EX NIHILO NIHIL FIT “NOTHING COMES FROM NOTHING” Packing our schoolbags to the brim with textbooks and emerging from four long months of self-imposed isolation, we return to our onerous daily routines as normalcy prevails once again. This comes as a renewed opportunity for productive contributions, albeit at the expense of reduced traffic carbon emissions from the daily commute. Evident for a council that holds pragmatism and transparency in high esteem, our journey to increase the profile of sustainable solutions commences anew. Emphasising the importance of systemic change, amongst other things, we extend our hearty appreciation to those who ensured the smooth continuation of operations, against all odds amidst these unprecedented times.

WORDS FROM THE CHAIRPERSON The Council has always prioritised education and spreading awareness. While we have had major success in fundraising and implementing actionable projects, it is to the leadership council and my regret that in the past we have not been fulfilling our commitment to the education of our community to the best of our ability. When the COVID-19 pandemic caused a lockdown and our normal operations halted, I was pleased to seize the opportunity to jumpstart an online education initiative, which I hope will be fun, engaging and approachable for everyone. The project, operated under head of Education Riki Kobayashi, worked on the motto ‘from youth for youth’. I have constantly monitored the progress of the groups, working closely with group leaders and pushing them to take their project to the next level. In this journey, despite many setbacks, I have found myself humbled, inspired and refreshed by the maturity, initiative and professionalism shown by the teams. I hope you will all join me in celebrating the launch of the project, which is nearing its completion, and give the work of your peers, your friends, your family a chance.
