The Prospect Park YMCA is Here for Good every day of the year, and never more so than in challenging and uncertain times by continuing to offer lifeenhancing Y programs to our community. With over 130 years of experience and an additional location at the Park Slope Armory we are committed to you. Last year we reached over 35,000 people, more than to 12,000 of whom were local youth and teens. We are so grateful to be able to offer programs and participation to our community despite their ability to pay. In 2010 every child in our Lisa Beth Gerstman Special Needs Camp participated on at least 50% financial aid; we enrolled more than 900 children in our after school programs at 11 locations throughout Brooklyn completely free of charge; we had the ability to provide financial assistance to hundreds of members in financial crisis; and have launched our new teen center. Without the support of our community through the Strong Kids Campaign none of this would have been possible. Your support of the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign gives children and families, in our community, the chance to grow stronger in spirit, mind and body. This year we have seen tremendous growth in membership granting us the priviledge to start more children and families off on the right foot through access to healthy lifestyle programs at the Prospect Park Y. Please consider investing in our children and community by making a generous donation to the Strong Kids Campaign this year. To find out how you can contribution to the Strong Kids Campaign and learn more about other giving opportunities please contact Megan King, Director of Fund Development and Communications at (212) 912-2371 or via email at mking@ymcanyc.org. Thank you for helping to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities! All donations to the Prospect Park YMCA Strong Kids Campaign are taxdeductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Strong Kids Testimonial

-Alvin

The Strong Kids Campaign provides teens like Alvin the opportunity to participate in challenging, educational and fun programs that are absolutely free of charge.

STRONG KIDS CAMPAIGN

“This was my first year in the teen programs. So far I’ve participated in Youth & Government, Teens Take the City, and FutureWorks. I’ve taken a lot from these programs- new friends, eyeopening experiences and opportunities to open doors that wouldn’t otherwise be opened. My favorite experience was taking a trip to Albany to defend a bill I had written. The weekend was completely run by teens and we had the opportunity to defend and fight for what is important to us. I’ve already started recommending the program to friends and I can’t wait for next year’s trip to Albany.”

Automatic Program Registration This unique service is for youth members only. As a convenience to those who vacation during the summer, the annual cycle for program registration is similar to the school year. Automatic Program Registration works as follows: Complete the Program Registration Authorization Agreement. Choose a day of the week on which you would like to register your child for class. We will make every effort to sign your child up for the day and time that you choose. As always, there are no guarantees. Class enrollment depends upon class availability and capacity. Please note, you do not choose the sessions. Once enrolled, you are committed to a full year of registration. We will register your child, using the credit card number you have authorized us to draft. You are responsible for expired or declined credit cards and for keeping the child's membership current. A $15 service fee will be charged for declined transactions. If we are unable to register your child for any of the above reasons, you will be required to Register during the Member Walk-in Registration for that session. We will continue registering your child each session until you complete a cancellation form that will discontinue automatic registration until the following year. You can register for this service in our membership office. In order to continue this service, a new authorization form must be filled out annually. An annual fee of $30 will be charged for this service. Financial Assistance The YMCA provides assistance for memberships to those who are facing financial difficulties. Every year, members and friends support our campaign to raise money enabling us to offer needbased scholarships.
