden.

このワイナリーの生産動線と参観動線

は、地形に対応して、截然たる方向性に配置し並んでいる。生産動線は隧道っぽく

て配置されたが、参観動線が中廊下のように、生産空間を向こう側の地形と縫い合わせる。丘から緩やかく出現したワイナリはブドウ畑を囲む。

This project argues that prisons are supposed to rehabilitate as much as they incarcerate. To achieve rehabilitation, it is proposed that cities should be situated within urban centers in order to faciliate reintegration into society. For the public, the urban prison is a visible manifestation of justice which is transparent and participatory.

いわゆる監獄は、犯人を更生するために建てられているはずなのに、この任務は野外にある監獄にとって難しい。だからこそ、この監獄は都会に設けると提案する。都会には、犯人らの社会に慣れるようになれる機会が野外より多い。さらに、社会にとって、こんな監獄は正義と更生することは一層透明にならせて、そして社会の皆さんのために確立した正義は皆さんの責任になれる。民主主義の社会にとって、それは大事なことなんだ。

The Old Billingsgate Building currently operates as an event venue, isolated from public life and acting as a barrier to the waterfront. This renovation reintegrates the building into public life while enhancing its current function. The west half of the building is carved out and converted into a garden acting as a corridor to the waterfront. The building's riverside plaza is also redesigned to reflect the change within the building.

DIVISION OF WORK

A base model of the existing building was provided by my colleagues as part of assigned site research. All images shown have been produced primarily by myself, unless otherwise stated. The project shown has been further edited by myself postsemester.

既存の歴史的な建物は今イベント会場であって、公共社会から孤立されて、ロンドンをウォーターフロントから分離しまった。昔は市場であった建物にとっては、なんか皮肉なことだ。この改修は、今の功能性一層高める上に、建物を街へ開く。

具体的に言えば、建物は全体の半分ぐらい、西の部分は刻みだして、街と川を繋がる廊下に変えて、中廊は適応性のある見廊に変換した。最後に、川側の広場も、新たな変更に応えて設計し直した。

仕事の分割

既存の建物のディジタル模型は同僚が提供した。ここで表してる画像はすべてほとんど私の作ったもので、例外があれば個別に述べる。ここで表示してる設計は学期が終わってから自分で修正したものなんだ。

This public recreation center is designed to merge two lines of circulation. One is a groundlevel boulevard and the other is an elevated train track which has been repurposed into a walkway. The program has been grouped into discrete clusters which are arranged along two major circulation branches, all of which are supported by massive steel box trusses.

このレクリエーションセンターは二つの流通線を併合することに中心をして設計された。一つは地面の大通り、もう一つはそれと垂直な高架歩道。プログラムは、安静とアクティブという二つのグループにまとめて、それぞれの「箱」にして、巨大な鋼のトラスに支持されている空中歩道に沿って配布されている。

Four representative slices were extracted and represented in high-fidelity isometrics. The slice demonstrating the connection between the existing elevated walkway and the new structure has been enlarged.

代表的な塊を四つ選んで描いた。拡大された塊は既存の高架歩道と新のデザインとの継ぎ目。

The "boxes" are composed of a steel frame clad in rigid insulation and aluminum panels. Thermal breaks are installed at the connection points between the boxes and steel superstructure.

前述の「箱」はアルミパネルと硬質断熱材に覆われている鉄骨構造である。断熱パッドは下側と巨大な鋼のトラスの接続点に使われている。

To account for the 600ft span of the complex, a decentrilized HVAC strategy was adopted. While most rooms employ VAV systems, the double-height gymnasium uses a radiant ceiling system.

600フィートの全長のため、分散化HVAC 系統を選んだ。ほとんどの箱はVAV系統を使っているが、特に巨大なジムは輻射天井パネルを使用する。

A series of 1/12 scale miniature furniture designed and built by me purely for recreational purposes. A variety of materials are used to achieve desired effects, including walnut wood, cherry wood, basswood, polyester plates, foamcore, and fabric.
