Dignified aging in place

growing old with achievement, social interacon, safeness and qualied housing. Seniors choose to grow old at home with mulple reasons. It could be owing to the deep bond and affecon with their own places, the doubul-qualied of nursery home in Taiwan or the label of deseron by their own kids when living in care center. These are common issues for older people. Therefore, aging in place has been a maer nowadays. This project focuses on three prime users - the caregiver (foreign helper), the paent (male host) and the both caregiver and potenal care receiver (female host), which aims to increase the living quality by analyzing the users’ background, house current situaon and barrier-free applicaon. The design would be developed to adjust two flows, caring flow and living flow , providing users a place with dignity and love.

Without increasing the size of the girder, the goal of reducing the percepon of volume and enriching the space was achieved by creang a slanted ceiling with irregular width, expanding from the highest point to the lowest point of the girder. Indirect lighng was included to enhance the warmth of the space. Origin

Two sets of folding doors make the spaces more flexible. When the doors were all closed up, a quiet and indepandent reading area was formed. When the doors were fully opened, a wide and open dinning area was showed. Paerned glass was chosen in order to keep the privacy of users in the reading room and blur the mess on the desk.

The sliding showcase which was aached with the shoescase could be fully spread out when the distribung box was not in use on a daily basis.

The half-height shoecase could separate foyer and inner area in order to keep the privacy, but would not narrow the space.

Flexibilty was the goal of our design. The bookcase was compable with MUJI different kinds of storage boxes.
