With an emphasis on the user experience, Holly wants to create space that promotes collaboration, communication, relaxation with nature. In order to enhance that experience, we focused on creating a pavilion that could adapt to Holly’s programmatic needs.

With Holly’s Hammock, we present something light, modular and flexible. The smaller side can be turned into an arrayed circle for more solo type events, while the bigger face might be centered around group exercises.
The other modules are flexible and can lock into a half position bench or a smaller solo seat to give more variety.

The first intervention takes place on the underground portions of the highway, where greenhouse nurseries, food labs, and educational exhibition spaces are placed. The food lab experiments with new farming techniques and creates high value products. Above the tunnel are view holes that look down into the farm’s pre-production processes so visitors may interact with the site as well.

The second intervention is on the elevated portion of the highway, of which the original structure is inaccessible to people. This is where the intensive farming takes place, in the form of fully automated greenhouse farming so labour and climate wouldn’t be a concern. Separate compartments are designed to store the produce, which is distributed to consumers and local restaurants through mobile vending machines.
