site’s strategic location along the busiest strip of East River waterfront and its historic function of a pier to envision a project that embraces the educational opportunites of the river, expanding the boundaries of an otherwise anchored school.

This urban housing project employs the ‘bed-sitting’ concept favorable to young, free spirited new arrivals of a community, of which there are many in Williamsburg. Through folded geometry and interplay of clusters, the possibility of social integration is further explored.

By designing a Chinese garden
04 CAUP Studio SP2014 Chinese Garden Design Critic: Min Wang
in Shanghai’s Century Park, my objective was to explore the possibilities of merging ecological bio-design with traditional Chinese garden methods, and to configurate a garden incorporating both ecological science and traditional aesthetics.
For this project, the focus of ecology is on bird attraction and habitat creation, to return to gardens the sight and sound of birds, which is commonly missing due to the lack of suitable natural bird habitats in industrialized Shanghai.
