SUMMER DAY CAMPS Fun, Exploration and Adventure! At the Y, kids have the opportunity to explore nature, find new talents, try new activities, gain independence, and make lasting friendships and memories. And, of course, it’s fun too!

Your child will enjoy an enriched summer filled with a wide range of activities. Each two week session is themed to feature unique project activities with lots of time for outdoor explorations, craft making, sports and swimming, friendship and fun! Teens develop the leadership skills and confidence to excel in their academics and gain valuable job training. Teens select from a list of available job categories to learn a variety of skills including time management, customer service, communication, and other specific job responsibilities. Thousands of children and adults in Hawai‘i have discovered the joy of swimming at the Y. Elements taught include personal safety, skill development, personal growth, water sports/games and rescue.

Group Lessons Rates: 8 Classes • $80 for Family Fitness Members • $100 for Non-members • Financial assistance available Ages: • Parent/Tot (Ages 6–35 months, 30 minute classes) Designed for parent and child participation, class establishes trust and teaches parents how to guide and supervise their children around the water. Your child will be exposed to basic movements. • Preschool (Ages 3–5 Years, 30 minute classes) Four levels designed to help children progress and build elementary swimming and safety skills. Small group instruction emphasizes the development of coordination, endurance, and self-confidence of the preschooler. • Youth (Ages 6–12 Years, 45 minute classes) A six level progressive swim program designed to help children grow personally and develop strokes and safety skills. Emphasis is on endurance, personal safety, skill development, and lifesaving techniques. • Adult Classes (45 minute classes)
Private Lessons Rates: 5 Classes for $125 Ages: 3 years old to adults Learn to swim from a skilled teacher on a one-on-one basis. Each session is 30 minutes in length. All lessons packages are pre-paid and non-refundable. Swim Team (Ages 6-18 Years) Increase your speed and endurance by joining your local Y Swim Team. Swimmers develop confidence, strength, a lifetime love of swimming, and develop a healthy lifestyle while creating bonds of friendship through team sports. Teams compete in 6-8 swim meets throughout the year with other branch teams. Contact your local Y for practice times. Lifeguard Courses Participants are provided with the knowledge and skills needed to be a lifeguard and professional rescuer. Participants will be certified in Y Lifeguard, CPR Pro for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid for the Community and Emergency Oxygen Administration. Water Polo Location: Mililani Perfect for beginners. Our well-trained staff will help your child develop the skills needed to enjoy this fast-paced sport such as treading, passing, building swimming strength, as well as offering a safe and fun experience in the water.

In the mornings campers choose skills they want to learn, such as archery, outdoor living skills, and art, among many others. Our knowledgeable instructors coach them throughout the week to improve in their chosen areas. Later in the day campers rotate through our activity areas to experience all Camp Erdman has to offer. These activities may include hiking, sports, swimming, and more. At night, evening activities include campfires, dances, and a weekly camp out. Campers and counselors spend one night cooking their own food and sleeping in tents under the stars. Our oldest campers spend the night at an off-site destination.

LITs cultivate those skills through teambuilding activities, specialized high ropes, service work, and behind-the-scenes projects on camp. Our staff mentor each LIT to apply their new skills and confidence at home and in school. The natural progression from the LIT program is to the CIT program the following summer.
COUNSELORS-IN-TRAINING (CITs) (Entering Grade 11) Dates: June 7 - August 7; Two Week Sessions TWO WEEKS: Rate: $1315 • Y Family Member Rate: $1052 Designed to develop future camp leaders, the CIT program helps teens build the skills needed to become camp counselors. Our staff teach teens how to effectively lead groups, work with kids, communicate with peers, and practice servant leadership. In the second week of the program, CITs join a cabin with experienced staff members to practice these skills, and learn what it’s like to be a role model for our campers. Our staff continue to mentor teens during their in-cabin experience to further growth, learning, and fun.

Applications for financial assistance are available at any YMCA branch. Please submit your forms by May 1.
DHS Reimbursement Paperwork Parents receiving DHS benefits who need their DHS 918 Child Care Certificate and Provider Confirmation Form completed must pay all program fees in full. Once payment is made at your YMCA Branch, the DHS 918 Form may be submitted. All information must be completed including the “Worker’s Name,” “Unit/Tel,” and “Client ID#.” Incomplete forms will be returned delaying the registration process. Please contact your YMCA branch for more information.
Confirmation and Program Information Summer packets will be mailed to confirm enrollment and provide details/program information and lunch/snack options (available for full day programs) after we receive your registration.
Cancellation Policy Should you need to make changes to your child’s registration, call your YMCA branch as soon as possible. Cancellations must be made in writing and received prior to the start of the program. Cancellations are subject to a processing fee as follows: prior to the start of the program — refund less 30% (or up to $50), on the first day of program — prorated refund less 30% (or up to $50), no refunds or credits after the first day of program. A $25 fee will be applied for any checks or credit card payments returned from your financial institution due to insufficient funds. In the event of inclement weather or natural disaster, which the YMCA has no control over, the YMCA may need to cancel its programs and/or close its facilities. Also, if the selected off-site program venue poses a safety hazard for staff and participants, there may be the need for the YMCA to cancel or modify its programs. A refund or credit will not be issued in these cases.
Medical Requirements To assist the Y in providing a safe environment and the best care possible for our participants, parents/guardians are asked to provide information on any medical needs that their child/teen may have (e.g. food allergies, physical limitations). This information should be provided on the Registration Form or in writing prior to the child/teen starting the program. Children and teens who are not registered students in a Department of Education or licensed independent school in the State of Hawai‘i (out of state, international) are required to provide proof of Tuberculosis clearance by a licensed physician at the time of registration. For foreign language assistance, please inquire at the Y branch.
International Children Proof of age is required for all international children being registered.
