welcome to yestermorrow B: main building - formerly the Alpen Inn, now home to our studio, woodshop, dorm rooms, library, kitchen, dining room and main offices.

C: greenhouse + herb garden - structure designed and built by our team of interns in 2020. D: earthen oven - oven and timber frame built by the 2021 Natural Building Certificate class. E: slate cabin - three-season cabin designed by Home Design/Build in 2005. relocated and rebuilt in 2010-2012 with re-purposed slate, cellulose insulation and reclaimed windows.

F: strawbale cabin - summer lodging constructed by interns, Home Design/Build and Strawbale Design/Build classes in 2000. strawbale base is finished with a combination of two cement-based layers and a layer of earthen plaster with a limewash topcoat. G: trilithon - the symbolic gateway to our camping area and trail system is a wood and strawbale structure built in 2001, with a living roof added later. H: fabric-formed concrete - experimental structure created in 2009 by fabric mold, a technique that lends itself to a range of shapes, creates thermal mass and reduces formwork. I: tent platforms - first platforms built by instructor Gio Susini in 1998. J: composting toilet - low maintenance mouldering toilet built by Home Design/Build in 2001. K: bunkhouse - hostel-style living designed and framed by the 2019 Semester in Design/Build. completed fall 2021 with the help of staff, students, instructors, interns and local professionals.

L: timber frame cabin - designed by Josh Jackson and a team of interns, this structure was constructed by a Timber Framing class using locally harvested hemlock and pine with campus-harvested curved yellow birches. Insulating strawbales, coated in a limestone wash, were installed in 2003; slate salvaged from Vermont barns covers the roof.

M: chalet - built in 1960, the current home of Yestermorrow’s interns and teaching assistants was once the main office and wood shop. renovations through the years made by Carpentry for Women, Modern Plaster and Natural Building Certificate programs.

N: vegetable garden and shed - this space is home to the fresh vegetables grown and harvested by the Yestermorrow kitchen crew. the round shed structure with an earth bag base features cob walls with natural lime plaster and lime wash walls constructed by a 2007 Earth Structures class; roof built in 2008 by intern Josh Koppen.

O: carrot shed - a remnant of the Alpen Inn, this structure was moved and renovated in 2008 with the addition of cob-filled walls with a lime and plaster top coat, two custom-built doors and a hand-carved carrot - hence the name.

P: hangar and barn - fabric structures used for class projects and storage.

Q: solar-heated kiln - designed and built by interns in 2018, this structure utilizes solar energy to dry campus-harvested timbers to be used in future classes.

R: timber frame wood storage shed - designed by interns in 2019, with construction completed by Natural Building Certificate and Certificate in Residential Design and Construction classes.

S: the snail - bus stop structure designed and built by the 2001 Neighborhood Design/Build class. relocated and renovated back to campus in 2020 with help from an AARP Community Challenge grant.

T: the arches - multi-use space with arch-shaped foundation that was once part of the Alpen Inn. A 2018 Timber Framing class cut and raised the current structure that is used as an open-air studio and class space.

U: solar trackers - seven AllSun Trackers, installed in 2010 in partnership with AllEarth Renewables, rotate with the path of the sun to maximize efficiency. Updated in 2022, they now generate 49,000 kW hours per year and provide 100% of the campus’ energy.

yestermorrow path - a segment maintained by Mad River Path, an organization dedicated to building, maintaining and conserving a system of continuous public pathways connecting Warren, Waitsfield, Fayston and Moretown.

hiking path - wooded walking path that leads to three-season student housing options and tent platform sites. tent sites - a mix of flat spaces and wooden platforms available for seasonal tent camping as the weather allows. parking
