SHARED WORKSPACES UNDERSTANDING CO-WORKING CULTURE

guides: Prof. Vidyashankar. R Prof. Nelson Pais

STUDIO BRIEF: This studio involved exploring the concept of sustainability in the context of mysore and how that could be implemented in the planning of a layout. Taking from this , a public building was to be designed, that was based on various sustainability parameters, and catered to a large group of individuals in and around the city, looking to engage in temporary work culture. It all starts with understanding nature how does one experience the movement of the sun? When do you let sun enter the building? Should all seasonal winds enter the building?

03

In essence its the element that dictate how does one occupy a site or house a program and, understanding the archtecture involved in designing co-working spaces.

Mysore

A MUDA Layout in kuvempunagar, Mysore was documented, analysed for shortcomings, and re-planned based on six sustainable planning principles namley, climate,Hydrology, Arboriculture, Infrastructure, Mobility and walkability. Each group came up with a few rules under each parameter like- no cutting trees, water as an anchor, inclusive assessibility, connecting the urban communities, etc that all the groups had to incorporate in their plan.

04

- site analysis to the selected contextual precints - Along with existing built structures within Site how does one strategies with the suitable typology using re-adaptive or re purposing stratergy.

G R A S S R O O TS RELATED STUDY PROGRAM Community oriented Lakkundi, Karnataka

guides: Prof. Anand chalwadi Asst. Prof. Pallavi Dhomse

STUDIO BRIEF:

07

The main aim was to understand how a village has grown and developed over the years and to understand its aspects like history, culture and its people. It was a deeper dive into strong sense of community and how the village and its people have evolved in the course of time. Understanding and documenting the village helped to understand vernacular architecture and use of materials in multiple form. we had oppurtunity to live among the villagers, entering into their humble adobe, having conversations and interactions, understanding their routines was the best experience. Understanding local building typologies, habitation typologies, stratagies used in construction, climate and its role were all looked in form a very fine detailed lens.

Lakkundi, the village has been pivotal to understand the nuances of birth of construction techniques based on the avialable material, reacting to the climate and understanding origin of a colour in a village. LAKKUNDI This place falls under hot and dry climate, the village relies on agriculture and famously known for its 1000 temples. The city has a population of 12000 people and like any other village has a organic spread of the house and street stitch along as the houses are built right next to each other.
