This remote monitoring service allows the doctor to monitor the patient’s CIED outside of the clinic setting. It is supplementary to clinic visits.

The patient is required to either buy a transmitter which is placed by the bedside, or download the vendor’s app (if available) on a smartphone, which then serves as the transmitter. The patient’s CIED will send heart rhythm data through the transmitter or app on a regular basis for doctors and medical technicians to review during office hours.

How much does this service cost?

• $216 per year

• Patient will be billed in January or February for yearly renewal of service

• Transmitters cost between $1000 - $2000

What are the benefits of the CIED Remote Monitoring Service?

• Earlier detection of heart rhythm abnormalities that require medical attention

• Track CIED function

• May reduce the number of clinic visits needed

Note

This service is not an emergency service. Please seek medical attention at the nearest hospital if the patient is unwell, or if they have experienced a shock from their CIED.
