Adult Swim Adult Beginner Swim Lessons

Adult Swim Stroke Development

This is the place to start for adults who do not have a lot of prior swimming experience. Participants will become more confident in the water and will learn the fundamentals of swimming and aquatic safety.

Develop basic swim strokes and use swimming as a source of fitness. It is recommended that participants have taken beginner swim lessons before or have prior experience. Participants should be able to swim at minimum one length of the pool.

Swim Evaluations Not sure what stage to sign your child up for? Come in for a swim evaluation. Please contact Jose Medina, Aquatics Director, at jmedina@metronorthymca.org to make an appointment. Swim evaluations will take place on Saturdays from 12:30pm to 2:30pm.

Swim Testing All swimmers under 18 need to be swim tested in order to use the deep end of the pool. Swim test includes swimming 25 yards in a horizontal position, jumping into deep water, and treading water for 30 seconds. Swimmers who do not pass or choose not to take it must remain in the shallow end. Children under 10 years of age or shorter than 50 inches must wear a U.S. Coast Guard personal flotation device (PFD). Swimmers who are in the pool with parents at arm’s length may be excused of using a PFD. Anyone under the age of 7, regardless of ability, must be within arm’s reach of an adult at all times. Lifeguards reserve the right to retest swimmers.

A swim class specifically designed for swimmers who wish to join a swim team in the future. Taught by experienced aquatic instructors with a competitive swim background. Little Piranhas will prepare children for the swim team through stroke drills, endurance sets, flip turns, and race starts. For those of Youth Level 5 and 6 ability who are looking for a more competitive next step. Sun

Piranhas Summer Swim Team Summer: June 24- August 30 The Piranhas swim team is for swimmers ages 6-18. The swim team practices multiple days a week. For more information, contact Jose Medina at jmedina@metronorthymca.org. Summer Tryouts June 20 & 21: 6:00pm June 22: 12:00pm

Specialty Youth Swim Beginner Springboard Diving

Adaptive Swim Academy

Learn the basics of competitive diving. Divers must be able to pass the deep end swim test and do a forward dive from the side of the pool.

This class provides basic swim skills and teaches essential water safety techniques with the needs of each individual. Participant must begin the session accompanied by an adult in the water. This course is taught by special education teacher and Adaptive Aquatics Specialist Rachel Ellyson M. Ed.

45 Minutes Runners will log laps in our indoor track or through campground trails while learning basics of calisthenics, endurance, pace, and proper running and stretching technique. Age Key: 1: Ages 3-5 | 2: Ages 5-7 I 3: Ages 8-13

Creative Movement

45 Minutes | Ages 2.5-5 A joyful way for children to explore movement through music, dance, and yoga, while allowing them to express themselves creatively in their own way!

Messy Play

Adult Fitness HIIT Training with Justin

Sunday Sampler

High Intensity Interval Training is a proven method to help burn fat, build lean muscle mass and improve cardiovascular endurance. This type of training is appropriate for ALL fitness levels. Participants will perform short blocks of intense exercises followed by shorter recovery times under the supervision of a certified personal trainer. Participants should be able to jog and be comfortable training outside when weather permits.

Looking for a way to mix up your workouts or to try something new? This small group training will range from weight training to bodyweight to cardio, and everything in between. Whether you’re looking to get out of a fitness rut, or just looking for a new challenge, this class is for you.
