POWER-UP Adaptive reuse of Pasir panjang power station in Singapore

09/2019-06/2020 Thesis work Superviser : Prof. Laura Daglio The project responds to the competition called the “Power-up Pasir Panjang- Ideas Competition” in Singapore. Since the competition has consisted of two parts, “re-imagining the power district” and “repurposing a heritage power station”, this project is related to the general topic of the adaptive reuse of existing infrastructures and heritage energy constructions. The aim of the thesis is to create strategies and proposals for the development this power district for the next 15-20 years. Starting from the research of contemporary solutions and approaches related to the adaptive reuse of its infrastructure, the proposal stand on the analysis of the urban context of Singapore and the power district’s own problems and potential. A new masterplan proposal is provided for the renovation of the entire site, with post-industrial landscape and soils remediation reconnecting it with the existing green infrastructure of the southeast area of Singapore. Then the focus is moved on to the abandoned power plant for a more detailed proposal . Through transforming the former turbine hall and boiler hall into a public space, the old power plant is reactivated as an Art Plant offering to artists, performers and public usages.

AMATERICE BETWEEN PAST AND FUTURE Reconstruction after the Earthquake on Central Italy

09/2017-02/202018 Professor: Stefano Boeri Groupmates: Marta Vitali, Napoli Theo, Song Mengjiao, Xu lingyang “Amatrice between the past and the future” is a project meant to deliver a new urbanistic flexible proposal to the amatrician citizens. The primary goals of this project are also our concepts: The very first one is to secure the whole residencial village territory from a geographical point of view (for example avoid the risks of another earthquake, understand the sliding processes of the territory). Another goal is to give the amatricians what they want: a new “borgo”, that means a new identity that respects the way Amatrice was before. The project also wants to relaunch Amatrice with new activities and a whole new working project based on technology and agriculture. Every task is intended to value the gothic treasure that Amatrice has always been, by making the historical path our principal guide line for the project. The union of those overmentioned tasks and goals becomes, from an urbanistic point of view, the sliding of amatrices decumano, the building of a containing wall to “protect them all” in a kind of embracing gesture, the composition of a “new borgo” by maintaining as much as possible general urban medioeval structures, the relaunch of the interests in visiting and the quality of life.

TETRIS Modular building

Alderman Rd & Edmonton Rd, Henderson, Auckland ,New Zealand 09/2019-10/2019 Groupmate: Zhuorui Tao The inspiration comes from a game called "tetris". This design takes modular assembly construction and urban farm as the starting point, and combines green energy-saving technology to build a lowcarbon and energy-saving community. The building structure uses steel structure frame with fixed modulus concrete prefabricated module. In residential units, we designed square boxes with 3.6 meters in length and 3.6 meters in height as basic functional modules. Each unit can allow households to form personalized units by overlapping and assembling modules at different times and under different needs. The establishment of urban farms also provides a rich communication environment for residents, offering gym, art workshops, mini gallery, cafe bar to enlive space.

FOOD HUB Architecture design - Food Hub in the South of Milan

02/2019-07/2019 Professor: Emilio Faroldi, Stefano Capolingo, Silvia Sbattella Groupmates: Huang Ruiqi, Ruzbeh Ghadrboland This project is located in the south of Milan, between the city and the suburbs, and is part of the medical city. The goal of this project is to provide a place for the citizens of Milan and the medical city to supply healthy food, promote healthy living, and provide a place to sell fresh seasonal agricultural products for the surrounding farms. The base is located in the center of the field with several irrigation canals around it. We took inspiration from the texture of the farmland, divided the site into long lots, where the building grows, hidden in the farmland, and integrated with the environment.

POLITEAMA Theater Transformation In Como , Italy Viale Felice Cavallotti, 1, Como CO 02/2018-07/2018 Professor: Pallini Cristina Groupmates: Luo Xi This theater was originally designed for opera, with an orchestra, stage and a huge backstage. With the decline of opera and the development of new stage art, theaters gradually declined due to their inability to adapt to their functions. The goal of this project is to update the theater, re-integrate the space and functions, and focus on transforming the backstage part to develop its potential, making the theater an attractive public space. Under the condition of protecting the traditional facade and structure from being destroyed, a new independent outer envelope structure was built, and modern glass materials were used to form a strong contrast. The backstage has become a new public stage, open to the public, and carrying a variety of possible activities. The newly-added long-distance running stairs connect each floor in series, and each floor can see everything happening on the stage through the atrium. The new stage and the old stage are like double lotus, separated by a transparent soundproof wall. When necessary, the soundproof wall is opened and the two stages can be combined into one.

CROSS THE RIVER Urban design of Hezhou in China

Location: Hezhou ,China Research Area:54 sq.km Design Area: 7.4 sq.km Intership works With the expansion of Hezhou metropolitan area, development become a foundation pattern and this area will become the new city center , it has to break the natural barrier that the He River rappresent as the southern boundary of the urban growth. Meanwhile, He River will also experience the change from Mother River, traditional way of transportation of goods, ecological protective screen, to the central nevralgic city stage. The site location is adjacent to the river. The project follows the chinese principle of “Water into the city, relies on the mountain to build cities,to consider the issue of the sustainable development from the entire basin and to build a new waterfront ecological network city.

SUSTAINABLE ECO CITY FRAMEWORK

Fourth level: green buffer in city boundary and urban arteries. Eco city framework strengthened the concept of “Access mountains and rivers, got mountain resource as main patch, make up of eco network with three, water system and riverfront greenbelt, then combination with road net and function ,create a favorable green space layout for citizen.

Third level: street garden connecting east to west mountain resources, greenway and public green space.

Second level: present mountain resources and the coastal wetland park

first level: He River, tributaries of the present situation and planning water system.

AMPHIBIOUS SPONGE CITY

He River encountered the flood disaster once every couple of years. The plan stop this process in different steps. The natural system with leisure and economical function will restore a natural cycle process, creating an absorbent and elastic amphibious sponge city.

INTERIOR DESIGN (Redesign & Hand drawing)

Villa la Califfa a Santa Marinella was designed by Architect Luigi Moretti . It is located closer to the sea and leaves a large garden space to separate it from the road.

Because the curve brings the soul of this building, in the interior design part, I

used curved walls to divide the interior space and organize new functions and flows. Part of the first floor slab was removed to allow light entering the small library in the basement. The large garden space has also been redesigned. The newly added outdoor theater, pool, and pavilion provide the possibility for rich holiday activities. Whether indoor or outdoor, the free-flowing curved walls will guide visitors to fully explore this mysterious villa.
