We broaden the sidewalk to add more space for outside seating and walking. In this way, this street will be more WALKABLE, people will have a higher quality environment to walk through here.

At the south side of the site, there is the railway of the brown line. So put all units on the north side to avoid the chaotic view from units, and put the open corridor with green wall on the south side of the building to block the chaotic view. ·How to choose the site of building to satisfy the distinctiveness in study life of architecture students ·How to design a relatively open space which could also create the a sense of belonging This building is located in the site where is chosen freely in China University of Mining and Technology

Siheyuan The courtyard is surrounded by buildings on all sides. This pattern could provide people enough sense of security but lacks to be open to contect outside

San-ho-yuan Although this courtyard is surrounded by buildings on three sides, the fourth side is wall. So, it could provide security too, and it is also closed, though it is a little more open than Siheyuan

Open Courtyard This pattern courtyard is surrounded by buildings on only three sides. It is open enough, but it lacks of sense of security.

1.It is nearby the dinning hall which is the only one dining hall could satisfy the architecture students to ead at anytime 2.It is near to the students’ domitory so that it would be convenient and safe for students to go back domitory in late night 3.It is surrounded by the beautiful nature scenery which would benefits students to come up with some novel concepts

THE ELDERLY COMMUNITY CENTER Work V:09/2011~11/2011 ·To seek the life-style of old people and the character of their behavior ·To come up with a new method to deal with the problem that how to go upstairs This building is located in the community of Quantai coal mine area in Xuzhou. The main purpose of the building is to satisfy the requirments of entertainment and healthy activities in old people’s daily life.

ANALYSIS Active courtyard--sunken courtyard there is a fountain and public space provide people sitting there. There would be a cool place to stay when the weather is so hot. People could get there from both inside and outside of the building.

Considering that some of old people may have mobility problem, a HALF-LEVEL SHIFT between the two parts of the building to lower the height which the old people need to go up and down. And use a large gentle slope of 1in12 to connect each floor.
