GRAND TOUR OF SWITZERLAND

DAY 1 - ZURICH

Welcome to the heart of Europe! Once you arrive in Zurich, check into your hotel for an overnight stay. The remainder of the day is yours to spend time strolling through Zurich’s Altstadt—or Old Town.

DAY 2 - ZURICH TO INTERLAKEN

The day is free to enjoy at your leisure. Travel to Interlaken via Bern, departures are very regular and the trip takes about two hours total. Situated between two lakes, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, Interlaken is a charming village in the Alps.

DAY 3 - INTERLAKEN

Today, spend your time using your included Swiss Pass and take advantage of all the gorgeous sights surrounding Interlaken. More than simply a thrill seekers paradise, this town offers a variety of options for relaxation and sightseeing like a cruise on either Lake Thun or Lake Brienz, two of the finest lakes in Switzerland, or embark on a day trip to Meringen.

DAY 4 - JUNGFRAU/INTERLAKEN

After breakfast this morning, you will climb to Europe’s highest altitude railway station on Jungfrau Mountain. Before reaching the station at Eigergletscher, which is well known for its mountain restaurant and huskies, take in the breath-taking views of the Black Forest in Germany and the Vosges Mountains in France. Also enjoy the fascinating glacier and ice gallery at the top. After a spectacular day sightseeing, return to town and spend the evening at your leisure.

DAY 5 - GOLDEN PASS/LAUSANNE

Take the iconic Golden Pass Line from Interlaken to lakeside Lausanne. When you arrive in Lausanne, check into your hotel and start getting to know this vibrant and lively city. Visit Riponne place, Palais de Rumine, Gothic Old Town, and the streets of la Cité.

DAY 6 - LAUSANNE

Use your Swiss Pass and enjoy a cruise over Lake Geneva to Evian, famous for its healing waters and spa resorts. A cruise is the best way to combine the city, lake and mountains. In Lausanne, take some time to explore and enjoy Swiss flavors like cheese fondue, Cordon Bleu, smoked féra (fish caught in Lake Geneva), or dried meats and gherkins.

DAY 7 - ZERMATT

Take a scenic train ride to Zermatt today via Visp and check in at your hotel for a two-night stay. Spend the rest of the day exploring this pedestrianized village famed for being nestled in a deep valley shadowed by the Matterhorn. In the evening, enjoy the hours as you wish.

DAY 8 - ZERMATT/GORNERGRAT

Today, use your Swiss Pass to take a ride on a marvel of 19th century engineering - the Gornergrat Cog Railway - which climbs from 5,262 feet above sea level. From the top, you get to take in one of the most spectacular panoramas in all of Switzerland. Take the same route back down to Zermatt where you can enjoy the numerous small bars and restaurants on the car free roads of this beautiful village.

DAY 9 - GLACIER EXPRESS/ST MORITZ

Take the Glacier Express from Zermatt to St Moritz, located on the southern side of the Alps. Along the way, enjoy the full-length of this famed rail journey. (Between mid Oct and early Dec The Glacier Express train does not run, so the journey will be made on local trains, ask your Travel Consultant for more details)

DAY 10 - ST MORITZ

Beyond the slopes, St Moritz offers visitors plenty of attractions. With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, it is a fabulous destination for cultural tourism and sightseeing regardless of the season.

DAY 11 - BERNINA EXPRESS/LUGANO

If there’s one thing you’ll discover while in Lugano, it’s that this southern Switzerland town is one of country’s most charming. Board the Bernina Express for an exciting train ride through the gorgeous mountain scenery of Switzerland. Onboard you’ll pass glaciers, the Bernina Pass, and travel along Lago Bianco down toward Poschiavo. In Tirano, Italy, you’ll board the Bernina Express Bus

DAY 12 - LUGANO

Today, take advantage of your Swiss Pass and enjoy a cruise on gorgeous Lake Lugano. During the cruise, you’ll get to see quaint towns that sit along the bank and take in the serene views. The rest of the day and evening free to do as you wish. Try an authentic, local dish at one of the many grotto lakeside restaurants, do some shopping in a posh boutique, or stroll along the flower-lined promenade.

DAY 13 - GOTTHARD PANORAMA EXPRESS/ LUCERNE

Experience a wonderful, scenic train ride on the historic Gotthard Panorama Express to Fluelen and then a historic paddle steamer cruise to Lucerne all in first class. You’ll enjoy unparalleled views of central Switzerland, mountain peaks, and worldclass railway construction. In Lucerne, spend time experiencing all of Lucerne’s best attractions. The Glacier Garden, which exhibits glacier potholes from the last Ice Age, is also a must-see. In the evening, dine lakeside, with incredible mountain views all around you.

DAY 14 - MOUNT PILATUS/LUCERNE

Visit one of the most legendary places in central Switzerland, and one of the most breathtaking: Mount Pilatus. Ascend the mountain by cog railway and once at the top, take in the panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. On the summit, relax on the terrace, or enjoy world-class cuisine at one of the restaurants. On your way back down, take an air gondola or cable car.

DAY 15 - END OF TOUR

Take a direct train to the airport in Zurich, or anywhere else in Switzerland covered by your included Swiss Pass, and continue with your onward travels.
