AQUATICS INFORMATION

PARENT/ CHILD SWIM LESSON

PRESCHOOL

Swim Level Placement:

6 Months - age 4 | F: $50 M: $70 N: $90

Ages 3 - 6 | F: $50 M: $70 N: $90

Placement evaluations can be made at any time for anyone unsure of their current swim level. For more information, please contact Aquatics Coordinator Matthew Alessi at malessi@metronorthymca.org.

Regulations:

Per state health code regulations, all swimmers must shower prior to entering the pool. While in the pool, all swimmers are required to wear swim caps. Only swim wear designed to be in water may be worn.

Parent/Child A: 6-18 months w/ parent

Parents learn water safety, holds and towing techniques that encourage basic kicking, pulling and water independence for children. Swim diapers must be worn. Fri: 9:50am-10:20am Sat: 10:10am-10:40am

Parent/Child B: 19months- Age 3

w/ parent Toddlers are introduced to submerging, kicking and pulling combinations, floating and swimming Refunds: without flotation. Swim diapers must be worn Refunds must be requested within the first week for children not potty trained.   of each session. Payment is non-refundable Fri: 9:50am-10:20am after the first week. Sat: 10:10am-10:40am

Make Up Classes:

Should the YMCA cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson will be scheduled. If the YMCA is unable to schedule a make-up class, a credit will be provided. If a student does not attend a class, there will be no make-up or refund for that class.

Open and Family Swim:

For information regarding open and/or family swim times please refer to our pool schedule. Current pool schedules can be found at the welcome center or online at ymcametronorth.org. For a full list of pool policies, please refer to the reverse side of the pool schedule or our website.

Group Swim Lessons:

Each group swim lesson requires a minimum of 3 swimmers in order to run. Classes with less than 3 swimmers signed up will be combined with another class or cancelled.

Observation Policy:

Parents and visitors of swim participants are warmly welcomed on deck during swim lessons for the first and last week of each session. All other classes will be closed to spectators. Pictures and videos are strictly prohibited in the pool area.

Stage 1:

This class is for the child who has little or no experience. Increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance.  Mon: 4:30pm-5:00pm Tue: 4:30pm-5:00pm  Wed: 4:30pm-5:00pm Sat:  9:00am-9:30am  Sat: 10:45am-11:15am  Sun: 10:45am-11:15am

Stage 2:

Swimmers must swim 5 feet without assistance or flotation and fully submerge their face in the water to enter this class. Encourages forward movement in water and basic selfrescue skills performed independently. This class will be using the deep end of the pool. Mon: 5:40pm-6:10pm Thu: 4:30pm-5:00am  Sat: 9:35am-10:05am Sun:  10:45am-11:15am

Stage 3:

Swimmers must swim 20 feet or about three quarters the width of the pool without flotation to enter this class. Develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages. This class will be using the deep end of the pool. Tue: 5:05pm-5:35pm  Wed:   5:05pm-5:35pm  Wed: 6:15pm-6:45pm Sat:  11:15am-11:45am  Sun:  11:20am-11:50am

Stage 4:

Swimmers must be able to proficiently swim the width of the pool on stomach and back without flotation to enter this class. Introduces basic stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke. This class will using the deep end of the pool. Thu: 5:40pm-6:10pm

Stage1:

Swimmers must be able to swim the entire length of the pool with proficient front crawl and backstroke and tread water for 1 minute to enter this class.    Sun: 11:45am-12:20pm

Aqua Fitness: FREE for members!

Join us for a full body workout! A combination of cardio respiratory endurance and muscle conditioning interval training. Registration is required.  Mon: 9:15am-10:15am  Mon: 6:30pm-7:30pm  Tue: 6:30pm-7:30pm Thu: 9:15am-10:15am Thu: 6:30pm-7:30pm

Aquatics Stretch: FREE for members!

Breed Swim Lessons - FREE!

Aqua Zumba: FREE for members!

6th - 8th Graders These classes are designed for beginner swimmers from Breed Middle School. The class will consist of basic swimming skills as well as water safety. *Participants should present a valid school ID when registering. Sat: 11:20am-11:50am

Teen’s Beginner Swim - FREE!

Teens will learn basic swimming skills in a low pressure class. Swimmers will build confidence and learn the fundamentals of aquatic safety. Wed: 5:05pm-5:35pm Sun: 12:30pm-1:10pm

Private Lessons:

Private lessons are available upon request for members only. If interested, please submit a request form located at the Welcome Center. Private: Semi-private:* 4 classes: $130 4 classes: $180 *Semi-Private lessons are for a maximum of 3 swimmers.

Lap Swim & Open Swim:

FREE for Members! Lap swim is available for ages 15+. Open swim is available to all ages.  Children 6 and younger MUST be accompanied by a supervising adult in the water within arm’s reach. All participants ages 6+ must use gender appropriate locker rooms.   For lap Swim and Family/Open Swim times visit  www.ymcametronorth.org.

Aqua Zumba blends the Zumba philosophy with water resistance, for one pool party you shouldn’t miss! Water creates natural resistance, which means every step is more challenging and helps tone your muscles with less impact on your joints. Thu: 6:30pm-7:30pm (2nd & 4th Thursday of the month)

ADULT SWIM Ages 17+ | M: $60 N: $90

Adult Beginner Swim Lessons:

Not much experience? Want to build your skills? This is the place to start! Participants will become more confident in the water and learn the fundamentals of swimming and aquatic safety.  Sun: 1:15pm-1:55pm  Fri: 5:40pm-6:10pm

Adult Swim Stroke Development:

Develop basic swim strokes and have the opportunity to try more advanced swim strokes in this class. Participants should be able to swim one length of the pool to enter this class.  Sun: 2:00pm-2:40pm

Youth Basketball League:

The Lynn YBL is a basketball program for boys and girls from age 5-13 years old. Learn the fundamental of the game through practices and gameplay. Children will learn valuable life skills including teamwork, sportsmanship, and selfconfidence. T-shirts will be provided. Pee-wee | ages 5-7 Sat: 9:30 – 10:30am Rookie League | ages 8-10 Sat: 10:30 – 12:15pm All Star League | ages11-13 Sat: 12:15- 2:00pm

Indoor Soccer Clinic:

Develop individual strengths with highly energetic and rigorous training. Each session includes technical skills, speed and strength components and new training ideas. Sun: 9:00am-11:30am - ages 7-9 Sun: 9:00am-11:30am - ages 9-11

Flag Football League:

Our youth flag football leagues and clinics are designed to introduce young athletes to the game and develop their football skills. Minimum 6-8 teams to run. Sun: 9:00am-11:00am - ages 5-6 co-ed Sun: 9:00am-11:00am - ages 7-8 co-ed Sun: 9:00am-11:00am - ages 9-11 co-ed Sun: 9:00am-11:00am - ages 12-14 boys

Healthy Kid’s Kitchen:

FREE to the community! Youth in 3rd to 12th grade can sign up and have fun learning about nutrition and healthy eating while making delicious snacks in our Kid’s Kitchen Café. Mon-Thu: 6:00pm-7:00pm

GPA Study Group:Grades 3+

FREE to the community! Tutors are present to assist with school work and academic skill development. There are activities related to improving reading, writing, computer and communication skills. This is a program for those that are serious about improving academically. Computer access is available. Mon-Thu: 5:30pm-6:30pm

Leaders Club:FREE with middle school or family membership! Leaders club is a Middle School aged after-school drop-in program. Organized activities include: leadership development, community service learning, music studio, team building, fitness activities, mentoring, fun games, sports, swimming, and field trips. Mon-Fri: 3:00pm-6:00pm

Hip Hop Dance Class:

Grades 3+ | FREE to the community! Move to the beat with members of the In The Makin’ (ITM) Dance and Step Team! Come learn different styles of hip hop dance in a fun nojudgement atmosphere. Mon: 5:30pm-6:30pm

Growing in the Greenhouse:

Speed, accuracy and team-building skills will be taught to improve fitness. Game is similar to paintball or laser tag. Thu: 4:45pm-5:30pm - ages 7-11

Grades 3+ | FREE to the community! Come try out your green thumb in or greenhouse! Learn about plants and grow one right before your eyes in no time at all! Tue: 5:30pm-6:30pm

Floor Hockey

Rock Wall Wednesday:

Ages 7-11| FREE to the community! Our youth hockey program is fast pace and a whole lot of fun. Youth learn new skills, make new friends, and develop essential character traits, and set individual and team goals. Tuesday 5:00 -6:00pm

Membership Guide:

Grades 3+ | FREE to the community! Challenge yourself on our indoor rock climbing wall. Compete against your friends and play interactive games. Students will be encouraged each week to complete individual and group climbing goals. Wed: 5:30pm-6:30pm

Track Stars: FREE to the community!

Stretch your legs and build stamina for long distance running with the option to participate with the Track Stars team in a local 5K. Thu: 5:30pm-6:30pm

Kaya:

Ages 13-18 | FREE for members! Kaya means body and character. Our mission is to spark the power of youth to generate positive change. We strive to accomplish the mission through youth-led events, interactive workshops, film screenings, and creative expression. Activities focus on Healthy Living (fitness and health), Social Responsibility (volunteering and community events), and Youth Development (academic support, team building and social skills).

Music Studio Clubhouse: Ages 10-18 The Lynn Music Studio is a professional level studio offering free studio time and free music instruction to all youth. If you love music come and check out our professional quality studio with a control room, isolation booth and live rehearsal room. Improve your vocals, enhance your songwriting, get your bars up, use Logic, Maschine, and Ableton to create some classic beats and collaborate with talent from around the city! See Welcome Center for class and orientation offerings.

Freestyle Fridays: Ages 10+

Sing? Rap? Write lyrics? Make beats? Play an instrument? Join our Music Director for help and advice on making music. Activities include singing karaoke, writing raps, making beats and playing piano. You can even bring in your own instrument to practice! Fri: 5:30pm-6:30pm

Speed Stack Wednesdays

Grades 3+ / FREE to the Community Challenge yourself with speed stacks! Compete against your friends and the clock. Students will be encouraged each week to complete team goals and set personal bests. Wed: 5:30pm - 6:30pm

LYNN YMCA HEALTHY LIVING

Strength and Conditioning:

M: $65 N: $95 Are you ready to break the cycle of hitting a plateau and feeling unsure of your next workouts? This full body workout program will challenge your whole body and help you burn fat while building muscle. To help you maximize your strength and conditioning this class will be offered two times a week. Mon: 4:30pm-5:30pm Wed: 4:30pm-5:30pm

Lift Heavy, Look Lean:

M: $65 N: $85 Lift Heavy, Look Lean will teach strategies for getting cut and lean using free weights, barbells and personal body weight. This class includes two workouts each week with a certified Personal Trainer. Body composition testing included to track personal progress. Tue: 5:30pm-6:30pm Thu: 4:30pm-5:30pm

Boxing

Walk-to-Run:

Members only Work with one of our dedicated professional trainers who will devise a training plan that will meet your needs and help you accomplish your goals in a timely fashion.
