Welcome I started as the Executive Director of the Dodge YMCA one year ago this May and I am pleased by the growth and achievements that our branch has made. We have maintained our high level of service even as our membership has grown, with more classes and programs offered on a daily basis. We have sought to improve our communications with all of you and launched our Facebook page earlier this year, allowing everyone to stay updated with all of our upcoming programs and events. The Dodge YMCA continues to offer programs for every level of fitness and interest from our Rumble and Tumble classes, to our Active Older Adults programs, with a Synchronized Swimming class in between! In May we led a campaign for all 20 branches of the YMCA of Greater New York to help facilitate the opening of a new YMCA in the Dominican Republic. I have personally spent many hours volunteering at their current YMCA, and I can say without a doubt that our assistance is greatly appreciated and needed. Even though the Dodge YMCA is here to serve the members of our communities in Brooklyn, we must always remember that we are here to service all of those in need. Don’t forget to keep your eyes open for some changes that will be coming to our YMCA in the fall of this year…we promise to continue to deliver our same great programs and services with a brighter and colorful twist!

our history The YMCA of Greater New York was established in 1852, and formed in 1853 by a special act of the New York State Legislature to serve young men as they moved to New York City. The YMCA was their safe haven for lodging, recreation, social activities and spiritual growth. It is the second oldest and the largest YMCA association in the United States. Over the years, the YMCA of Greater New York has grown tremendously to encompass 20 YMCA Branches, 200 program sites throughout the five boroughs, three camps and one conference center upstate. It is part of a World Alliance of YMCAs in 130 countries. For many years we have welcomed and served the diverse community in which we are situated. Our proud heritage is expressed in our mission statement. After 38 years we finally have a home. Fridays September 30, October 14, November 18 & December 9 Do you need time to go out to dinner, go shopping or just relax? Dodge Family Members can leave their children ages 5-12 with trained staff at the Dodge YMCA. During Parents Night Out, your kids will make new friends, participate in a safe and fun evening of games, sports, movies, and arts & crafts. All children must be registered. Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm; Ages: 5-12; Fee: Members, $15 per child; Non-Members, $20 per child; Minimum of 6 registered children required to run program. Monday June 27 - Thursday June 30, 2011; 8:00 am – 6:00 pm Are the kids out of school but you are stuck at work? No worries...Holiday Camp offers fun-filled days of activities including arts, cooking, sports, swimming, and local trips. Join us for a day or two, or the entire week. Registration required. Please note: Minimum enrollment is 5, and availability is subject to change. All children must submit a medical form valid for a checkup within the 12 months prior to their first day of camp. Sage and Memoirs for Mom: We are proud to offer 2 free writing programs to our community. Our Sage writing class is geared towards women aged 50 and older and offers an opportunity for free ceative writing with topics ranging from: The rewards and challenges of growing older, health issues, philosophical insights and family issues. Memoirs for Mom is a writing workshop for mothers, expectant mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, foster mothers and fathers to stimulate self-discovery and growth, create “written snapshots” of your children’s childhood, write essays, articles, books for publication, and connect with other moms who like to write. YMCA’S DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM Reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes with the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program (YDPP). If you are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes, The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program can help you adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles that will help you reduce your chances of developing diabetes. Over the course of 16 weekly one-hour sessions, a trained lifestyle coach will help you learn about healthy eating, getting started with physical activity, overcoming stress, staying motivated and other behavior changes, all in a comfortable classroom setting. Member Services CHILDWATCH (6 months - 5 year olds) Do you need someone to look after your child while you work out? We’re here for you! Members may take your child to the Dodge YMCA Child Watch Program. Kids will enjoy creative play in a fun safe environment with responsible Dodge YMCA staff members. Child Watch will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. Child Watch will work using a pre-pay voucher system. You may prepay for a voucher at the Membership Desk. Each voucher will entitle you to one hour of service. Program is available to members only. Please register at the Member Services Desk no earlier than 48 hours in advance. Child Watch Staffing - The Child watch room will be staffed by YMCA employees, who have completed Child Abuse Prevention Training and are over 18 years of age. Staff with First Aid and CPR training are always available in case of an emergency. Location: Child Watch Room (Conference room in July and August) Day & Time: Monday and Wednesday - 9:00 am - 2:00 pm, 3:00pm - 6:00pm; Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday - 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. Early Childhood Health & Fitness Programs These physical fitness programs are designed to encourage our younger children to enjoy using their bodies, learn to move correctly, and develop self-confidence through physical activity. Baby Boot Camp (6 weeks - 24 months) Baby Boot Camp strives to enhance the lives of mothers/ caregivers through safe and effective fitness classes. With Baby Boot Camp you can jump start your weight loss, strengthen your abdominals, improve posture, and incease your energy while enjoying the support of other mothers and caregivers. Location: Studio B Day & Time: See current Group Exercise Schedule for class day & time Cost: Free to Members RUMBLE AND TUMBLE (18 - 36 months) A motor development and movement awareness class that includes activities such as stretching, aerobics, balancing, ball play, and songs in a loosely structured and relaxed environment that promotes physical strength, flexibility, confidence, self-esteem and fun. TENNIS FOUNDATIONS (3.5 - 6 year olds) This is a great introduction to the sport of tennis. Trained coaches will instruct on the basics, such as court awareness, skills, and etiquette with the improved assistance of the new Sport Wall. All skills and techniques will be taught in the form of games an physical activities. Tennis has become a sport for all to enjoy and play for a lifetime. Children engage in stories and books as well as activities that develop creativity, explore identities, solidify learning concepts and build self-confidence. Children participate in guided projects and explore different art mediums. Location: Classroom A Day & Time: Mondays: 11:00 am - 11:45am; Tuesdays: 10:00 am - 11:45 am pm Member Cost: $110 per session Program-Member Cost: $160 per session SOCCER SPIKES (3 - 5 year olds) Soccer spikes is an energetic program that provides children with the opportunity to run and play while emphasizing teamwork and positivity. The program features a variety of engaging exercises designed to familiarize young players to the agme of soccer. Coaches utilize age and level appropriate teaching tools and activities. Location: Gymnasium Day & Time: Mondays 3:30pm - 4:15pm Members: $110 per session; Program-Member Cost: $160 per session
Family Swim Class (children must be over 5 years old) Learn stroke development, personal safety, rescues, water sports, games and more a a family. Maximum 4 per family. Member Cost: $375 per session Program-Member Cost: $450 per session Fridays: 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm Parent-Child (for infants and toddlers, 6 months to 3 years old) The primary objective is to get both the parent and child comfortable in the water. The child will become aware of the differences between moving through water and on dry land, while the parent will become aware of how to teach his or her child to be safer in and around the water. Classes are designed to allow the child to have fun in the water while the parent guides him or her to learn aquatic skills. The child will be exposed to games that use basic movements in the water such as kicking, arm strokes, and breath control. Activities are based on the developmental abilities of the child. The Parent-Child program has four levels, all determined by age. Classes meet once per week. Member Cost: $110 per session Program-Member Cost: $170 per session

The YMCA is the pioneer in swimming lessons and water safety. We offer a variety of progressive aquatics programs for all ages and fitness levels. YMCA Swim instruction is delivered in a student-centered, caring atmosphere with well-trained instructors who give personalized attention. Lessons are developmentally appropriate and designed to quickly and effectively teach skills and encourages students to develop a lifelong interest in aquatics.
All classes run on an 8 Week Session and meet once per week. SHRIMP (6 – 8 months of age) This is a fun and low key introduction to the aquatic environment for parents and their infants. Parents are encouraged to develop appropriate expectations for their children’s performance in the water. They learn basic aquatic safety and have a positive experience with their children that can help them grow closer. Day & Time: Tuesday or Thursday: *10:00 am -10:30 am or 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm Saturday: 8:00 am - 8:30 am KIPPER (9 – 12 months of age) This level continues to provide positive aquatic experiences for parents and infants. The infants learn basic water skills and have fun playing with toys and flotation devices. Parents review and learn about basic aquatic safety. Day & Time: Tuesday or Thursday: *10:30 am -11:00 am or 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm Saturday: 8:30 am - 9:00 am INIA (13 – 18 months of age) Children do more independent exploration of the aquatic environment with help from parents. The parents again review and learn additional information about aquatic safety. The program provides opportunities for parent-child teams to socialize with each other. Day & Time: Wednesday or Friday: *10:00 am -10:30 am or 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm Saturday: 9:00 am - 9:30 am PERCH (19 – 36 months of age) Children start moving more independently through the water under their parents’ guidance. Parents learn about aquatic safety, and children begin to learn something about these topics as well. At this point the instructor begins to prepare the children to work with an instructor independently. Day & Time: Wednesday or Friday: *10:30 am -11:00 am or 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm Saturday: 9:30 am - 10:00 am

Pre-School
(3 to 5 year olds) This is a child’s first experience in the pool without parental assistance. The children are taught the basic skills that are the building blocks of swimming. They also learn about pool safety, boating safety, and the use of personal flotation devices. All classes meet once per week. Member Cost: $110 per session Program-Members: $170 per session

EEL (3 to 5 year olds) This advanced beginner level reinforces Pike skills. It is for children who are comfortable in the water. They are taught to flutter kick, float, and perform the progressive paddle stroke. Children can swim across the pool without assistance by the end of this level. Day & Time: Monday - Friday: 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm Saturday or Sunday: 10:05 am - 10:35 am RAY (3 to 5 year olds) At this level children review previous skills, improve stroke skills, build endurance by swimming on their front and back, and learn to tread water and perform more progressive diving skills. Children can swim across the pool on their front and back without assistance by the end of this level. Day & Time: Monday, Tuesday or Thursday: 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm Saturday - Sunday: 10:05 am - 10:35 am STARFISH (4 to 5 year olds) Children at this level review previously learned skills and refine their crawl and back strokes and floating skills. They also learn underwater swimming skills. Day & Time: Wednesday or Friday: 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm Saturday: 10:05 am - 10:35 am
YMCA AFTER SCHOOL SCHOOL AGED CHILDCARE (5 - 12 year olds)
When children enter the Y After School program, a whole other world of imagination and growth opens up to them. In addition to supplementing what they have learned in school, they participate in interactive learning models that engage critical thinking skills, get assistance with their homework from trained YMCA staff, have a chance to socialize with each other, and form long-lasting friendships that enhance their development, growth and self-confidence. Our curriculum is based on a program model that focuses on learning enhancement, health and recreation, and building competence and confidence in children. The program runs every regular school day, from 3:00-6:00pm, in a supervised and structured environment, providing a safe after school alternative for children. The staff-to-student ratio is 1:10 and the site capacity can range from 24 to as many as 150 children. PIKE (3 to 5 year olds) At this level, children usually begin attending classes without their parents. This level helps children develop safe pool behavior, adjust to the water, and develop independent movement in the water. It is designed for new swimmers, teaching basic paddle stroke and kicking skills, pool safety, and comfort in holding their faces in the water while blowing bubbles and swimming. Day & Time: Monday - Friday: 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm Saturday or Sunday: 10:05 am - 10:35 am

Make your next party a BIG SPLASH at the YMCA! You provide food, cake, paper goods and party room fun… We make the pool a blast! Parties are held Saturday or Sundays and fees includes up to 20 children – an additional $5 is charged for each additional child. A Saturday or Sunday afternoon party would include one hour room rental, follow by one hour of gym or pool time for up to 20 participants. Party must be paid in full, two weeks prior to party date to maintain reservation. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve the date. The Dodge YMCA summer day camp provides youth with supervised activities that teach core values, conflict resolution and leadership skills. Kids have fun while making new friends, developing new skills, learning core values, building self confidence, appreciating teamwork and growing in self-reliance. For kids, Y camps are a fun and happy place to enjoy the summer. The YMCA day camp gives children the opportunity to play games, create arts and crafts, explore science and technology, swim participate in field trips, appreciate nature and discover the value of our many cultures. The Dodge YMCA is licensed by the New York City Department of Health and accredited by the American Camping Association. Department of Health regulations also require a completed medical form to be on file for each child prior to the first day of camp. Program Location & Hours The Dodge summer day camp operates out of the state of the art Dodge YMCA facility, featuring a six-lane pool, basketball courts & gym. We also use offsite facilities such as local parks and schools to conduct our camp programs. The Dodge summer day camp operates Monday - Friday, 8:00 am- 4:00 pm. Extended Hours are available from 4:00 6:00 pm for an additional fee.

Youth swim Lessons
The YMCA is the pioneer in swimming lessons and water safety. We offer a variety of progressive aquatics programs for all ages and fitness levels. At the YMCA we enjoy teaching swimming and water safety for several reasons. First, swim lessons serve as an avenue for building character. The YMCA Swim Lessons Program incorporates discussion about and draws attention to four core values – caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Program activities are designed to help children accept and demonstrate these positive values. Second, YMCA Swim instruction is delivered in a student-centered, caring atmosphere with welltrained instructors who give personalized attention. Lessons are developmentally appropriate and designed to quickly and effectively teach skills. Finally, safety is a high priority.
POLLIWOG I This is the beginning level for school-age children. It gets children acquainted with the pool, and front and back floating. By the end of this level, they should know the front paddle stroke, side and back paddle, and some synchronized swimming and wetball movements. GUPPY (6 to 12 year olds) The children continue to practice and build upon basic skills, now performing more skills without the aid of a flotation device. Prerequisite: Swim 25 yards front crawl with rotary breathing, flutter kick and good arm stroke. Swim back crawl 25 yards with a good flutter kick and arm stroke. Procedures: Patron must purchase a Private Sports Training pack at the membership desk. After you have purchased your package, your name and information will be forwarded to the youth sports department. You will be contacted by the sports department about the date and time of your lessons (unless the member has already established that with the instructor). Every YMCA branch in New York City is reaching out to kids in their neighborhood programs to enroll them in the YMCA Strong Kids Card initiative. Children will be able to participate in the free programs such as Kid’s Yoga and the ExerGames Room. To register your child for a free YMCA Strong Kids Card, simply pick up a brochure at the membership desk, fill it out & send it with your child to their YMCA program. YOUTH AND GOVERNMENT (12 - 17 year olds) YMCA Youth & Government encourages students to develop leadership skills and self-confidence to last a lifetime, through the study of public issues, debate of public policy, writing of legislation and an experience in the State Government process. While working throughout the year as jurists, attorneys, legislators and members of the press corps, students emerge as confident peer role models and young leaders at the annual model government session at the State Capitol.
TEENS TAKE THE CITY (12 - 17 year olds) Are you a New York City teen looking to be heard, make a difference in your community, or change the world? If you are, you need to join YMCA Teens Take the City. Teens Take the City is a dynamic leadership development program that offers teens opportunities to roll up their sleeves and get involved in issues affecting them and their community. Participants embark on an eight-month adventure where they explore four fundamental areas of civic involvement: What’s the Problem? Teens engage in community mapping and interviewing activities to figure how to better their community. Students work in small groups to identify a policy proposal/resolution idea. What Can We Do? Students develop a policy proposal, learn the history and function of NYC government, read City Council Committee Reports, and meet and interview a NYC official. At the end of this component, teens gather at a citywide mid-program event to elect a Youth Mayor, Youth Borough Presidents, and prepare for the City Hall Conference. Let’s Take Action! Once students have developed a policy proposal they will implement their initiatives in their respective communities through service learning activities. Here’s Our Answer! The program culminates with a day of legislative hearings at NY City Hall where participants showcase their research and resolutions to their peers. YMCA TEEN COUNCIL The YMCA Teen Council is a student led council of 2-3 Leaders Club Representative from each YMCA branch. The purpose of the council is to serve as a link between all 20 branches of the YMCA of Greater New York. The teen meet twice a month on Saturdays to share ideas and concerns on youth related issues and to plan and coordinate activities on a city-wide level. Annual city-wide activities that build leadership, social, academic computer and sports skills. In addition, teens will learn how to use our exercise equipment and be able to work out. There will be opportunities for teens to go on day trips and outings as well as weekend rallies at our upstate camping facility. Nomination Required. Group Exercise Classes
Included with your membership! Here are just a few of the classes that are included with your membership. Please stop by the Member Services Desk to pick a a complete schedule of classes. STEP AEROBICS Step aerobics is a great cardio workout for all fitness levels. Using an aerobic step with or without risers, class members step up and down to the music giving a complete upper and lower body workout. Fitness trampoline Jumping only a few inches off the surface of a fitnedd trampoline, this class gives you a challenging workout without the jarring impact often associated with other types of aerobic exercise. SPINNING Spinning is a class that mimics the outdoor activity of cycling. The intensity of your workout is right at your fingertips. With a twist of the resistance knob you are climbing a hill out of the saddle and with another twist you are cruising on a straight away. BOOT CAMP Boot Camp is the complete physical fitness class. Boot Camp works on the cardiovascular system, strength, endurance and flexibility. The movements are designed to maximize your physical well being and confidence. CORE CONDITIONING AND CORE TRAINING These classes are designed to work on your “core”. The movements in the classes focus on your abdominals and lower back area.

CARDIO KICK BOXING This high energy class combines muscle conditioning with kickboxing combinations of punches and kicks in a variety of drills, exercises and self-defense techniques. INTERVAL TRAINING A challenging class of high speed, high intensity work alternated with recovery periods of low intensity.

The Dodge YMCA offers a wide variety of Health and Fitness options. You can receive basic health and fitness information or create your own personalized exercise program. In addition to a full roster of fitness classes, our facility offers modern, user-friendly equipment, a swimming pool, a basketball court, aerobics studios, saunas and steam rooms, and a host of other amenities. TOTAL BODY CONDITIONING Total Body Conditioning combines cardio and strength training in an interval class setting. STABILITY BALL Learn how to use your core more effectively and focus on strength training using stability balls. KETTTLEBELLS This is a total body workout that blends highly effective techniques for improving muscular endurance, total body coordinated movements, and cardiovascular conditioning. Each movement and progression is taught with an emphasis on safety, while highlighting essential body alignment. Take your body to the next level with Kettlebell training! Chair Exercise This total body workout incorporates cardiorespiratory training, muscular strength and endurance plus flexibility either seated or standing.

HIP HOP AEROBICS Utilizing the latest hip hop moves, this class will get you into a firm buff body through its urban dance theme. TAI CHI A system of gentle physical exercise that combines simple, flowing movements or postures in a slow, graceful manner. Tai chi is generally safe for people of all ages and fitness levels. MASTERFITNESS COMPLETE™ Get everything you need in this one hour class! Masterfitness Complete™ combines low impact aerobics, conditioning and stretching in a fun and friendly environment! GENTLE YOGA Yoga Basics teaches the art of breathing. The class involves combining simple moves incorporating breathing exercises, yoga postures and relaxation. Yoga is meant to be a nurturing form of exercise. HATHA YOGA Hatha Yoga is for everyone. Breathing techniques and postures are combined in a way that is designed to increase skills and comfort with yoga practice. VINYASA YOGA Vinyasa Yoga classes follow the flow of breathing through sequences of interweaving postures that change from class to class. These classes can be dynamic and challenging and can include advanced postures.

PILATES Pilates is named for the man who invented it: Joseph Pilates. Classes focus on the core postural muscles that help keep the body balanced and are essential to providing support for the spine. Pilates has fabulous benefits for everyone and for every fitness level. MODERN DANCE Modern dance movements that will gently shape and tone your entire body. AQUA EXERCISE Aqua Exercise is the performance of aerobic exercise in shallow water making it suitable for both swimmers and non-swimmers. Since the water provides support for the body, the risk of injury to muscles and joints is reduced while improving cardiovascular fitness and overall strength. STRETCH Stretching is an element of fitness often overlooked. Spend an hour in a relaxing atmosphere while guided in proper stretching techniques. Beginners welcome. ZUMBA® Zumba® is a fusion of Latin and International music, utilizing dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting and effective fitness program. The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. BALLET A beginner technique class that places emphasis and attention on alignment and placement of the body.

They are experienced trainers that specialize in a number of areas such as sports-specific training, working with Older Adults and post rehab. Personal Assisted Stretch or Facilitated Stretching is a gentle form of stretching designed to restore optimal function to joints. Assisted stretching allows a person to stretch with the aid of a qualified fitness professional making stretching a lot easier and enjoyable.
Body Composition Analysis
Body composition is an essential measure of health and fitness for both athletes and the general population. If you have too much fat, you’re at higher risk for such health problems as high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol and diabetes. Estimation of body fat is conducted via skinfold thickness measured with a Caliper. You’ll receive a dated printout of current body composition with fat percentage vs. lean muscle percentage, interpretation/consultation focusing on personal weight loss and desired body fat percentage goals. 1. Sessions are non-transferable and nonrefundable. 2. Sessions must be used at the Dodge YMCA. 3. All sessions expire 6 months from date of purchase. 4. Rates and Methods of Payment • Monthly payments are payable by credit card, debit card or bank draft only. There is no cash option for monthly payments. Membership may be paid in full by cash, personal checks, check card, MasterCard, VISA, Discover Card and American Express cards. • New members and renewing members (lapsed over 30 days) are required to pay initiation fee. • Membership dues must be up-to-date in order to use facility. • You may only take advantage of one discount on your Dodge YMCA membership, if applicable. • Class, program and facility schedules are subject to change without notice. • YMCA membership is non-transferable from person to person and initiation fees are non-refundable. • The YMCA reserves the right to change membership fees with 30 days written notice to members. • Discounts and financial assistance must be renewed annually.

Membership + Facility Info Dodge YMCA Guest Pass Policy Bank/Debit Card Draft
Credit Card Draft MasterCard, VISA, Discover and American Express cards may be used to make direct monthly payments to the YMCA for annual dues. A completed credit card draft agreement form and an initial payment are required. Membership renewal is automatic. You may cancel your membership at anytime with written notice 15 days prior to the date of your next draft. A $15 fee will be charged for returned drafts. Please notify the Member Service Desk if your account status changes in any way. If you need to change your payment plan, please notify the Member Services Desk in writing immediately. Adding a few dollars a month to your draft is a great and easy way to support our Strong Kids Campaign Scholarship Fund.
Our Guarantee Your membership is fully guaranteed. Your satisfaction is important to us. Any remaining portion of your membership which has been paid in full for the year will be refunded upon cancellation. Cancellation requests must be made in writing 15 days prior to next draft date, and must be done in person at the Member Services Desk.
Freeze/Cancellation of Membership Membership may be frozen for a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 3 months per membership year. When freezing a draft membership the following must apply: • Membership must be in good standing.
Program Refund Procedures •R efunds will be made only if the Dodge YMCA cancels a class. • Credit may be issued for a class withdrawal per approval of the program director. • The YMCA reserves the right to cancel any program that fails to meet enrollment requirements. • All make-up classes must be completed by the end of the current session and approved by the program director. • All credits are valid for 1 year from the date of issue. • Deposits for child-care programs are nonrefundable. • Refunds are made by check from the YMCA of Greater New York Association office, 90days from the date of approval.
The AWAY Program The AWAY (Always Welcome at YMCAs) sticker on your membership card entitles you to visit participating YMCAs in New York and other cities when you are traveling. Most YMCA’s will honor your AWAY Card. Away Program only applies to Adult and Family memberships, not for Youth and Teen memberships. • Your guests are always welcome at the YMCA, and we encourage you to use the six (6) complimentary guest passes you received when you joined. • The Dodge YMCA offers 1-Day Passes for one-time visitors. • Members must accompany their guests and are allowed to bring two guests per visit. • All guests must present a valid photo ID, sign a waiver and sign in at the Member Services Desk before admission. • Complimentary Guest Passes can not be used for Guests under 18 years of age. These guests must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian who has the authority to sign a waiver and purchase a daily pass.
POLICY + MEMBERSHIP INFO
Annual memberships may be paid in equal monthly payments automatically deducted from your checking account. A completed bank draft agreement form, voided check and an initial payment are required. Personal checks with the member’s name and address imprinted on the check are accepted with a government issued ID. If a check or an automatic bank draft is returned to the YMCA due to insufficient funds, a $15 fee will be charged. You may cancel your membership at anytime with written notice 15 days prior to the date of your next draft. Please notify the Member Service Desk if your account status changes in any way.

A confirmation of your email will be sent to you. Memberships cannot be cancelled via telephone. • Membership ID card must be submitted to the Member Services Desk for the duration of the freeze. • Your monthly automatic deduction will be suspended for the chosen time period. The regular draft amount automatically resumes when the freeze period is over. • Members who have paid in full for the year will have their memberships extended for the time of their absence. • For medical freezes, please see a Member Services Representative. • Locker rental fees may not be frozen.
• Daily Guest Passes may be purchased at the fee of: Adults (over 18): $25.00; Youth (under age 18): $5.00 • We reserve the right to limit guests during peak hours to avoid facility overcrowding. • You must be 18 years old or older to purchase a daily guest pass. • All guests pass purchases must be made during Member Services Desk hours only. • Non-members are limited to 3 (free or paid) visits per calendar year. • Members may purchase additional daily guest pass for their adult guests at the modest rate of $10. • Member must accompany guest and Photo ID Policy applies. • Youth & Teen members cannot bring guests without an adult chaperone who must also purchase a $25 day pass (if a non member) and will remain in the facility for the duration of their stay. • Citywide Membership complimentary guest passes are issued at the Home Branch only. • Adults may bring only three children in as guests per visit. Adults who are not members must also purchase a day pass for $25. • Youth and Teen members are not issued complimentary guest passes as part of their membership. • Complimentary Guest Passes can not be used for admittance by a Youth or Teen. • The Dodge YMCA reserves the right to change the Guest Pass policy without notice. Effective August 15, 2009 • All Non-Members must purchase an Adult Day Pass in the amount of $25.00 when purchasing a Guest Pass for a Youth or a Teen.
General Membership Information Membership ID Cards • All members must show and swipe their ID cards at the Member Services Desk when entering the facility. • Members must carry ID card at all times while in the facility. • Valid membership cards must be presented when registering for programs.

After three (3) occurances, access will not be granted to the facility. • Lost membership cards must be reported to the Member Services Desk. Replacement cards are $10 per card.
• Teens 12 - 17 must have a signed parental consent form on file and attend a Youth Fitness Orientation session with a YMCA trainer prior to using the equipment. (Sign up at the Member Services Desk.) Appointment Required. • Teens must abide by all rules of the respective program areas. Family Policy • Family memberships are for two adults living in the same household with children under the age of 18. • Birth certificates and proof of residence maybe required for family membership. • Please notify the Member Service Desk if you have moved, changed your name or welcomed a new addition to your family.
Orientation Signing up for a free orientation within your first 30 days of membership is an easy first step. A trained YMCA fitness professional will instruct you to properly and safely use the cardio and strength equipment, answer questions and recommend appropriate exercise programs to meet you fitness goals. We want you to get the most out of your YMCA membership and our staff is always available to help out and give advice. To ensure that everyone has an enjoyable experience at the YMCA we ask that all of our members and program participants adhere to the following: Fitness Attire • Proper fitness attire must be worn at all times when using the facility. Jeans may not be worn while using fitness equipment.

Locker Rooms & Lockers • Complimentary security boxes are available across from the Front Check-In Desk for storage of smaller valuables. • Invest in a strong lock and always secure your belongings. • Lost lock box keys must be reported to the Member Services Desk. • Individuals will be charged a $10 replacement fee for lost keys. • The Men’s and Women’s Locker rooms are located on the second floor of the facility. • The Family locker room is located off the pool deck and is wheelchair accessible. • The Family Changing Room is located on the second floor next to the Men’s Locker room. • The Family Changing Room and Family Locker rooms may be used by parents with children of the opposite sex over the age of five (5). Family Changing Room is for children that need to change but do not need shower facilities. • The Family Locker room (Special Needs changing room) has been designed for people that need assistance in becoming pool or floor exercise-ready
(i.e., parents with children of opposite sex over the age of five or people with disabilities). • All children over the age of five must use the appropriate sex locker room with a parent. • Adult members are asked to be considerate in their language and dress. • All lockers are available for daily use only. You must supply your own lock. • Locks left overnight on the lockers will be clipped. Items will be held for 15 days, then discarded. • The Dodge YMCA and The YMCA of Greater New York are not responsible for lost or stolen personal belongings. • If a parent wishes to take their child of the same sex into the locker room, they may do so while supervising the child at all times. • Individual adults cannot use the Family locker or changing rooms. Kit Locker Service • Kit Lockers are available for rent for a nominal monthly fee of $10.00. Please see the Member Services Desk for details. • Kit Locker monthly fees may not be frozen. • Kit Lockers must be renewed annually. Towel Service • For your convenience the Dodge YMCA provides complimentary towel service included with your membership. • Please return towels to appropriate areas. Sauna & Steam Rooms Regulations • No one under 18 years of age is permitted in the sauna or steam room. •No food or beverages are allowed in the sauna or steam room. • Please do not place any items, oils or liquids on the heating element. • Please do not hang swim suit in the sauna or steam room.
• In consideration of other members, please do not use fragrant oils or lotions before entering sauna or steam rooms. • Please use quiet voices when in the sauna or steam room so not to disturb you fellow members. Stroller Policy • For the safety of our participants, strollers are not permitted in the facility past the Member Check In Desk. • Upon entering the facility, please fold and store your stroller against the red tiled wall labeled Stroller Park. • Due to limited space, please use smaller strollers when possible. Cell Phones & Camera Phones • Cell phones, camera phones and PDAs are not permitted in program areas (Healthy Lifestyles area, pool, aerobics studio and gymnasium). • Out of consideration for other members, please silence all cell phones and beepers upon entering the building. • Areas designated for cell phone / PDA use include the lobby and unoccupied classrooms. • Many cellular phones are now equipped with cameras. Because of the possible use of these cameras, cell phones may not be used in the Dodge YMCA locker rooms.
POLICY & REGULATIONS
Youth and Teen Policy • Children 11 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times when using the Dodge YMCA facility. Parents/Guardians may not leave the facility while children are in class • Children 11 and under may not use fitness equipment unless accompanied/supervised by an adult. • Teens, ages 12 and up, may use program areas (gymnasium and pool) unaccompanied by an adult: Monday - Friday 3:00 pm - 7:30 pm; Saturday - Sunday - 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Board of Education Holidays - 12:30 pm - 7:30 pm
• Sneakers must always be worn when using fitness equipment, or utilizing the gymnasium. • Gym bags, pocketbooks, coats, etc. are not allowed in fitness areas. • Rubber soled shoes must be worn in the gym at all times. You may not wear boots, heels or go barefoot at any time.
Photography Policy • Photography is not allowed in the YMCA without the written permission of the Executive Director, Elizabeth Toledo. Please contact Ms. Toledo at 718-625-3136, ext. 2410 or etoledo@ymcanyc.org for more information. Pets & Bicycles Policy • Service animals are the only animals allowed in the facility. We ask that they be properly harnessed. • We regret that we can not accommodate pets or bicycles in the facilities. Please make appropriate arrangements. Lost & Found Policy Lost and found items which are returned are placed at the Membership Services Desk. Items are logged and secured. Items that are not reclaimed in (30) days are discarded.

Membership + Facility Info Gymnasium Regulations
LL MEMBERS AND PROGRAM A PARTICIPANTS ARE EXPECTED TO FOLLOW THE YMCA CODE OF CONDUCT.
Child Watch Policy • The amount of time that children can stay in the Child Watch program is a minimum of one hour and a maximum of two hours per visit. • Parents must remain in the building and alert the child watch staff as to what activity they will be participating in or where they will be in the facility. • Child watch staff cannot change diapers or unclothe your child to use the bathroom. • Please be sure your child is fed before arrival. You may leave your child with a light snack. Peanuts are not permitted in Child Watch room • Sick children will not be permitted in the Child Watch program. • Only ten children will be permitted in the Child Watch room at one time. • No child will be permitted without first being registered at the Member Services Desk. • Please register 24-48 hours in advance. • For security purposes, we request that the parent/ guardian who drops off the child also pick him/her up.
Youth Health & Wellness Class Policy • Classes must be purchased prior to attending. • Proper attire is mandatory: sneakers and athletic apparel. • There are NO food or drinks allowed in the gymnasium at any time, except for water. • There are no make up classes. • Refund/Credit Policy: 75% after the first class, 50% up to the 2nd week of program. After the second week there will be no refunds/credits issued. Program Changes Policy The Dodge YMCA reserves the right to change programs (i.e., instructor, class type, times, days, fees, etc.) as needed. The YMCA reserves the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment. Every attempt will be made to reach those registered to inform them of the cancellation. Cancelled classes will be issued a refund or credit as deemed appropriate. All credits will be good for one year only and must be mentioned when applying to any service at the YMCA. Branch Transfers Within the YMCA of Greater New York, you may transfer without paying a new initiation fee. You must contact the first floor Customer Service Center and request a cancellation and transfer. We will issue a credit for any unused portion of your membership. Then, you must contact the new branch and complete their membership application paperwork. The new branch will contact Dodge YMCA to request a change in the “home branch” by fax or e-mail. We will then confirm that the change has been made. Policies may differ for other YMCAs outside of our association. Swimming Pool Regulations Lap swimming, Family Swim and recreational swimming are available during most hours of operation. Please refer to the pool schedule located at the Member Services Desk for additional information. • Members and facility users are required to follow posted signs and lifeguard directions. • Bathing caps must be worn while in the pool. • Members must shower before entering the pool. • No one may enter the pool with shoes from the street or sneakers from the gym. • Please do not feed children one hour prior to their entering this pool. This helps reduce vomiting once they enter the pool. • Running, jumping, skipping, pushing or any kind of horseplay will not be allowed. • Diving is not permitted. • Individuals with infections, open sores or cuts, and/or ear/ nose discharges will not be allowed to enter the pool. • Members must strictly observe the pool schedule located at the Member Services Desk. • No one may enter the pool area without an authorized and certified YMCA Lifeguard on duty. • Children 8 years and under must be within arms reach of an adult (18 & over) in the water. • Children 9-11 years must have an adult on the pool deck or viewing area. • If child needs the assistance of a bubble, a parent / guardian must be in the water with him/her. • Styrofoam bubbles can only be used under the supervision of an adult. No inflatable floatation devices are allowed. • No equipment, either YMCA-owned or personal, including masks, fins and snorkels may be used other than for instructional purposes or with special permission of the lifeguard. • No gym shorts, cutoffs or other converted street clothing may be worn as bathing suits. • All swimmers must enter and leave through lockers and shower room entrances, not through the Emergency Door. • Band-Aids, bandages, metal hair clips and hairpins must be removed before entering the pool. • Children - swim diaper with plastic elastic around leg is required. • Please do not communicate with lifeguards unless it is an emergency. • Spitting in pool or pool gutters is not allowed. • Food, gum and beverages are not allowed in the pool
area. Glass bottles are strictly prohibited. • Kickboards & noodles cannot be used during Family Swim. Use of beach ball, toys, etc. will be at lifeguard’s discretion.
Lap Swim Etiquette Lap swim should be orderly and continuous. In order to receive full benefit and enjoyment from lap swim, it is important that all participants respect other swimmers and abide by the following rules: • Lanes are divided into four (4) speeds: slow, medium, medium fast and fast. • Choose a lane to match your skill - If you don’t know, ask the lifeguard for assistance. • Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of all swimmers, and may ask swimmers to change lanes. • Maximum 5 swimmers per lane. • One or two swimmers may split the lane; three or more swimmers must move in counterclockwise circles, • Swim in a circle keeping to the right. Pass ONLY on the left. • Slower swimmers should swim close to the right lane line. • If others are waiting, please limit your time to 30 minutes. • If a lane is empty, a swimmer may stretch or exercise. • Kickboards and pull buoys are available for use (please replace after use). • When passing an overtaking swimmer should gently but distinctly touch the feet of the swimmer being overtaken. It may take two or three touches, but overtaking swimmers should not need to repeatedly slap or grab at the legs of a slower swimmer to politely make their presence known. • Swimmers enjoying a draft behind a strong lead swimmer, but who are just barely able to hold that pace should think twice before tagging the

• Members/Program participants must wear sneakers during all gymnasium activities. (No flip-flops, heels or boots) • Proper gymnasium attire is required to participate. (No jeans, workpants, etc.) • DODGE YMCA equipment, including balls, pumps, etc., may not leave the gymnasium. • All equipment must be signed out at the membership desk!!! You will need your Membership ID card. • Members are responsible for returning the equipment they borrowed. • No spitting, gum chewing, eating, or drinking is allowed in the gymnasium. • Children ages 11 (eleven) and under must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times. • Youth (13 year olds and up) may use the gymnasium any time the schedule says Teen Basketball or Volleyball. • During Family Time scheduled hours, children must be accompanied by a parent in order to be in the gymnasium. • No foul language can be used in the entire facility. • The gymnasium should not be used as a changing facility. • All personal belongings should be placed in lockers. (ex. bags, jackets, towels, keys, phones,etc.) • Absolutely no verbal or physical fighting is permitted in the gymnasium. Minimum result will be loss of membership without refund.
Aquatics Class Policy • New participants should be evaluated for appropriate level placement prior to registration. • Classes must be purchased prior to attending. • Show up on time for class ready for class. • All participants must take a shower prior to entering the pool. • Proper attire must be worn: swimming suit & swimming cap for ALL PARTICIPANTS, parent and child. • There are NO Sneakers or Shoes allowed on the pool deck. • There are no Make-Up classes. • Classes are pro-rated for holidays. • Refund/Credit Policy: 75% after the first class, 50% up to the 2nd program week. After the second week there will be no refund/credits issued.

In such situations, it’s highly unlikely that the (formerly) trailing swimmer will be able to hold the same pace for very long when leading without the draft. This can lead to repeated “leap-frogging” and unnecessary contact, which can be annoying and disruptive for everyone in the lane. • Drafting swimmers not wishing to pass should swim far enough back from a lead swimmer that they don’t inadvertently touch the lead swimmer’s toes. • Overtaking swimmers should not attempt to swim ‘wide’ past a slower swimmer – unless they are the only two swimmers in the lane – since in most cases this presents a hazard to other oncoming swimmer(s), forcing them to pull over to get out of the way. • In the rare case that a passing swimmer does swim wide, she/he should be confident in his/ her ability to sprint into the field of vision of the lead swimmer well before she/he gets to the wall. Otherwise, this sets up for a collision at the wall as both swimmers attempt to turn on top of one another. In the case of any ambiguity at the wall, the swimmer whose head is behind should give way to the swimmer whose head is in front. • In the equally rare case that a strong swimmer finds him or her self at the back of a line of several slower swimmers in circle format, it is acceptable (after looking carefully) to move to the other side of the lane mid-length and proceed in the opposite direction, somewhat ahead of the line she/he had been trailing. This should only be done in cases where the lane is relatively crowded, where there are no other lanes moving at a more suitable pace, and where the process of tapping several swimmers in succession would be overly disruptive. • When being passed, a lead swimmer who feels a touch on the feet from an overtaking swimmer should continue to the next wall, then stop in the corner of the lane to let faster swimmers past. A single light touch may be accidental and can be ignored, but two or more distinct touches should be regarded almost universally as a request to swim through. • A swimmer who has been touched on the feet should move to a corner of the lane as soon as they
get to the next wall in order to make way for passing swimmers turning there. It’s best if the touched/ stopping swimmer moves immediately to the far left corner (from the perspective of an approaching swimmer), which would be the far right corner (from their own perspective looking back up the pool). This routine applies as well to swimmers stopping of their own accord, (i.e., even if they haven’t been tagged on the toes), since another swimmer who hasn’t seen fit to touch toes may be right behind. • A lead swimmer who sees another swimmer coming up close behind as she/he turns at the wall should consider stopping and moving over immediately at that wall in order to let the faster swimmer past - rather than blocking that swimmer for an entire length to the next wall, creating a situation where toe-touching becomes necessary. • Swimmers being overtaken should never stop in the middle of the pool, nor should they continue beyond the next wall (e.g. back to the shallow end) after being ‘tagged’ on the feet. Instead, they should stop at the next wall, at the corner of the lane. • Swimmers being overtaken should not attempt to speed up (or slow down) once ‘tagged’, nor should they jump in and ‘tag back’ the new lead swimmer on the next lap. • If two or more swimmers are closely matched in pace they should either position themselves at opposite ends of a lane (endless pursuit) or agree on how to share the lead. • NO swimmers should wear watches or protruding jewelry. These items can easily scratch other swimmers in a busy pool. • Carefully check for the position and speed of other swimmers before diving or jumping into a lane, or entering a lane from the side (i.e. under water). At many pools, diving is absolutely prohibited, as is any crossing of active lap lanes for any reason. • Don’t ‘water-run’ or ‘aqua-jog’ in lap lanes – unless the lane is nearly empty. • A swimmer entering a lane being ‘split’ by two people (each swimming up/back on their own side) should be sure before she/he begins to swim that she/he alerts both individuals to the need to change to a ‘circle’ format (everyone swimming counterclockwise* on the right side of the lane). This is most commonly done by sitting at/on the edge of the pool, waving a kickboard under water, or standing in the water in the corner of the lane.

Registration For Program Session Our swimming, wellness and sports classes are scheduled in eight-week sessions. Registration is on first-come-first serve basis. YMCA members enjoy the privilege of early registration (2 weeks before the session starts). Payment is due at time of registration. Please stop be the Member Services Desk for detailed guidelines. Group Exercise classes, which are included with your membership are conducted on a drop-in basis. No registration is required and schedules are subject to change without notice.
