My future When I was a primary school student,I liked filmmaking and I wanted to become a director in the future. As a result, I came to the UK to study film. I want to become a filmmaker like Steven Moffat, who has been the producer and screenplaywriter of Doctor Who since 2005, and Sherlock, too.I am looking forward to studying my main course, as well as making many new friends.
About me My name is Sharon, I am from China and in September I will attend an MA course in Filmmaking. Before I came to the UK, so many eople did not understand why I chose the UK instead of the USA to study filmmaking, because they thought the American film industry is the most developed one all over the world. Actually, the reason why I decided to study in the UK is because I like the style of British TV series, such as Sherlock, Whitechapel, Torchwood, especially Doctor Who, although the latter is not very famous compare to Sherlock in China, but I love it. I often joke saying I came to the UK, because of Doctor Who.
PSEAD course This summer, I came to UCA to improve my English academic skills. I learned so much in these 10 weeks. To tell you the truth, this language course is not as I had imagined. Before I attended the course, I thought the course would just focus on English, but it was more than that. We learned how to work with a group, how to write articles, how to stimulate inspiration and so on. We also visited London to complete projects. In this process, not only have we improved our learning ability and skills, but we have also made many friends from various parts of the world. I believe this is our biggest harvest.

My future Now, I am looking forward to my master course in September. My major goal is to expand my knowledge and learn about various techniques associated with animation. At the same time, I can make more friends, who love animation and come from different places around the world. Finally, this year will be a good chance for me to get familiar with the traditional British culture, which will give me inspiration for my work in the animation field.
About me When I was youngr, I had a keen interest in making up stories, and I spent many hours watching animation. So, my dream had always been to become a famous animation director, who would produce successful animation movies and videos, sharing my imagination and tale-telling passion with other people. Three years ago when I first visited Britain, I felt surprised and was attracted by the traditional British culture. So, I decided to return here, not only to study animation, but also to learn
PSEAD course The PSEAD course was a good starting point for me to get used to living and studying here. I was offered plenty of useful experiences, for example, I visited many British galleries, experienced a different education system, got prepared for group presentations and learned how to write essays and bibliography. I think the course did not only focus on developing our English skills, but it also taught me many studying skills and social abilities, which have boosted my self-confidence.
About me ďź‹ When I was a university student, I went to Germany as an exchange student for one academic semester. There, the way of making art and the viewpoints of other students and tutors about art were slightly different and that was very interesting for me. Also, I was excited to visit numerous exhibitions of artists from all over the world. As Japan is too far from the center of the art scene, I wanted to study abroad to be close to this art scene again.
PSEAD course I am here to improve my English before my main course, MA in Documentary Practice. At the beginning of the PSEAD course, I was not worried about anything, although my english level was quite low, because I thought it would improve after 5 weeks. Unfortunately, I always struggle to express my opinion and understand what my tutors and friends say. However, in the PSEAD course we have improved all skills needed for our main course, for example how to work in groups, prepare effective presentations and how to process various projects. Additionally, meeting friends who are in a similar situation is much helpful and has motivated me to do my best.
My future When I was looking for universities, I could not make up my mind what the best choice for my work would be. Then, the UCA staff advised me to study Documentary Practice, if I wanted to create video art. Before that, I did not know what Documentary Practice was. However, I decided to study this field to expand the expressions of my work, because I have been interested in mixing experimental art and documentary for a long time. After I complete my MA, I hope I will hold an exhibition in Japan to show the ideas I collected from my experience in the UK.

My future All performance starts with clear goals’. Maybe I want to take this responsibility even though I might not have a clear goal or aim for the future, but I’d better start now and enjoy the moment. Once I was asked the following question: if I were to give you 1 million dollars to do something you really don’t like to do, would you do iT? So my answer is that pretty much anytime I have the chance to do something cool, I just go for it.
About me Before coming to the University for the Creative Arts, I studied 3D Animation in Tianjin University of Technology for 4 years, during which I indeed acquired many skills through team projects and collected several valuable experiences for my future career. But to be frank, I did not particularly like this profession, just because there are many kinds of software which I am not good at. However, many people say that Life is Short, so why waste your time doing things you do not love? It is extremely essential to be good at what you do, and do what you love and unfortunately only few of us really do that. Personally, I want to be among those few who Actually Do What They Want.
PSEAD course I extremely enjoyed the PSEAD course and this is my first time I have attended such course overseas. First of all, I have acquired some new useful skills, such as group work, presentation and research skills. Additionally, I have learned about the importance of blogs and peer commenting, because we can get a great deal of ideas from other peers, and also how to focus on the positive side of things, think critically, criticise and receive criticism, without being judgemental. Through blogging, we can share our wisdom in the comment section. Secondly, about how to work in a group, in my view, listening carefully to other group members and expressing your views openly but with respect are very important. These skills will benefit my future study. Finally, I feel that this was a good beginning for me, and although the PSEAD course is about to finish and we will have say goodbye to each other, I believe that every ending is a new beginning.
