“The course I studied at Yeovil College was the next stepping stone to get me to where I wanted to be in the future. It gave me a great understanding of performing, not just onstage, but backstage as well. If you’ve got a tough skin and you’re talented, you’ll do well.” - Jonny Purchase, Former Yeovil College Student and West End Superstar

APPRENTICESHIPS An Apprenticeship is whatever your employer and you agree it should be; it can be a first step on the career ladder or it can be a Degree Apprenticeship with the same degree and graduation you would have if you followed the traditional route and paid your £9,000 per year fees. The big difference is that you get paid as you learn and someone else pays all of the training fees, including the £9,000 per year degree fees. Apprenticeships are changing and on May 1st 2017 the Government’s Apprenticeship reform plan went live. This means that there are more and better Apprenticeship opportunities than ever before and with more than 40% of the new Apprenticeships at Higher and Degree Levels, it really is the right time to re-think how you are going to embark on your career; come in and to talk to us.
14. yeovil.ac.uk
As an employee, your employer now has more opportunity than ever before to support it’s workforce development, the opportunities are incredible; for example you could be studying a Degree Apprenticeship in Chartered Management and that would cost your employer as little as £600 per year and only £1,800 in total. One of our team would be delighted to visit you or your employer so that you can find out more. Why choose Yeovil College? We offer a friendly, personal experience providing outstanding support for both our learners and employers. We work with over 800 employers to provide a wide range of quality Apprenticeship opportunities and offer excellent advice and guidance to those looking to find an Apprenticeship. Getting started Our Apprenticeship team is made up of Apprentice Recruitment Officers whose role it is to work intensively with potential apprentices to help them find their ideal job and get them ready for it. We also have a team of Employer Engagement Consultants who are out in the business community, working with employers to create amazing opportunities for both new apprentices and existing staff to develop their careers and create the best workforce.
What does it involve? Your place of work becomes your classroom. Our Apprenticeship learners are based with their employers during the week and are typically released on either day-release or block release to attend College. What next? Most Apprentices choose to undertake a Higher Level Apprenticeship with us once their course has completed and in fact 93% of Yeovil College Apprentices remain with their employer or are promoted after their Apprenticeship has finished. Supported by employers We are supported by some fantastic employers, in fact we work with more than 800 local and national employers to deliver the very best on-thejob training. Our employer partners tell us what skills and knowledge they require from their apprentices and we are able to incorporate these requirements into our courses.

Night School courses are supported by our best and most creative people who not only provide you with a fantastic and interactive learning experience, but deliver superior training in bespoke and industry approved environments. They want a bitesize course that is not only priced correctly, but is delivered in a mature learning environment. So we’ve listened and that’s exactly what we have created in our short, simple, bitesize chunks of learning. There is an interesting range of courses on offer, which are very different from our usual portfolio, available from 5 weeks ‘just for fun’ college programmes to 30 weeks on our stepping stones programme. Where else do you get the chance to learn how to sell unwanted items on eBay, develop manicure and pedicure skills or take your first steps into Construction & Building Services. If you’ve always wanted to start-up your own business or learn how to make a movie, then we have something for you. Courses start from just £25 and if there’s something you’d be interested in that we haven’t thought of yet, just let us know and we’d be happy to take a look at running it.
