SONGDO INTERNATIONAL CITY LIBRARY Solomon Cordwell Buenz | Dec 2020 - Jan 2021 software: Rhino, Enscape, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign team: Yiren Weng, Uju Oh, Yihui Gan, Woei Low The design is aiming to exploring the new definition of library in the fast-changing information landscape. Public library has evolved and expanded its functions throughout the time from content-housing archive to user-oriented knowledge infrastructure. Library has evolved into an incubator of ideas. The library users switch roles between learner and creator consistantly in the new-age knowledge circle, driving the library towards an active platform that provides the public with the information, service, and tools that they need to practive and ultilize the knowledge. The future library would be defined by the learning, creating and collaboratting.

SONGDO INTERNATIONAL CITY LIBRARY (SDICL) WILL SERVE AS A FUTURE-PROOF URBAN INCUBATOR THAT ENGAGES PEOPLE NOT ONLY TO LEARN, BUT ALSO TO INTERACT AND CREATE.

PROGRAM SPECTRUM - UNITY OF THE OPPOSITE The changing roles as well as the expansion of library function lead to a variety of spaces with different requirements. The design explores the model of library that could accommodate the spectrum of the spaces, housing spaces from fixed, physical collection rooms, to activity-focused functions. The flexible future-oriented programs will allow the continuing evolution of the library and its users. The inherited needs of the programs informs the organizational strategies of the building.

RESTON GATEWAY - NXT Solomon Cordwell Buenz | April 2020 - Jan 2021 software: Revit, Enscape, Rhino, Rhino inside Revit Photoshop, Indesign The Reston is a new 864,000-square foot mixed-used residential and office development located in the new four million square-foot Reston Gateway Community. The four story, 80,000-square-foot floor plates and a generous indoor-outdoor co-working amenity space. The 39story tower and five-story residential components are connected by a shared amenity space on the fifth floor that features a community kitchen and bar space for entertaining with lounge seating , co-working space with conference rooms, and a roof deck pool and terrace. The residential tower offers 406 traditional style studio to three-bedroom units, while the lower residential building features 23 artisan/maker loft style units and three townhomes at the base of the building with a private connection to the public park.
