VERNACULAR ARCHITECTURE OF EGYPT Vernacular architecture is a type of construction which is representative of stability and sustenance. Its major characteristic is to balance the harsh climatic conditions with traditional technology. In Egypt, with a climate with diurnal difference, indigenous tradition can be seen in the building materials , the way of construction and passive strategies used to conquer heat. Egypt can also be called the founder of soil based architecture. Mud was readily available alongside the river Nile, and it was then used to make sun dried mud-bricks. Mud bricks or Adobe bricks is a composite material made of earth (sand, silt & clay) and water, with straw as the binding material.

INSPIRATION FROM SURREALISM
VISUAL BOARDS
Brief : To study any craft, era, movement or culture. Tu study it’s iconography and genre and derive the essence of the theme in the form of visual boards. The final outcome should be in the form of visual media, 3d model, wearable art or a space. RESULT
The idea was to create surreal images that were not camera clicked but looked as if they were photographic images. THEME: ABODE TO HEAVEN
INITIAL SKETCHES
INSPIRATION: SURREAL PHOTOGRAPHY
FINAL OUTCOME & SYMBOLISM
GIRAFFE is a spirit animal. It indicates a strong connection between mother earth HOT AIR BALLOON is juxtaposed on a human & spirit. Hence I’ve tried to use giraffe as body. Air balloon is infused with a dream catcher. They are symbolic of completion of something in a ladder to the gates of heaven. your life, mind body and spirit. The human is flying towards heaven, and the dream provides strength & spiritual guidance.
EIFEL TOWER is used as a bridge reaching towards heaven. Eifel tower is symbolic of freedom and of all our dreams for a better world. This building is a way upwards to eternity. Man is an influenced being, their thinking is caged. BIRDS are symbolic of freedom, ability to soar in the sky. They symbolise eternal life; the link between heaven and earth. Birds are trying to escape man from the usual caged world.

3D PROJECT -A STUDY/ TV LOUNGE
This was a single room in a project where I had to design a study cum TV lounge. Adding a concrete wall with a wall decal , giving a contemporary look to the study room. I made a customised bookshelf which is also used as a partition between the study and tv lounge.
I also made an adjoining daybed with the bookshelf to create a little private space for the person, so that if he’s lying down, he’s not visible to somebody entering the room.
