Mission
Membership HOLdS
The YMCA of Greater New York is a community service organization that promotes positive values through programs that build spirit, mind and body, welcoming all people with a focus on youth.
Members may put their membership on hold for 1 - 3 months during any calendar year. A monthly hold fee of $10/ month will be charged and all membership privileges will be suspended while your membership is on hold. We require a fifteen (15) day advance written notice on membership holds. Membership will automatically resume after the hold.
Policy of Non-Discrimination YMCA membership is available to all persons regardless of race, religion, gender, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or financial circumstances. The YMCA welcomes families and persons of all ages, income levels, and physical conditions with an emphasis on responsibility and self-improvement.
Membership Guarantee Membership in the YMCA is fully guaranteed. Members who are not completely satisfied with their YMCA membership are entitled to a refund of any unused portion of their membership.

Camera Policy For the privacy and security of all—especially our kids and teens—we do not allow any photo or video recording without permission from the Executive Director.
• Our family-friendly locker room is a good alternative for parents who wish to accompany their child under the age of 8 and of the opposite gender.
YMCA “AWAY” policy As a YMCA member, you have access to YMCAs across the country and around the world. You must present a valid YMCA ID to be eligible to use AWAY (Always Welcome at the YMCA) privileges. Call ahead to check on individual branch policies.
• Rates and schedules are subject to change. • Membership may be paid in full by cash, personal checks, MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover cards.
• If a check or an automatic bank draft is returned for insufficient funds a service fee of $15.00 will be added to the payment amount.
Lost Cards Please let us know if your card is lost or stolen. There is a $5 fee to issue a replacement card.
• Lockers are available for daily use. Please bring your own lock and secure your belongings when using the facility. Lockers will be clipped at the end of each day.
• Membership dues must be up-to-date in order to use facility.

Y FIT START | FREE FOR MEMBERS “Our goal is to help you reach yours!” If you’ve been thinking about exercising but don’t know where to begin, the Y FIT START PROGRAM is for you. It’s designed for those new to exercising or those who haven’t exercised for some time and want instruction, support, and motivation. The Y FIT START PROGRAM will help you develop and maintain a physically active lifestyle to meet your own personal needs and goals. Youth Intro to Sports
Kids aged 4-7 will learn fundamentals of various sports including: basketball, soccer, baseball, tennis, kickball, and hockey.
Private swim classes provide individual attention to students who wish to perfect their swimming techniques with a qualified instructor. Lessons are geared toward individuals who wish to perfect swimming techniques taught at different levels. All private swim lessons expire six months from date of purchase. Kettlebells
This is a total body workout that blends highly effective techniques for improving muscular endurance, total body coordinated movements and cardiovascular conditioning. If you are at high risk for type 2 diabetes, this program can help you adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles that will help you reduce your chances of developing diabetes.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
In a classroom setting, a trained lifestyle coach will help facilitate a small group of participants in learning about healthier eating, physical activity and other behavior changes over the course of 16 one-hour sessions. After the initial 16 core sessions, participants meet monthly for added support to help them maintain their progress.
PROGRAM GOALS:
• Reduce body weight by 7% • Increase physical activity to 150 minutes per week
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
In order to qualify for the program, you must be at least 18 years old, overweight (BMI > 25)* and at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes or have been diagnosed with prediabetes† by a healthcare provider. Pike (AGES 3 - 5 YEARS) This level helps children develop safe pool behavior, adjust to the water, and develop independent movement in the water. It is designed for new swimmers, teaching basic paddle stroke and kicking skills, pool safety, and comfort in holding their faces in the water while blowing bubbles and swimming. Eel (AGES 3 - 5 YEARS) This level is for children who are comfortable in the water. They are taught to flutter kick, dive, float, and perform progressive paddle stroke. Fish Students work to perform the crawl stroke, elementary back stroke, back crawl stroke, and sidestroke with turns. They are introduced to the butterfly stroke. Flying Fish At this level, students work on refining their strokes and increasing their endurance. Shark Students at this level continue to improve their strokes, with starts and turns, and are introduced to inverted breast stroke, and the over arm sidestroke. Porpoise At this final level, students are exposed to a wide range of aquatic experiences through class activities. They learn volunteerism and leadership skills. Advanced The students are taught breast stroke and butterfly strokes beside

Teen Programs Teen Programs provide a safe space to socialize, seek support, and prepare youth for higher education. Through various programs and workshops, our goal is to empower, inspire and teach young people to be leaders. TEEN CENTER Teen Center is open to teens from the local community and offers free activities such as sports, games, fitness, and swimming. Teen Center takes place Wednesdays and Fridays 4:00-6:30pm. LEADERS CLUB | AGES 14 - 18 YEARS A nationally recognized core YMCA teen program provides participants with opportunities for leadership training, personal growth, service to others and social development. Teens meet on a weekly basis in small groups, working closely with their peers and an adult advisor on skill and character building activities, as well as planning and organizing projects with an emphasis on educational success, community service and goal-setting. Leaders Club helps more than 1,900 teens ages 11-19 find the leader within. TEENS TAKE THE CITY | AGES 14 - 18 YEARS Teens Take the City is different from all other teen leadership programs because it is designed to give teens the tools they need to become active influences in the community. Meeting once a week, Teens Take the City teaches teens all about New York City government and gives participants the opportunity to research and debate topics of their choosing. The subjects discussed in the Teens Take the City program will focus on issues that impact teen’ everyday lives.
YOUTH SWIM LESSONS | AGES 6-11 YEARS fee based Polliwog This is the beginning level for school-age children. It gets children acquainted with the pool, the use of floatation devices, and front and back floating, as well as learning the front, side, and back paddle stroke. Guppy At this level, children continue to practice and build upon basic skills, now performing more skills without the aid of a floatation device. They are introduced to lead-up strokes they have learned as their skills become more like those normally used in swimming. Minnow This is the initial intermediate level. Everyone’s safety is important to us, especially children. We ask that all abide by our pool guidelines. 1. Street shoes are not allowed on the pool deck
