Introduction from our honourary co-chairs On Saturday, March 10th 2012, Engineers Without Borders Edmonton (EWB) & the North Saskatchewan Riverkeeper are holding the inaugural Fire & Ice Gala at the Edmonton Expo Centre. Water is life. Providing leadership and supporting initiatives that ensure people can access clean water at home and abroad are key mandates of EWB and the NSRK. Funds raised from the Fire & Ice Gala Dinner in 2012 will support initiatives to deliver community education and awareness programs on watershed stewardship and water quality to Alberta’s youth. They will also contribute to efforts to improve water infrastructure in Malawi and Ghana. Join us for an evening that celebrates our relationship with our waters and the engineers and water stewards who protect this life-giving resource. Your sponsorship and presence matters because water matters to all of us. Prepare to celebrate, be wowed, and connect with the great people and engineers of Edmonton. Featuring master of ceremonies and renowned comedian, Danny Hooper, Fire & Ice Gala includes a phenomenal mainstage performance, an amazing dinner, silent auction, live auction, and a few surprises! See you on March 10! Sally Munro and Karen Percy-Lowe Honourary Chairs, Fire & Ice Gala 2012

Supported Organizations
Engineers Without Borders Canada - www.ewb.ca
Engineers Without Borders is a movement of professional engineers, students, overseas volunteer staff, and supporters across Canada. Together, we are almost 50,000 strong. We believe that the next generation of rural Africans should have the same opportunities to improve their lives, that we have right here at home. In Africa, EWB’s approach to development focuses exclusively on systemic innovations that impact the masses. So we don’t drill wells, we help to ensure that tens of thousands of wells are monitored and repaired. We don’t distribute seeds, we work with small businesses to help them provide the tools and information that farmers need to prosper. All of this is made possible by unprecedented local insight – our teams integrate with businesses, governments, organizations and entrepreneurs to understand systems from the inside out, then work with them to incubate change. At home, EWB engages Canadians, our government, companies, and universities on a widespread scale, to build their connections to Africa and make choices that better promote and contribute to human development.
North Saskatchewan Riverkeeper - www.saskriverkeeper.ca
The North Saskatchewan Riverkeeper (NSRK) Program is a local watershed preservation charity based in Edmonton. We are dedicated to being a united voice of the North Saskatchewan River watershed and community from the Rocky Mountain headwaters to the forks (near Prince Albert where the North and South Saskatchewan Rivers meet). Our watershed includes all land and water that drain to the North Saskatchewan River. Our vision is a North Saskatchewan River Watershed where we can all safely and enjoyably swim, drink, and fish. The NSRK is a licensed member of the Waterkeeper Alliance, an international grassroots organization of over 200 member groups dedicated to preserving and protecting water quality and quantity. Our projects include the The Swim Guide for Alberta (www.theswimguide.org) and Community Education Programs (CEP) such as the 2011 Youth Leadership Training Program on Water at the Global Youth Assembly in July. Funds raised from the "Fire and Ice" Gala Dinner will support our youth and community education and awareness programs on watershed stewardship and water quality.
