Zermatt DAY 1 - ZERMATT

Depart Basel and head south via Visp to the mountain resort of Zermatt. This car free village is a great base for 2-nights, and once checked in head out to explore. DAY 2 - THE GORNERGRAT DAY TRIP

After breakfast enjoy a ride on the Gornergrat cog railway. The train climbs over bridges and through a fragrant forest of fir trees from where you will enjoy spectacular view of the iconic Matterhorn mountain. Chamois or Marmot can be found running freely at the top and if you are feeling energetic there are some gentle walking trails which reward hikers with even more breath-taking views of the surrounding peaks. Head back down the mountain and take a stroll through the pretty village of Zermatt.

DAY 3 - THE GLACIER EXPRESS

Today cross Switzerland abord the legendary panoramic carriages of the Glacier Express. The train passes through 91 tunnels and over 291 bridges, cross the Oberal Pass and the dizzyingly high Landwasser viaduct before arriving in St Moritz. The village has a great selection of restaurants to enjoy dinner in the evening. DAY 4 - THE BERNINA EXPRESS DAY TRIP

Head south to Italy today and enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery seen from a train anywhere in the world.Cross mountain passes and admire the spectacular peaks of Piz Bernina and Piz Palu. Have your camera ready for the magical Brusio spiral viaduct before the arriving into Tirano, northern Italy. Enjoy lunch before hoping back on the train and heading back to St Moritz. The varying light gives the scenery a different life, and once back in St Moritz enjoying taking stock of the amazing photos you have captured. DAY 5 - END OF TOUR
