32nd Annual Golf Tournament Monday, June 13 Join us for our 32nd Annual Melrose Family YMCA Golf Tournament at the Bellevue Golf Club. Our tournament will include 18 holes of golf, a cookout, cocktail dinner, auction and prizes. All proceeds from the Golf Tournament will benefit the Melrose Family YMCA Annual Fund.

MOVIE NIGHT UNDER THE STARS Friday, July 22 7:30pm-9:30pm Join us at the Saugus Family YMCA outdoor pool center for a movie under the stars! We will play a kid-friendly flick on a portable screen poolside. Complimentary popcorn will be served and the Snack Shack will be open to purchase additional snacks. Please bring a chair or blanket for your family to relax on while you enjoy the show. We will kick off the evening with movie trivia at 7:45pm and begin the movie at 8:00pm.

UPCOMING EVENTS 40+ MEMBER SWIM MEET Saturday, July 23 Time TBD Join us for a fun swim meet for adults ages 40 and older. Pick your events from 50 yards to 500 yards, stroke, IM and relays. All proceeds from the event will support the Melrose Family YMCA Annual Fund which ensures no one in our community is turned away for inability to pay.

CAMP FIRE FAMILY NIGHT

DEAD LIFT BARBECUE Time & Day TBD Join us for a late summer evening of some of your favorite things! We will provide food, cold drinks, and a 45 pound bar to load with the weights of your choice. You provide the muscle and an appetite. All proceeds go towards the Melrose Family YMCA Annual Fund. The cost of $30 includes food and drinks, warm-up, and 3 lifts for 1RM. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female lifts!

Join us for a camp fire by the pool at the Saugus Family YMCA. We will be roasting marshmallows, making s’mores and singing songs by the campfire! Marshmallows and sticks will be provided.

This class is for children who have little or no water experience or have a fear of the water. Kicking, floating, reaching, shoulder bobbing and jumping are taught. Flotation based introduction to the major 4 swimming strokes. Class includes diving skills and opportunities to practice swimming without flotation. Prerequisite: Able to paddle independently, float on their back with a flotation device and put face under the water. Children will have a level 3 bubble.

Introduction to front crawl with alternating arm recovery, rhythmic breathing and combined stroke on back will be taught. Children can swim a length of the pool on their front and back at the end of this level. Prerequisite: Swimmer must be able to swim the width of 3 lanes without flotation.

This class is for the child who has little or no experience. Jumping, bobbing, floating, kicking and gliding will be introduced, along with reaching, pulling and breathing control as the child becomes independent of the flotation devices. PRE-TEAM FINS PROGRAM These classes are designed for swimmers who are interested in learning the skills needed for competitive swimming and taught in a team format. The focus of the Fins Swim Program will be on stroke development, technique, and racing starts and turns. Swimmers should be able to swim one length of the pool freestyle and backstroke with no assistance & tread for at least 1 minute. Swimmers should own their own pair of flippers and goggles.

TRACK AND FIELD TRAINING

(ages 11-15) Train with a track star! Youth track and field is designed to provide children with training that includes sprints, middle and long distance running, and relays. This program is geared towards children who are looking to improve their track ability and prepare for the upcoming season. Small group size will allow for more one on one training. Women only class that will teach strategies for getting cut and lean using free weights, barbells and dietary adjustments. HEALTHY LIVING YOUTH & TEEN FITNESS SUMMER ATHLETIC CONDITIONING (ages 11-16) The Y Summer Athletic Conditioning program focuses on sports performance including foot speed and agility, explosive power development, functional strength training, overall conditioning, injury reduction, nutrition, and recovery counseling. The program is for off-season athletes age 11 to 16 years old. Small groups of 6 to 12 athletes will meet twice weekly for 60 minutes. Sign up for a 5 week session, or save by signing up for all 10 weeks!
