INTRO TO COMPETITIVE Ages 9-18 This class gives swimmers a chance to work on their competitive swimming skills and covers competitive stroke techniques, starts and finishes. Ages 5-8: Must be able to swim 25 yards. Front crawl with rotary breathing and be familiar with backstroke and breaststroke. Sat 8:30 - 9:15 am F $96 C $144 C $192 Ages 9-18: Swimmers must be Stage 5 or above and be able to swim a 500 with good form using front crawl and backstroke. BOSTON Y BLUEFINS SWIM TEAM The Boston YMCA Bluefins swim team is a year-round competitive program serving those in the town of Reading and its surrounding communities by helping swimmers of all abilities reach his or her highest potential. The Bluefins participate in YMCA competitions at the local, state, regional, and national level. The team also competes as a part of the USA Swimming Association offering those swimmers who meet specific criteria the opportunity to swim at the local, regional, state, zone and national competitive level. SPRING TRAINING This program is designed to keep competitive swimmers active during the break between Spring and Fall seasons. Emphasis is on lap drills and improving stroke technique. This class is for those who are not currently practicing with the championship swim team. This season participants on instructional and recreational teams will experience an exclusive basketball program teaching the values of Celtics basketball and focusing on healthy player and coach development. WOMEN’S PROGRESSIVE STRENGTH TRAINING The secret to getting lean is getting strong. The more muscle you have, the more calories your body will burn and the leaner you’ll get. Increased muscle mass will also add shape to your arms, take inches from your tummy and even add some roundness to your booty!
