Pre-Team Fins Program: 4+ years These classes are designed for swimmers who are interested in learning the skills needed for competitive swimming and taught in a team format. The focus of the Fins Swim Program will be on stroke development, technique, and racing starts and turns. Swimmers should be able to swim one length of the pool freestyle and backstroke with no assistance & tread for at least 1 minute. Swimmers should own their own pair of flippers and goggles. The PLYP Piranhas Swim Team is for children and teens between the ages of 6-18 years old. The team is designed to physically condition young swimmers and work towards perfecting competitive swimming skills. The season consists of competitions against other Y swim teams in our division as well as a variety of invitational and championship teams. The summer season begins in May and runs through the start of August. The Piranhas Swim Team is organized in multiple categories to allow swimmers to practice at levels congruent with their age, physical and technical abilities. Try outs will be held in order to place each swimmer into an appropriate level. If you are 8 and under, you must be able to swim 25 yards (one length) of both Backstroke and Freestyle and show a motivation to learn more about the strokes. If you are 9 and over, you must be able to swim 50 yards (two lengths) of both backstroke and freestyle and show a motivation to learn more about the strokes. All swimmers must be a YMCA of Metro North member.
Private lessons are a great way to learn to swim or improve stroke techniques. Each lesson lasts 30 minutes. To register, fill out a request form at the Welcome Center. Springboard Diving:

Students will practice approaches such as forward and back jumps in straight position, pike and tuck body positions, and forward and back dives. Advanced Springboard Diving:

TORIGIAN FAMILY YMCA AQUATICS CERTIFICATION CLASSES Lifeguard Training: 15+ years M: $300 N: $425 Students will be trained in the nationally recognized Red Cross Lifeguard Course including CPR, First Aid, 02 and AED. Certification is determined by successful completion of a comprehensive written exam and water test. Swimming skills are a prerequisite and attendance in all classes is mandatory. This course also gives 10 to 14 year olds a sneak peek into what it takes to become a great lifeguard. Some topics for this combo class will cover First Aid, choking, CPR, medical emergencies, diapering, spoon feeding, water safety and more! Join us for the Torigian Family YMCA annual 5k Dash and Splash! This twilight run will take you through the streets of Peabody and end with a party and a SPLASH in the Torigian Family YMCA outdoor pool! All proceeds benefit the Torigian Family YMCA’s Growing Stronger Together scholarship fund which ensures no one in the community is turned away for inability to pay.
The YMCA of Metro North and the Torigian Family YMCA are excited to announce the first annual YMCA of Metro North Half Marathon, the only half marathon in Peabody. The race will start at Lt. Ross Park (Cy Tenney) and proceed north on the Independence Parkway into West Peabody, winding through local neighborhoods before ultimately finishing back at Lt. Ross Park.

Messy Play:
2-4 years | 45 minute class Enjoy painting, watercolors, chalk, play dough, glitter and glue. Wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty. Tue: 10:00am
Alphabet Preschool Bookworms:
1.5-4 years | 45 minute class Learn a new letter of the alphabet every week. Read a book and do a craft that tie in with the letter we are learning that week. Wed: 10:30am
Little Builders:
3-5years | 45 minute class In this class, children will build puzzles, blocks, Lego’s and more! Thu: 9:00am
Pint Sized Painting:
2-4 years | 45 minute class Various art supplies will be used to inspire artistic skills. Thu: 10:00am
Toddler Time:
1.5-4 years | 60 minute class F: $20 M: $30 N: $50 Stop by with your little ones for some supervised free play in our gymnasium. This is the perfect time for you and your child to meet and play with other families, while learning about our programs that are available to you! Fri: 10:30am
Frisbee:
9-12 years | 45 minute class F: $70 M: $105 N: $140 Come learn and play both Frisbee Golf and Ultimate Frisbee in this action packed class! Wed: 5:00pm
