Parent/Child 3: ages 3-4 The final step in our Parent/Child series. In addition to beginner swimming, basic water adjustment and safety skills will also be introduced. Mom & Bubs Water Fitness:

Pike: ages 3-6

This class is for children who have little or no water experience or have a fear of the water. Kicking, floating, reaching, shoulder bobbing and jumping are taught. Children will have a level 4 or fully inflated bubble. Flotation based introduction to the major 4 swimming strokes. Class includes diving skills and opportunities to practice swimming without flotation. Prerequisite: Able to paddle independently, float on their back with a flotation device and put face under the water. Children will have a level 3 bubble. Ray: ages 3-6 Learn rotary breathing and improve stamina for swimming strokes. Class goal is to eliminate flotation completely and swim independently. Star Fish: ages 3-6 Introduction to front crawl with alternating arm recovery, rhythmic breathing and combined stroke on back will be taught. Children can swim a length of the pool on their front and back at the end of this level. Prerequisite: Swimmer must be able to swim the width of 3 lanes without flotation. Pre-Team Fins Program: ages 4+

ADULT SWIM

These classes are designed for swimmers who are interested in learning the skills needed for competitive swimming and taught in a team format. The focus of the Fins Swim Program will be on stroke development, technique, and racing starts and turns. Swimmers should be able to swim one length of the pool freestyle and backstroke with no assistance & tread for at least 1 minute. Swimmers should own their own pair of flippers and goggles. Polliwog: ages 6+ This class is for the child who has little or no experience. Jumping, bobbing, floating, kicking and gliding will be introduced, along with reaching, pulling and breathing control as the child becomes independent of the flotation devices. TEEN SWIM Guppy: ages 6+

Swimmers must swim half the length of the pool without assistance and submerge their face in the water to enter this class. They are introduced to the basics of the major four swim strokes in addition to rotary breathing. Minnow: ages 6+ Swimmers must swim 1 length of front crawl with rhythmic breathing and 1 length of backstroke to enter this class. The children refine the lead up strokes they have learned as their strokes become more developed. Mon: 5:00pm Tue: 3:30pm, 5:00pm Wed: 4:15pm Thu: 4:15pm Sat: 10:00am, 10:45am Sun: 10:30am

Fish: ages 6+ These swimmers can swim 2 lengths of each stroke: Front Crawl, Back Crawl, and Rudimentary Breaststroke. They should have a concept of the Breaststroke kick. Mon: 3:30pm Wed: 5:00pm Thu: 5:00pm

Teen Swim Lessons:

ages 12+ | 30 minute classes A class for teens who have never had swim lessons before. This is a beginner level class to help teens build confidence in the water. Mon: 5:45pm

Adult Beginner Swim Lessons:

ages 17+ | 30 minute class This is the place to start for adults who don’t have a lot of prior swimming experience. Participants will become more confident in the water and will learn the fundamentals of swimming and aquatic safety. Mon: 10:00am Tue: 5:45pm

Adult Stroke Development:

ages 17+ | 30 minute class Develop basic swim strokes and use swimming as a source of fitness. It is recommended that participants have taken beginner swim lessons before enrolling in stroke development. Mon: 11:15am Wed: 5:45pm

Advanced Adult/Conditioning M: $75 N: $113 ages 17+ | 30 minute class This program provides workouts for triathletes and fitness swimmers. This class will aim to meet everyone’s needs. All levels encouraged to participate. Thu: 5:45pm

PIRANHAS SWIM TEAM The TYP Piranhas Swim Team is for children and teens between the ages of 6-18 years old. The team is designed to physically condition young swimmers and work towards perfecting competitive swimming skills. The season consists of competitions against other Y swim teams in our division as well as a variety of invitational and championship teams. The summer season begins September 12th and runs through the beginning of March. The Piranhas Swim Team is organized in multiple levels to allow swimmers to practice at levels congruent with their age, physical and technical abilities. Try outs will be held in order to place each swimmer into an appropriate level. If you are 8 and under, you must be able to swim 25 yards (one length) of both Backstroke and Freestyle and show a motivation to learn more about the strokes. If you are 9 and over, you must be able to swim 50 yards (two lengths) of both backstroke and freestyle and show a motivation to learn more about the strokes. Y-USA Guarding Certificate Re-certification:

Springboard Diving:

ages 7+ | 60 minute class Learn the basics of competitive diving. Students will practice approaches such as forward and back jumps in straight position, pike and tuck body positions, and forward and back dives. In this class participants must be able to pass the deep water test and do a forward dive from the side of the pool. Sat: 8:30am

Advanced Springboard Diving:

ages 11+ | 60 minute class This class is for divers who have been promoted from the beginner class or high school divers who want to perfect their advanced skills. Instructor recommendation is required. Sat: 9:30am

PRIVATE LESSONS (members only) Private lessons are a great way to learn to swim or improve stroke techniques. Each lesson lasts 30 minutes. To register, fill out a request form at the Welcome Center. Lifeguard Training: ages15+ M: $300 N: $425 Students will be trained in the nationally recognized Red Cross Lifeguard Course including CPR, First Aid, 0xygen and AED. Certification is determined by successful completion of a comprehensive written exam and water test. Swimming skills are a prerequisite and attendance in all classes is mandatory. Babysitting & Pool Safety: ages11-14 Red Cross Lifeguard Recertification: M: $100 N: $150 This is a 4 hour review and testing to re-certify for American Red Cross Life Guard, CPR/FA/AED and Optional Oxygen. Students should come to the review prepared and ready to show their skills. Certification must be current. Red Cross no longer accepts expired certification. Prior to taking this re-certification, please take the online refresher course found at www.redcrossrefresher.com. Refresher courses for both Lifeguarding and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers should be completed. Date: Thursday, October 27th Time: 7:00pm

F: $100 M: $150 N: $200 Designed for students ages 11 to 14, this training provides the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for infants and children up to the age of 10, as well as to manage a babysitting business. This course also gives 10 to 14 year olds a sneak peek into what it takes to become a great lifeguard. Some topics for this combo class will cover First Aid, choking, CPR, medical emergencies, diapering, spoon feeding, water safety and more! Digital certificate available upon successful completion of course. Participants must be able to swim 100 yards (4 lengths of the pool). Tues: 4:00pm

Lift Heavy, Look Lean: 60 minute class | M: $70 N: $140 Join certified personal trainer Frank Ricardo in this new one-hour class that will highlight and explore the proper lifting techniques in order to achieve optimal results! Whether you are new to weight lifting or just looking to change up your fitness routine, this class is for you. Sun: 9:00am

Adult Ballet: 60 minute class | M: $70 N: $140 This class combines Ballet, Barre, Pilates, and toning exercises. Using the barre and other equipment, participants will focus on small movements to target the areas of core, thighs, buttocks, and arms. Tue: 5:30pm Wed: 5:30pm

Tai Chi: 50 minute class | M: $58 N: $116 Tai Chi is moving meditation which focuses and quiets the mind, involving a series of gentle, slow movements and deep breathing. Tai Chi is a great way to reduce stress, while potentially reducing pain from arthritis and improving immune system function. Mon: 10:30am

Basic/Intermediate Ballroom Dancing: 60 minute class | M: $105/couple N: $190/couple Competitive men’s league ages 30+ runs for 10 weeks with playoffs to follow. Games are 5 on 5 with certified referees and a score keeper. Thu: 7:30pm

Pre & Post Natal Class 60 minute class | M: $70 N: $140 This class is designed for the pre & postnatal mom. It’s hard being pregnant and also getting back into a routine with a little one around, so we’re giving you the opportunity to bring that little one with you (children should be stroller or carrier age). Whether this class is to get you in shape for your new bundle to arrive, an escape from your little one or a chance to spend

quality time with your baby, this class is the perfect option! Class includes intervals, along with strength and conditioning techniques to make every “mama” feel better and stronger. NOTE: If you are prenatal or less than 11 weeks postnatal, you will need a waiver signed by your doctor before you can begin the first paid class. Wed: 10:30am Fri: 10:30am

Nutritional Therapy Consultation: M: $280 N: $380 Balance your body chemistry and achieve optimal wellness with nutrition. You and your Nutritional Therapy Consultant will develop an easy to use road map to healthy eating. The YMCA of Metro North and the Torigian Family YMCA are excited to announce the first annual YMCA of Metro North Half Marathon, the only half marathon in Peabody. The race will start at Lt. Ross Park (Cy Tenney) and proceed north on the Independence Parkway into West Peabody, winding through local neighborhoods before ultimately finishing back at Lt. Ross Park.

Games are adapted to NCAA game rules, include two, 20 minute running halves, and are officiated by two IAABO certified referees with live ingame scorekeepers! Team standings and player stats are posted online (30+ league only). This adult basketball league also competes in single elimination play-offs and All-Star Teams. Youth Basketball Association: F: $145 M: $165 N: $190 All leagues use age-appropriate basketballs and hoops settings and are focused on fun and fair play. Our trained volunteer coaches will guide the players through fun games & skill building drills while emphasizing learning, teamwork and sportsmanship. Each child will receive a team jersey. Players learn the proper techniques and the fundamentals of dribbling, passing & shooting and learn the basic rules of the game. For the first 30 minutes, volunteer parent coaches help players build skills, and then, lead a 30-minute game against another Y team. Player uniforms are provided. Children’s Meditation: Several studies have shown that children who meditate gain many rewards. This class will show your child this simple practice, which will help to increase creativity, reduce stress and support brain development. Class includes creative activities along with a short guided meditation and discussions to incorporate these techniques into their daily lives. Please dress in comfortable clothing.
