The YMCA Leadership Our team of summer staff are caring and trained adults who have experience working with children. All staff are certified in CPR, First Aid and have completed up to 30 hours of training. Our staff have also passed criminal record and child abuse clearances. Every employee of the YMCA of Honolulu has completed the Armatus Online Child Abuse Prevention Training, a mandatory program specifically designed for safety and riskreduction in the workplace. Proper ID must be shown to pick up your child and we will only release your child to an approved and authorized person.

General Information Registration Information Register online at www.ymcahonolulu.org or in person at the branch of your choice. You must register in person if you are applying for financial assistance for any YMCA program. Register by May 28th or one week prior to the start of desired program to avoid late fees. There is a late registration fee of $35 per child or per registration. Confirmation and Program Information Summer packets will be mailed to confirm enrollment and provide details/program information and lunch/snack options (available for full day programs) after we receive your registration. Cancellation Policy Should you need to make changes to your child’s registration, call the appropriate YMCA branch as soon as possible. Cancellations must be made in writing and received prior to the start of the program. Cancellations are subject to a processing fee as follows: prior to the start of the program — refund less 30% (or up to $50), on the first day of program — prorated refund less 30% (or up to $50), no refunds or credits after the first day of program. A $25 fee will be applied for any checks or credit card payments returned from your financial institution due to insufficient funds.
Financial Assistance The YMCA believes its programs and services should be accessible to everyone. Through the generosity of donors, the YMCA is able to provide financial assistance to those families in need. Applications for financial assistance will be available at your local YMCA branch. Financial assistance will be awarded based on availability of funds. Please submit your forms by May 1. Acceptance of applications submitted after this date is subject to funds availability. Please check with your Y branch as some are not accepting applications after this date. DHS Reimbursement Paperwork Parents who are receiving DHS benefits and need their DHS 918 Child Care Certificate and Provider Confirmation Form completed must pay the program fees in full. Once payment is made at your YMCA Branch, the DHS 918 Form may be submitted. All information must be completed including the “Worker’s Name,” “Unit/Tel,” and “Client ID#.” Incomplete forms will be returned delaying the registration process. Please contact your YMCA branch for more information.

The YMCA Day Camp experience enriches the summer months and provides participants with a range of activities. This summer, an educational recreation curriculum has been developed for our Discoverers (Campers entering Grades 1–3) and our Adventurers (Campers entering Grades 4–6). Themed weeks feature project activities with lots of time for outdoor explorations, craft making, sports and swimming, and of course, friendship and fun! Highlights include nature and scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, cooking and construction projects,

The Central YMCA is offering three specialty camps that are custom designed to fit the interest of your child. Programs will run according to the chart below

Multi-Sports Clinic | for children: Entering Grades 3–9 If your child is interested in sports, is already an all-around athlete, or likes sports but doesn't know which sport they like — this is a camp for your child. Multi-sports clinic introduces children to various sports such as flag-football, softball, basketball, field hockey, volleyball, soccer, tennis, track-n-field, and golf. This program is a water orientation class designed for parent and child participation. The class encourages the bond of trust between parent and child and teaches parents how to guide and supervise their children around the water. The child will be exposed to basic movements.
Increase your speed and endurance by joining your local Y Swim Team. Swimmers develop confidence, strength, a life-time love of swimming, and develop a healthy lifestyle while creating bonds of friendship through team sports. Teams compete in 6-8 swim meets throughout the year with other branch teams. Contact your local Y for practice times.
Preschool (Ages 3–5 Years) The preschool swim program has four levels designed to help children progress and build elementary swimming and safety skills. Children are placed in small groups with YMCA trained instructors. Class emphasizes the development of coordination, endurance, and self-confidence of the preschooler.

Youth (Ages 6–12 Years) The progressive swim program has six levels designed to help children grow personally and develop strokes and safety skills. Emphasis is on endurance, personal safety, skill development, and lifesaving techniques.

A Magical Place YMCA Camp H.R. Erdman is located on the beautiful North Shore of O‘ahu, Hawai‘i. Since 1926, the camp has been a favorite place for summer adventures, retreats, family reunions and conferences for both locals and visitors alike. Nestled between the Wai‘anae mountains and pristine beaches of Mokule‘ia, YMCA Camp Erdman provides an ideal atmosphere to grow, learn and have fun.
An Adventure of a Lifetime Summer at Camp Erdman provides campers with fun, exciting and lifechanging experiences that support personal growth and help them develop the relationship, leadership, and decision-making skills necessary to be successful as adults. We focus on four areas that have a significant impact on youth development—safety, skill building, supportive relationships and youth involvement.
10-Week Traditional Resident Camp Sessions 1–10, Weekly sessions from June 3–August 10 Traditional campers have the chance to explore beautiful landscapes while participating in fun and exciting activities. Our youngest campers participate in a variety of activities that serve as an introduction of camp. Older or returning campers participate in a more focused activity track that engages each individual in learning new skills. Campers build confidence and independence through decision-making and selecting age-appropriate programs. By participating in both individual and group activities, campers learn leadership skills, ways to create positive peer relationships and build strong self-esteem. All campers join together and participate in evening programs packed with inspiring and fun activities.

Specialty Camps Specialty camps combine the fun of traditional summer camp with a chance for campers to learn more about their favorite activities. Ten weekly sessions from June 3–August 10.
Horsemanship Camp Sessions 1–10 (Ages 8–16) Saddle up, it’s time to ride! Horsemanship campers will spend 5 mornings of fun filled interaction with the “Gentle Giants” down the road. Beginning riders can expect to learn and participate in grooming, tack and riding skills along with basic commands. Our returning campers and more experienced riders will be offered the option of beginning polo lessons or taking the next steps in advanced riding skills. Each week ends with a beautiful beach trail ride. Surf Camp Sessions 1–10 (Ages 8–16) Surf's up, the boards are waxed. Campers enjoy customized surf lessons tailored to the needs and experience of each individual surfer. Participants learn about water safety, proper paddling, standing and falling techniques, surf terminology, wave etiquette and how to evaluate conditions (tides, buoy readings, etc.) while gaining a deep respect for the ocean and the sport of surfing. From Ali'i Beach Park to Chun's reef, our surfers are learning in one of nature's finest classrooms.

Rock Climbing Camp Sessions 6–7 (Ages 10–16) On belay. Belay on. Campers have an opportunity to learn climbing skills including how to belay, movement on the rock and safely setup a rock climbing site. Camp Erdman is located next to one of the best climbing sites on the island. A short hike takes you to canyons, cliffs and mountain terrain. Campers build skills in leadership and teamwork while being challenged. English as a Second Language (ESL) Sessions 8–10 (Ages 6–16) Aloha, Hola, Hello! Through a partnership with the Institute of Intensive English we are able to offer this high quality English as a Second Language (ESL) program. Our professional ESL teachers understand the challenges of learning English as a second language and have designed a program that make learning fun. Campers participate in this program three hours a day, for five days. With the 1:5 student to teacher ratio, your camper is sure to vastly improve in the English language. Something For The Whole Family? June 29–July 1 If you are looking for something special to do with the whole family, this is it! Join us June 29 to July 1 for a family camp experience that includes swimming, archery, Alpine Tower, Keiki Club, hikes, kayaking, games and delicious food so you don’t have to worry about cooking. Campfire Evenings at camp are spent singing songs, playing night games, and building camaraderie within camp. At the end of each day the camp staff will recognize campers for their achievements throughout the day’s activities. Each camp session will close with a special campfire recognition ceremony that reinforces character development and will create some of the campers’ greatest memories.

The staff at Camp Erdman comes from diverse backgrounds and experiences, lending to the creativity, spirit and culture of camp. Staff members go through a rigorous hiring process and are selected based on their experience working with youth, knowledge and skills in specific camp activity areas and ability to create positive relationships with campers and build a positive camp community.
