Ebonie Smith is a singer-songwriter/music producer and creative entrepreneur based in New York City. She has performed at a number of NYC's premiere venues including: SOB's, Webster Hall, and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. She has also performed abroad à Le Centre Culturel Francais in Cameroon, West Africa. A skilled beat-maker, Ebonie has crafted songs for artists based all over the world, most notably Israel's African Hebrew Israelites of Jerusalem. She has also worked alongside soul legend Nona Hendryx of Labelle to coordinate Unfiltered Music, an arts collective for independent musicians. Ebonie has taught music production at the 92nd Street Y, and recently Ebonie has worked at Harlem Children’s Zone as a program coordinator where she developed the Lyrics Lounge program for High Schoolers interested in the music industry. Erin Zelley is originally from the Philadelphia area and studied painting at Maryland Institute College of Art. She received her Masters of Fine Arts degree from Brooklyn College and currently lives and works in Brooklyn as a Teaching Artist. Erin is currently making and exhibiting artwork as well as teaching for Wingspan Arts, the New American Academy, and the YMCA. Laura Kulaw holds a BS in Physical Education and an M.Ed in Health education She is a certified Youth Fitness Specialist and has coached flag football, soccer, basketball and tennis. She has taught PE in the public school system here in NYC and in Massachusetts. Laura's passion for sports started early and has continued throughout her life. Laura’s philosophy is one that incorporates high energy, enthusiasm and fun as well as being inclusive to all participants. She currently plays women's professional full contact tackle football. Laura thoroughly enjoys working with kids of all ages and her energy and enthusiasm are contagious. Michael Littner has been a student of Seido Karate since he was 5 years old, and is currently a second-degree black-belt (Nidan). He currently teaches youth Seido karate classes (ages 3-12) on Mondays and Wednesdays at the West-Side YMCA with his instructor and mentor, Junshihan (juniormaster) Melvin Ramsey. Michael's youth teaching experience is extensive, having worked with special needs children for the Board of Education and as a private Squash instructor with children ages 7-16. Michael's long-standing relationship with the YMCA is notable, having had his first Seido karate class at the West-Side YMCA, where he currently teaches, nearly 27 years ago. Juan Andrade, Director of Tennis Innovators, brings a wealth of coaching experience from his extensive background coordinating and developing for Sportime Tennis Clubs in Westchester, Long Island and NYC. Juan served as a Pro at the Central Park Tennis Center during the summer season connecting with NYC players. He brings an impressive background as a player and coach, highlighted by his participation in the NCAA and creating new programs to grow the sport of tennis. Juan has a unique, dynamic teaching style that appeals to both kids and adults. His primary focus is to deliver an energetic lesson with fun and high quality instruction to keep players motivated. Juan is excited to bring his experience to the YMCA to build a strong tennis program for all players.

GROSVENOR HOUSE YMCA AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT SCHEDULE

Sydnie L. Mosley is a New York City-based dancer, choreographer and teaching artist. She earned her MFA in Dance with an emphasis on Choreography from the University of Iowa (2009). She is also an alumna of Barnard College at Columbia University (2007), where she earned her BA in Dance and Africana Studies. She is currently an Alumnae Fellow with the Barnard Center for Research on Women, a position that allows her to deepen her artistic work with the resources of the academy. She presents her choreography with her Harlem-based company Sydnie L. Mosley Dances with works that seek to actively engage the audience’s physical and emotional senses with dance performance in addition to involving audiences in the artistic process. Her work has notably been presented in the Chen Dance Center newsteps program for emerging artists, the FIGMENT Festival on Governor’s Island, RoofTop Dance in Bushwick, Brooklyn, as a part of the New York Foundation for the Arts Boot Camp Arts Festival at Surreal Estate, the Harlem Arts Alliance Artz, Rootz & Rhythm Festival, and at The Schermerhorn Theater.

BUILDING THE FUTURE TOGETHER ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS AT THE GROSVENOR NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE Y


Grosvenor House YMCA is launching NEW enrichment classes! Enrichment classes are available 6 days a week. On Monday-Friday, classes from 3-6 pm allow families flexibility to tailor their child’s after school activities according to their interests. Children are welcome to sign up for as many classes as they like, whether it be one class or 10 classes! Saturday classes run from 9AM-2PM. All classes run on 8 week long sessions. Enrichment classes run from 4-5PM and 5-6PM with the daily “Club House” option that runs from 3-4PM. The Club House time allows for children to arrive right after school, and during this time children will be have time to eat a snack, play recreational games, and unwind after the school day. The Club House fee will be waived for any child who attends 2 classes a day four or five days a week. Children should bring their own healthy snack. Pick up services are also available free of cost to children who attend 2 classes a day four or five days a week. Pick up is available from PS 75, 163, 145, 165 and Ascension School.

INTRO TO ACTING Acting gives children the opportunity to learn about focus, listening skills, and to develop self confidence through performance based activities. In this class, children will learn basic performance techniques, stage directions, improv skills, and play making. Fee: $125 Wednesdays 5-6PM K-2nd Grade 4-5PM 3rd-5th Grade JEWELRY MAKING Create wearable art during this jewelery making class. Kids will design and assemble their own necklaces, bracelets and more with a number of types of beads and baubles. Participants will also learn to make their own beads to use in their masterpieces! Fee $105 Tuesdays 4-5PM 3rd-5th Grade 5-6PM K-2nd Grade VISUAL ART Participants will have the opportunity to explore multiple mediums including paint, pastel, mixed media, and clay. Activities in this class are designed to help children develop creativity, inspire individuality, and build self esteem. Visual art activities help kids develop fine motor skills and visual vocabulary. Fee $125 Fridays 4-5PM 3rd-5th Grade Saturdays 10-11AM Ages 5-7 11AM-12PM Ages 8-11 BALLET Through this class students will develop coordination and listening skills while learning the basics of ballet. JAZZ/HIP HOP Open to both beginner and intermediate dancers, this class will focus on rhythm and choreography of hip hop and jazz style dance. Fee: $105 Mondays 4-5PM K-2nd Grade 5-6PM 3rd-5th Grade Saturdays 11AM-12PM K-2nd Grade 12-1PM 3rd-5th Grade

MULTI SPORT Children will develop skills, self-confidence, and teamwork in a non-competitive environment. Offering positive reinforcement and a low child-to-coach ratio to ensure that each child will improve his or her skills through engaging warm-up, activities, and games in basketball, soccer, floor hockey, and recreational games. Children also learn basic principles of healthy living through fitness and nutrition eduction. Fee: $105 Thursdays 5-6PM 3rd-5th Grade

KARATE Students learn self-defense and develop balance, fitness, coordination, self-confidence and discipline through practice of basic techniques and forms. Fee: $125 Fridays 4-5PM K-2nd Grade 5-6PM 3rd-5th Grade Saturdays 9-10AM Ages 5-8

MUSIC MAKING AND SONGWRITING Children work with the instructor to learn about rhythm, melody, and beat. Participants then work both individually and separately on creating their own songs and lyrics! No prior musical experience necessary. Fee: $105 Thursdays 4-5PM 2nd-5th Grade 5-6PM K-2nd Grade

SOCCER FUNDAMENTALS Learn indoor soccer skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting through fun games, drills, and scrimmages. Fee: $105 Tuesdays 4-5PM K-2nd Grade 5-6PM 3rd-5th Grade Saturdays 1-2PM Ages 5-7

LET’S GET COOKING! In this delicious class, future chefs will work together to create healthy snacks, desserts, and light meals. They will then get to taste the results of their efforts. Finally, they will create a cookbook so they can share their creations with their families at home. YUM! Fee: $105 Thursdays 4-5PM K-3rd Grade

QUICKSTART TENNIS The QuickStart Tennis format takes a new approach introducing children to the game. Balls are colorful, lighter and low compression, helping children track and hit balls while developing optimal swing patterns. Racquets are appropriately sized for all ages and tennis courts are miniaturized to allow for better court coverage. Our curriculum is designed to encourage play, develop hand-eye coordination and create a fun interactive experience. Fee: $240 Mondays 5-6PM K-2nd Grade 4-5PM 3rd-5th Grade Saturdays 9-10AM Ages 3-7 10-11AM Ages 8-11 HOMEWORK HELP Children will have a quiet space to complete their homework with the help of our qualified staff. BASKETBALL Our basketball class combines skills development with strength, speed, and agility training, as well as the teaching of basketball concepts regarding decision making, communication, and leadership. The program is open to boys and girls of all ages and skill levels, and we have a lot of fun. Fee: $125 Wednesdays 4-5PM K-2nd Grade 5-6PM 3rd-6th Grade CRAZY COLLAGE Mix art and imagination in this fun class where participants make mixed medium collages out of all sorts of materials! Students will create both two and three dimensional collages and sculptures using everything from ripped paper, to photographs to recycled materials. Fee: $105 Fridays 5-6PM K-2nd Grade

BABY AND ME EXERCISE CLASS | 10 - 18 mos. Babies have fun learning about their bodies in space during this exercise class. Children with their caregivers at their developmental level to enjoy movement activities that build their core strength and prepare them for their next milestones. Music and movement experiences by our dance specialist enhance children’s enjoyment of movement while gaining strength and expertise. Tuesdays 9:30-10:15AM $125 for 8 week session BUSY BODIES FOR 2'S | 15 mos. - 2.5 yrs. This is a child’s first gym class. It emphasizes large motor skills development, group play, mastering the external environment and creative movement. After warming up the body with music, children burn off energy with movement games, and play with various props and equipment under adult supervision. The instructor works to improve each child’s strength, flexibility, balance and coordination. Class time ends with a cool down and stretching. Children who require adult guidance will need the accompanying adult to participate with them. Saturdays 10:15AM-11AM Thursdays 9:30-10:15AM $125 for 8 week session THE MUSIC GARDEN FOR BABIES | Infants up to 12 mos. Bring your child to The Music Garden, a magical place where giant Itsy Bitsy spiders bounce, alphabets sing and The Hungry Caterpillar eats all. The Music Garden will engage and entertain your infant through singing, dancing, puppets and recycled percussion. A perfect place for your child to get to know all-time favorite stories, with live accordion, flute, original compositions and well-known songs from around the world. Mondays 9:30-10:15AM THE MUSIC GARDEN FOR TODDLERS AND 2'S | 12 mos. - 2.5 yrs. Bring your child to The Music Garden, a magical place where giant Itsy Bitsy spiders bounce, alphabets sing and The Hungry Caterpillar eats all. The Music Garden is a fun learning environment where your child can develop their musicality and experience the joy of moving with live accordion, flute, recycled percussion and puppets. Musical renditions of wellknown children's stories will further develop literacy, with activities that help build social skills. Featuring original music compositions and old favorites from around the world. Mondays 10:15 - 11AM MUSIC AND MOVEMENT | 12 mos. – 2.5 yrs. This class introduces music, singing and some creative drama to young minds. Through creative exploration using actual instruments and their voices, young people will begin to gain a deeper understanding of music in this energetic class. Children participate with their accompanying adult. Wednesdays 9:30-10:15AM $125 for 8 week session

We will also be offering a family fun activity in a nearby park, followed by hot chocolate at Grosvenor to warm everyone up.
