So I read Some where that Students + Dying = Studying, Pretty true hey. After Uni this is probably one of the only equations you will remember, plus the million relentless drinks you downed the night before a deadline and the shakes you have afterwards. So Wolf sent out a few briefs to several different art and design

universities across the UK, asking students to provide us with a few pages of their portfolio so far, to get them kick started into the so called ‘real world’.

We have a selection of Photography, illustration, graphics, fine art... Hope you like what you see, there is some awesome talent in here. Thank you to all the students who participated. If any students are interested in showcasing their work in the magazine go on to www.wolfmagazine.eu and click on open briefs to have a look if anything screams your name.

Dead Will Rise

Back in the mid-90’s right, when we had all those US imports like Mountain Dew on our shelves, you could get these tubs of raw cookie dough you could buy, roll into shapes and then bake to make the best tasting cookie ever. You could also eat it out of the tub but there was this rumour going round that you’d get salmonella and die instantly which put most people off.

Anyway, my Mum used to give me one of these freshly baked cookies in my packed lunch everyday at first school. Then this one day, this dude stole my cookie at breaktime and ate it to hide the evidence. I’ve never forgotten this. If you’re reading this Dean, me and you have unfinished business. The moral of this story is never, never let your cookie out of your sight. Right: We’ve gone and revamped one of our most popular products making it the best ‘classic’ style we’ve released to date. Hot damn. This killer unisex tank works great for guys and girls looking for an oversized, baggier fit. Tee £17

It seems these two having a cuddle in someones kitchen has become a bit of an image associated with our brand, so we thought how awesome it would be if we could print it on a shirt. So we did. Personally, i think this dude is telling this chick about what a big shot he is and inviting her to a pool party on his boat in Monte Carlo. Saying that, he might just of had one too many of those cocktails and fallen asleep on her shoulder. Tee £16

pro’s and young fashionista’s) the event kicked off to showcase local designers/ graduates who have an affiliation with the area or who attended AUCB. Encompassing two collections and four tshirt lines ‘He’s in Fashion’ is Bournemouth’s first all menswear fashion event, and if I’m honest its about time too.

what they do and what they do is loved by their followers. To finnish off the night London based, jack -of -all -design -trades, Jason Devine showcased a delightful selecion of illustrated tees. The whimsical graphics were reminicinet of a french film noir and encompassed his signature running theme of monsters coupled with mustaches, beards, stripes and bowler hats. I’m making it sound dainty and cute but it wasn’t at all- his monochromatic and sharp drawing style is very representative of today’s web of fresh-blooded illustrators. I can’t imagine any girl resisting this generally cute (but don’t get me wrong, its still manly!) combo on a guy. We all know the plain white tee is hot, but with these little doodles on the chest its just even hotter! I’ll conclude shortly and sweetly that these tshirts are fit and Devine’s imagination is literllay, just devine.

half to make. Bake says ‘ We’re not trying to change the world. We just wanted to make clothes that people like and want to wear. Simple.’ Its the type of old school attitude designers should take heed of. ‘Simple’ isn’t a word one can use often when commenting on fashion and on the rare occasion it may be to a designer’s detriment, but contrary to this, Hasking has captured his own ethos in his t-shirt range making it a purchasable product for everyday wear. Next up was Ditto, a brand designed by Mike Foster (who also made a model appearance on the runway for the show). He illustrated designs on jumpers, tshirts and bags have featured in Grazia magazine. His influences derive from the underground rave scene and has joined forces with Yoghurt Warrior, the next featured designer. I think my excitment for Yoghurt Warrior’s line stems from the juicy mix DJ sharkbait hung out to dry when all the tshirt lines waded down the catwalk. Its clearcut to see where their inspiration comes from and who the target audience are; the cool grimey kids

who want to sweat like freaks in the dance pit till the early hours. This Bournemouth resident DJ come designer, Jimmy Herrtage, along with illustrator Mike Foster, have produced a small yet token line for the electro/ garage/ dubstep/baseline/ hiphop-listeneing kids. There’s no question that these hoodies and tshirts are going places; they’ve been sported by DJ’s all along the south coast. The actual graphics on this line ‘might’ reference naughty things only party animals of this genre are familiar with, but seriously, if a designer/DJ find’s his niche with followers then he needs to represent its identity. Its the type of out loud anarchy that we haven’t seen since the eieghties and its also the sort of repertoire most artists and DJ’s indulge in. The outcome is a type of egoism that’s attractive on a t-shirt, summing up Yoghurt Warrior. All the designers are their t-shirts. They are living and breathing representation of their designs- they draw what they want to wear, and have channeled the underground art and music scene as a source of inspiration. It’s not an original coupling for the two industries to influence each-other, its an organic symbiotic relationship that these designers are channeling because they love

By getting the designers to exhibit their work on a catwalk as well as set up booths where merchandise could be inspected/ purchased gave the event a sense of intimacy as well as some much need exclusivity. It was professional but fun, a hard mix to throw into a fashion event but the ingredients of t-shits showcased were the perfect yummy recipe for a well spent night.
