Case Studies Case Study A programme supporting a major UK Financial Institution: The objective was to test the continuity, crisis management and security preparedness. Following initial diagnostic work, we designed and conducted a series of exercises which were delivered in the 7 main UK premises used by the client. In all cases the scenarios were developed to include both local and area incident simulations to add specific and realistic threats reflecting the current security and terrorism environment. Primarily the scenario’s focused on identifying overall contingency and continuity plan weaknesses along with assessing communication and escalation procedures between different levels of the organisation. The exercises uncovered a number of unidentified vbinterdependencies and unknown flaws which collectively amounted to significant risks to the business. For the client, extensive evaluation reports and remedial action plans were provided which highlighted the strategic changes that were necessary to ensure that their businesses became more robust in the longer term. Following this successful programme a long term partnership now exists with this client through annual audits and themed mitigation programmes.

Case Studies Case Study Business Continuity and Crisis Management Team Training: This case study demonstrates our extensive capabilities in the delivery of training and structured exercises to a client in the financial services sector. In this example we conducted a training needs analysis, designed an L & D programme comprising a range of inputs and differing delivery mechanisms and then evaluated the outcomes using our Resilience Assessment Process (RAP Ž). The programme consisted of training for the core facilities management team and the businesses Crisis Management Team in both business continuity and crisis management techniques. 14 business units were then exercised using their individual BCP’s to test both content against four scenarios and to familiarise staff with internal procedures in the event of a significant business interruption (SBI) and their performance was scored against agreed criteria. The Crisis Management Team and FM department were then exercised to create leadership and crisis coordinating capacity. Ultimately an alternative site with failover facilities for both a data centre and workplace recovery seating was used in further exercises to test all business units and teams ability to effectively respond to an SBI and recover the businesses within the agreed recovery time objectives (RTO’s).
