LUXE AGENDA
It’s time to make an appointment with the finer things in life! Modern luxists know that organising some ‘me’ time is essential to the pursuit of happiness—there is, after all, no point in having things when you don’t have the time to enjoy them. There are merits to taking the idea of the luxe agenda quite literally. It forces us to see luxury as a necessity, something to make time for. It lets us take a hard look at our busy lives and allows us to take a step back from it, to—dare I say it—enjoy ourselves, reenergise ourselves before getting back into the game. Put that way, luxury becomes something we can allow into our lives a little more regularly—and why ever not? We’ve worked hard enough for them. So why not take the day off and immerse yourself in the experience? A magnificent timepiece, an outfit du jour, a gold clutch, bespoke hair treatments, a fab tote, fine skincare—these are things that can add a luxurious pick-me-up to an otherwise ordinary day. Here, Marie Claire has put together a date book filled with great ideas on how to ensure that pursuit is well savoured. In between, there are quick tips and reminders on how to preserve those well-deserved accoutrements. Bookmark them, pen them in. Most importantly, enjoy them!

FINE TIMING Make your luxury timepiece last for years to come with these essential care techniques
Longines Saint-Imier Collection
PROPER MAINTENANCE Like every other piece of complex machinery, a luxury watch requires regular maintenance to keep your watch running smoothly. In general, a mechanical watch should be serviced every two or three years while a quartz watch should be serviced every three to four years to assure perfect time keeping.
This can damage the key components of the watch, causing the watch to function incorrectly or stop working altogether.
HANDLE WITH CARE Make sure you handle your luxury watch with the utmost care in order to preserve the pristine condition of your watch. Dropping your watch or exposing it to shocks and impacts will throw off the movement of your watch, causing it to lose its precision.
STAY AWAY FROM CHEMICALS Avoid all contact with harsh chemicals when wearing your luxury watch. Take your watch off if you’re doing household chores that involve heavyduty chemicals and solvents. They can cause discolorations and slow deterioration, especially on materials like leather.
ESCHEW EXTREME TEMPERATURES While luxury timepieces are meant to last a lifetime, you should be careful not to expose your watch to extreme temperatures such as high heat environments or extremely cold temperatures.
AVOID WATER It’s best to remove your watch if you’re going to be working around water even if your watch is water resistant or waterproof. Bear in mind that water is capable of penetrating into the glass or gaskets.

with sleek, sharp silhouettes with accentuated shoulders and waistlines, boxy blazers, sci-fi sweatshirts, sheer chiffon dresses, tapered metallic trousers and A-line skirts with double front panels. Futuristic prints, modish patterns and bold tones also made a dominating appearance on the runway. For accessories, we spotted an edgy array of ankle boots, strappy sandals, short gloves and boxy satchel bags. The latest collection managed to strip workwear of its humdrum element and turn it into a sartorial fantasy of its own. A perfect blend of sophistication and seductiveness, the F/W12 collection definitely doesn’t disappoint. Balenciaga’s F/W12 collection plays on three themes: AFTER HOURS Referencing After Hours by Martin Scorsese, this wardrobe takes women from office to party with a juxtaposition of ultra-feminine pieces and masculine basics. OFFICE ORGANISATIONAL CHART This theme makes direct reference to a woman’s wardrobe based on her career. Company dress codes are cleverly played out in a series of interpretations.

THE PERFECT SCENT Unravel the secrets to choosing your signature scent this season
SCENTS
Christian Dior once said, “A woman’s perfume tells more about her than her handwriting.” This especially holds true as the choice of one’s perfume says a lot about one’s personality. Perfume is not just merely a fragrance; it harnesses the power to conjure the most intimate memories in inexplicable ways. Every woman needs her own signature scent that represents who she is. FLORAL FANTASY The most feminine of the fragrance aisle, floral scents have always been a firm favourite among women because of its distinctive feminine appeal. Floral fragrances include notes like rose, jasmine, orchid and tuberose.
CITRUS CHARM Citrusy fragrances explode with zesty notes like orange, lemon, tangerine and mango, and are usually combined with floral notes to create an invigorating fragrance. Crisp, fresh and easy to wear, these scents are the perfect pick-me-up.
ORIENTAL OBSESSION Rich and exotic, these fragrances are typically composed of a piquant mix of spices, vanilla, precious woods and exotic florals laced with ethereal wisps of incense or kissed with soft musk.
WOODY WHISPERS Infused with an alluring cocktail of cedar, vetiver, patchouli and sandalwood, woody scents boast a long-lasting aroma. The effect is a bold yet mysterious scent that evokes your inner seductress.
