Project 2 Lingnan Tiandi Cantonese Restaurant Location: Foshan,Guangdong province, China Areas: Total 1080 square meter Design time: Sep 2016- Dec 2016
The aim of the design: The starting point of Cantonese restaurant design is to see the traditional Cantonese morning tea culture from the perspective of a designer, through the integration and design of food culture, architecture and decorative elements from my hometown. 13
PROJECT 2 | Yi Yang Hospitality Design
Cantonese Tea (Yum Cha) Culture Speaking of Cantonese morning tea, it can be traced back to the years of Xian Feng and Tong Zhi in the Qing Dynasty. At that time, a teahouse called “Yi-LiGuan” (one cent house) in Guangzhou. A wooden board hanging on the front door with two words “Cha Hua” (tea talk) written on it. It served tea and dim sum, with fairly basic facilities, only a few wooden benches for the guests to rest and hang out. Afterward, the form of “tea and food” appeared, it gradually scaled up and became teahouses. Until today, actual tea has become a supporting role in Cantonese morning tea, but dim sum increasingly became sophisticated and various in diversity. This tradition has not disappeared with the rapid development of the economy in Guangdong but gradually becomes a beautiful scene in Cantonese leisure lives known as Yum Cha.

SITE
Brief introduction of the site
15
The Cantonese restaurant I designed was based on the most popular integrated business area of Lingnan Tiandi. It is in the central section of the old town (Chancheng District) of Foshan, in the central protection area. The area preserves one of the most complete ancient architectural complexes in China, which is the most concentrated, largest historic culture block whose traditional style has been best preserved in Foshan. The restaurant is located in this area for its apparent Foshan cultural features. Ip Man Tong, Huang Feihong Memorial Hall is in the surrounding area, representing the essence of Lingnan culture. Twenty-two historical relic buildings such as Jian Clan Villa, the Wedding house, Confucian Temple and Li Zhongsheng Tong Zupu are also in the area. They are the epitome of Forshan’s thousand-year history and its historical heritage as an important business town.

What I did related to nature-based theory includes 3 parts 1. Use bamboo element as the interior decoration(lightings, furniture, decoration wall) that idea comes from bamboo weaving material which made food steamer (container) 2. Combine landscape of Lingnancourtyard in the interior space. 3. Plenty of sunlight reaches to the dining area. 23

The reason of prosperity in Cantonese morning tea (YUM CHA), is related closely with Guangdong’s tradition of being an important business town and its flourishing economic development. During morning tea hours, Cantonese people talk about business, exchange information and meet friends to chat about everything. Businessmen see teahouse as an important place for doing business, while ordinary people relieve pressure here to take a break from their busy lives.

Sorry! Now is busy season. The rooms left is in different floor.
PROJECT 4 | Yi Yang Residential Design
Different floor? It is inconvenient for us to group working!
A story start...
Problem 1: Inconvenient traffic lowers work efficiency.
Problem 3: The price of accommodation is low but it’s far from the workplace with a high time cost.
Problem 2: Incomplete hardware equipment reduces work efficiency. 46

Conclusion The purpose of this program is to explore the privacy and flexibility of living spaces. As a business homestay, how to meet the needs of general customers and provide more space possibilities. As an interior design student, this solution might provide a different design idea and insight. Like the living room is combining with a meditation room and flexible pieces of furniture. Will they be loved by customers? Are they highly feasible? How can we improve the user experience? This is what I am trying to find during the design process and in the future.

Material tinfoil, plaster statue
Other Works Tinfoil Mask Art Creation 57
Introduction I tried to bind the head sculpture with soft wire to show the outline of the figure. But it didn’t achieve the expected effect due to the nature of the soft wire. When thinking about the material’s nature of easy to model and shape, I tried to use tinfoil to experiment again – to wrap the plaster head sculpture with tinfoil, combine the hardness of plaster with the light and plastic tinfoil. The design aims to show the stereoscopic sense of the figure with different materials so that people may look at daily materials and objects from different perspectives.
