Dear Mr.Vanilla Dear Mr. Vanilla is a series of illustrations for children book inspired by the theme “Conquer Fear. I started the series three months after my grandmother passed away. Mr. Vanilla represents people we deeply loved but would never have a chance to meet again. The moon which the boy desires to reach symbolized the goal we once tried hard to achieve but eventually failed to accomplish ; the relationship we made great effort to maintain but end up with a broken-heart. Motivated by simple intensions at first, and we became incredibly brave and devoted to try every means to approach the goal. Gradually, we were frustrated by distance, complicated obstacles, and fatigue. In the end, we can only appreciate the target from far away. They remain glorious while we became mature and conquered the weakness in the process.

Sketch

The little boy. He wears a fishbowl and goggles all the time, and he dreams to be an astronaut.

He spent several years conquering acrophobia, with help from his owl friend.

Did you eventually go back to the moon? I can't find you here . " I want to be an astronaut ." I told them . Then one day we shall meet again. I borrowed a bowl from Ms. Goldfish last week because they said the first step to be an astronaut was to learn how to breath inside a bowl. I've been practicing hard for the whole week. I'm kind of getting used to breathing this way, but still not used to your absence.

But I am afraid of heights. I have to deal with this , Mr. Vanilla. Astronaut won't be afraid of heights. Neither do you , non?

It takes time to overcome the fear of heights. It takes time to reach you as well.

Dear Mr.Vanilla

Dear Mr. Vanilla, The Owl showed me this secret place yesterday. I have never been to the moon, but they told me it's quite similar here. Is it ? It's not high enough to reach you . I can feel the wind , as they pass by I can feel you too. Are you laughing ?

In the end , no matter how hard I tried , the distance between us remain and seems impossible to reach. Mr. Vanilla makes me realize that we are all stellar shinning in the dark night. Though revolving in different routes, we are both bright and gorgeous.

Serials of illustrations were printed on postcards and sold to support Syrian orphans.

The Moving Hedgehog The moving hedgehog came from a friend’s story. He is moving out from the city where he has lived for seven years. “Moving from one place to another makes me feel like my life being torn into pieces. The decision to move provided him with a new prospect to review the scenery and life style that he used to have. I was inspired by the paradoxical state of mind between the farewell of this familiar past and the welcoming of the unknown The unpredictable desire can be changed in a very short time, which makes me question about the existence of eternity.

Sketch The hedgehog represents individuals with a guarded personality showcasing an acute sensitivity toward the environment. “Moving from one place to another makes me feel like my life being torn to pieces. His words made me think of jigsaw puzzles. Our lives are all combinations of different pieces, and each piece represents a certain stage

Works On The Go I am not only interested in social enterprises engage issues with public but also enthusiastic about applying illustration as a gentle approach to raise public awareness on social changes.
