OUR FAMILY PHILOSOPHY We embrace a family-centered philosophy encouraging family interaction and regular visits with teachers to discuss your child’s development. We look forward to becoming part of your family and believe that children learn best when parents are involved in their educational program! To encourage a solid bridge between home and school we use the Tadpoles communication system which allows our teachers to capture special moments and take photos and videos of your child in action. We will share these special moments and other classroom information with you daily ensuring you remain an important part of your child’s education.
OUR STAFF As a leader in youth development the Stoneham YMCA Child Care and Program Center takes pride in the experience and dedication of our staff. All of our teachers: • Meet or exceed Department of Early Education & Care qualifications • Have extensive trainings, including CPR, First Aid and child safety protection, including but not limited to Appropriate Touch, Child Sexual Abuse Prevention, Health & Safety. • Complete a minimum of 20 hours of Professional Development including hours devoted to working with diverse learners. • Complete Individual Professional Development Plans annually in conjunction with their supervisor to increase their knowledge in the field. • Are vetted through an extensive Background Record Check, including a CORI, SORI and FBI fingerprinting. OUT-OF-SCHOOL TIME PROGRAM Our Out-Of-School Time program serves school aged children on a daily basis providing safe, quality and affordable afterschool care. While in the Out-of-School Time program, children learn how to be their best selves and continue to learn and explore their own interests at their own pace. The Stoneham YMCA Child Care and Program Center delivers high quality early education and care to children six weeks to fourteen years old. Our program supports children’s development cognitively, socially, emotionally and physically and provides each child a warm and supportive environment where they can confidently learn, grow and thrive. Each child receives a Youth Membership at the YMCA of Metro North!
EARLY LEARNING PROGRAM Our Early Learning programs are fully licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Early Education and have received NAEYC (National Association for Education of Young Children) accreditation. Flexible hours and two, three and five day options are available to meet your family’s individual needs. Our programs offer well-rounded daily schedules full of activities that are customized to your child’s individual age, needs and progress. Children are assigned a Primary Caregiver Teacher who works directly with the child each day providing personal and individualized attention.
INFANT (6 weeks – 15 months) Infants thrive in a safe, nurturing environment surrounded by experienced care givers. Your child will receive individual and customized attention in a warm and stimulating atmosphere to help create a smooth first time away experience for both of you. TODDLER (15 months - 2.9 years) Our nurturing, personal toddler care is led by experienced staff and promotes social and cognitive development in a safe and ageappropriate environment. Your child will learn important learning skills through play that build confidence and form a strong foundation for the years ahead. PRESCHOOL (2.9 years - 5 years) Our preschool program will help your young child learn essential social, physical, and intellectual building blocks for future academic success. A typical day includes independent, small group and large group activities, structured and free choice time as well as plenty of physical activity to develop healthy living habits at an early age.
AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM (5 years – 13 years) Indoor activities include homework & academic support, STEAM enrichment (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) and free choice time. Daily outdoor activities to provide plenty of physical activity are located in several town play areas.
VACATION PROGRAMS (Kindergarten - 6th Grade) Full day care is available from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on most school holidays and school vacation periods for the children enrolled on those days. This and extended care on early release days is included in the monthly fee. School cancellation days are offered in a limited capacity for an additional fee.
TRANSPORTATION Transportation is provided to the program from the following Stoneham Public Schools: South, Colonial Park, Robin Hood, Central and the Middle School.
