LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Dear Members and Community Friends, The YMCAis a community service organization which promotes positive values through programs that build spirit, mind, and body welcoming all people with a focus on youth. as the place to get your mind, body and spirit in shape. Youth have joined a worldwide organization who puts families and youth first and builds communities one person at a time. When you join our many group fitness classes, from yoga to Zumba or take a few laps around the track or in our swimming pool, or bring your children to youth sports, summer camp or teen activities, you extend the Y’s mission and become a part of something great! Youth and teens flourish and grow in our many sports, fitness and leadership development programs –all designed to create responsibility and accountability not only to themselves but to their schools, religious insitutions and the greater community. Our programs are offered in a bully free zone where respect and honesty are valued and fostered. Our YMCA is for youth development, healthy lifestyles and social responsibility. Our ability to bring many if not all of our programs to you for free or at a reduced fee is due largely to the financial support of you and the many friends we have in the community. To those of you who continue to support the programs we offer, please accept my continued and deepest thanks. ABOUT THE NORTH BROOKLYN YMCA The North Brooklyn YMCA

Membership at the North Brooklyn YMCA entitles you to a wide variety of Health & Wellness options. In addition to a full range of classes and user-friendly equipment, we also have an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, indoor track and other facilities. You’ll find a state-of-the-art fitness center, which provides a range of resistance and cardio vascular machines, as well as plate-load and free weights. If one or more pieces of equipment are not familiar to you, please stop by our Member Services Desk to schedule an appointment with one of our trainers. We have wide range of programs and activities that enrich the entire family, from infants to seniors.

Indoor Track: The Indoor Track is a 32-lap-to-the-mile loop that encircles and overlooks the gymnasium

Family Programs CHILD WATCH

FAMILY RECREATIONAL SWIM Supervised recreational swim for families promises a terrific time. A YMCA adult member must accompany children. Swim caps are required at all times. Children 8 years and under must be within arm’s reach of an adult (18 & over)in the water. Monday,Wednesday, Friday 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday & Thursday 7 pm - 8 pm Saturday 3:30 pm - 5:15 pm Sunday 3 pm - 5 pm

FAMILY FITNESS CLASSES Famly Fun - Classes are designed for your whole family to enjoy. Bring the kids exercise together and participate in an obstacle course. Monday-Friday: 5 pm - 6:00 pm Family Yoga – This class will aid in the development of you and your child’s posture, motor coordination and self-confidence. Children and parent will have fun together. Saturday: 11 am – 12 pm

GAME ROOM Table Tennis, Air Hockey, Foosball, Board and Card Games. Children ages 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Need someone to watch your child while you work out? Your child will enjoy creative play, painting, music, and other fun activities in a safe environment with certified North Brooklyn YMCA child care staff. Pre-registration is required. NOTE: Available to members only: Ages: 6 months - 7 years Tuesday & Thursday 10 am - 12 pm Monday thru Friday 6 pm - 9 pm Saturday 9 am - 2 pm * Pre-registration is required 1 hour in advance. A maximum stay of 2 hours is allowed per session. * Child Watch registration is on a first come, first serve basis. * Enrollment is limited to 12 children at a time. * Child Watch staff cannot change diapers or unclothe your child to use the bathroom. * Parents/caregivers must remain in the building and alert Child Watch staff as to where they will be (pool, gym, etc.). * Sick children cannot be placed in Child Watch. * Parents, nannies and other caregivers will not be allowed to remain in the Child Watch room apart from normal pick-up and drop-off; all adults in the room must be trained and background checked for the safety of the children we watch. FAMILY EVENTS The family is the most important source of a child’s values and self-esteem. At the North Brooklyn YMCA we encourage young people to practice the positive values that they learn at home. By doing this, we build a better future for our participants and for the community. We run a wide variety of free programs and community events for youth and families, including heath and wellness events, festivals, holiday celebrations and outings. Each month throughout the year we offer events geared at bringing youth and family together. For more information contact the Member Welcome Center.

Come join us for a night at the movies with your family. No long lines, just a good time with family and friends. This is a monthly activity so come join us on the last Friday of every month. Popcorn and beverages will be served. FREE Friday’s 6:30 - 8:30 pm September 30, 2011 December 16, 2011

Family Programs Kids Night Out Parents need some time to do your own thing?-Go out to dinner, shopping, movies, laundry. For a small fee your children can hang out at the YMCA for 2 1/2 hours in the evening participating in computer fun, gym games and so much more. COMPUTER LAB Our internet ready computer center is available for all members and guest to enjoy complimentary! Our instructor will have fun and exciting programs & trivia designed to improve your child’s computer and academic skills. Monday – Friday 10 am - 12 noon, 3 pm - 9 pm Saturday & Sunday 10 am - 2 pm

Family Night Family Night is the perfect opportunity for parents and children to share quality time together! This program extends our commitment to your family and emphasizes the importance of families to the YMCA. Join us for an evening of fun and exciting activities. • Everyone must sign in with the instructor before use of a computer will be granted. Please sign out at the end of your stay. • A membership ID must be presented for use of headphones. There is a 15-minute time limit when others are waiting. • To prevent potential computer viruses, no music, videos, art, software or other forms of graphics may be downloaded. Food, drinks and cell phone, are prohibited in the center. • No inappropriate websites should be viewed. • Printing is limited to two (2) pages per person. There is $.10 charge for each additional page. • An adult must sign in for all youth 11 years old & under.

Early Childhood Programs EARLY CHILDHOOD AQUATICS PROGRAM Introduce your child to the fun of water sports in our warm water pool. At this age, the primary goal is to welcome children to the water and encourage them to be comfortable and have fun with their instructors and with other children. Children under 3 years old are taught with a guardian in the water. No swimming skills are required. NOTE: Classes not meeting the minimum number of participants will be cancelled or combined with another class similar in skills

PARENT-CHILD PROGRAM This class is for children ages 6 to 36 months and their parents. The primary objective is to get both the parent and child comfortable in the water. The child will become aware of the differences between moving through water and on dry land, while parents become aware of how to teach his or child to be safer in and around water. Classes are designed to allow the child to have fun in the water while the parent guides him or her to learn aquatic skills. For ages: 6 months – 3 yrs NOTE: Parents and/or guardians, please consult your Pediatrician prior to taking these classes.

Ray/Starfish An advanced swim instruction class. We work with your child on more advanced skills, including swimming without assistance or floatation, swimming underwater, learn to tread water and more. Ages 6-12

YOUTH AQUATICS PROGRAM

Advanced Polliwog

There is a reason why the YMCA is referred to as America’s Favorite Swim Instructor. In Y classes, not only are youth taught in a caring way how to swim, but they also learn self accomplishment, safety and rescue skills, and about water activities they can enjoy for a lifetime.

For children who have completed all Polliwog skills. This class teaches rotary breathing, front crawl, and back swimming skills. Saturday or Sunday: 12:50 pm - 1:35 pm Monday or Wednesday: 5:30 pm - 6:15 pm Saturday: 12 pm - 12:45 pm

A variety of class times and types are available to meet your family needs. Class size is determined by considering safety factors and participants’ ages, making sure classes are comfortable.

Guppy

SWIM INSTRUCTION This program comprises of five main components: personal growth, personal safety, stroke development, water sports, games and rescue. Each skill level builds upon the preceding level, with seven levels covering all of the strokes, diving fundamentals, and safety skills. Private swim instruction is also available for youth looking to gain additional practice and skills on a one to one basis. Classes not meeting the minimum number of participants will be cancelled or combined with another class similar in skills. (Schedule is subject to change) For ages: 6yrs-12yrs Members: $ 72 Program Members: $120 Beginner Polliwog A beginning level class for school age children. Safety, entering the pool, kicking, floating and the beginner’s stroke are taught. Saturday or Sunday: 12:50 pm - 1:35 pm Monday or Wednesday: 4:30 pm - 5:15 pm Friday: 4 pm - 4:45 pm Friday: 5 pm - 5:45 pm Saturday or Sunday: 12 pm - 12:45 pm

Children continue to practice and build upon basic skills, performing more skills without the aid of a floatation device. They are also introduced to leadup strokes to the front and back crawl, sidestroke, breaststroke. Children can swim a length of the pool without assistance and the end of this level. Minnow For children who have completed Guppy. The class refines front and back crawl skills, builds endurance, and teaches elementary backstroke. Saturday or Sunday: 1:40 pm - 2:25 pm Tuesday: 5:00 pm - 5:45 pm Wednesday: 5:30 pm - 6:15 pm

Fish For children who have completed Minnow. All previous strokes are refined, and breaststroke is introduced. Wednesday: 4:30 pm – 5:15 pm Friday: 5:45 pm – 6:25 pm Saturday: 2:30 pm – 3:15 pm

Flying Fish For children who have completed Fish. The class continues improving all previous strokes, and introduces the butterfly. Saturday: 2:30 pm – 3:15 pm Friday: 5:45 pm – 6:30 pm

Youth Programs Shark For children who have completed Flying Fish. All strokes are perfected, and more endurance is built. This class also allows children to improve on flip turns and open turns. Saturday: 2:30 pm - 3:15 pm Friday: 5:45 pm - 6:30 pm

Porpoise Club The most advanced level of swim lessons. This level is for strong swimmers who can do strokes, are mature enough to handle extended swim workouts and responsible. Students can begin preparations for swim teams and/or lifeguarding course. Saturday or Sunday: 1:40 pm - 2:25 pm

HOLIDAY CAMP

Karate

When public schools are closed, your children can come to North Brooklyn YMCA Holiday Camp. Children ages 5-13 participate in activities such as arts and crafts, sports, swimming, trips and special events. Holiday Camp program hours are 8:00 am6:00 pm. Parents must provide a bag lunch; the YMCA provides a snack. Parents must provide swim suit, cap and towel on designated swim activity days. North Brooklyn YMCA follows the Department of Education‘s school calendar. Holiday Camp will not be offered if there is insufficient registration. Pre registration is required and is taken on a first come first served basis. Payment must be made in full prior to the start of camp.

The youth karate program follows the system of Shorinjiryu Kenryukan Karate, which emphasizes the building of spirit, mind and body. Participants learn how to defend themselves in a safe and friendly environment. Ages: 5 to adult Location: Multipurpose Studio Saturday: 12:30 pm - 2 pm Members: $70 Program Members: $120

Y AFTER SCHOOL Y After School is a free after-school program that promotes social and emotional learning and academic support with a focus on youth. This program was designed to support but not replicate what happens during the school day.

YMCA Healthy Kids The YMCA’s Healthy Kids program is a fun, interactive, educative physical activity based program for children. The Healthy Kids program aims to give children healthy lifestyle knowledge, laying the foundations for lifelong health and activity. The program has a comprehensive suite of noncompetitive minor games and sport and recreational activities that promote decisionmaking, communication, self-esteem, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. Tuesday & Thursdays: 6 pm - 7 pm Members: Free Program Members: $85

Boot Camp

The program is offered at P.S. 75, 95 Grove Street and P.S.158 400 Ashford Street only.

A fun class that will improve kids’ cardiovascular endurance and strength. This workout incorporates obstacle courses & circuit training, along with fitness games and activities Ages: 6 - 12 Location: Gymnasium Wednesday: 6 pm - 6:45 pm Members: Free Program Members: $85

Youth Basketball Lessons

Youth Sports

The curriculum consists of a variety of academic, recreational and values-based hands-on activities that focus on literacy, reading, writing, and speaking. Registration is limited to students enrolled at schools where the program takes place.

Y.B.L. is a co-ed, non competitive basketball program that teaches the fundamentals of the game, with emphasis on personal growth, values, discussions and family involvement. Ages: 6-12 Saturday: 12 pm - 1 pm Members: $70 Program Members: $120

This class is full of fun. Kids will learn sports skills as they participate in 8 week cycles of different sports and game play. Basketball, volleyball, soccer, and more sports will be part of the fun rotation. All games are inclusive and designed to keep all participants engaged and involved. Youth Soccer

Youth Yoga

Get the ball rolling develop and improve your skills through engaging warmups, activtes and games, all while having fun! Ages: 6-12 Location: Gymnasium Members: $72 Program Members: $120

Youth & Teen Programs STRONG KIDS CARD The YMCA Strong Kids Card is part of the YMCA of Greater New York’s commitment to improving the health and fitness of New York City’s kids age 5-17. This free program allows any youth or teen participating in North Brooklyn Y’s programs at Eastern District, Middle School 347, PS 75, PS 158 or any other program to free access of the North Brooklyn YMCA during designated days and times of the Strong Kids Card activities. Youth Camp (Age 5 yrs. – 12yrs.) A summer of fun and discovery is in store for North Brooklyn YMCA campers. Our well-trained counselors create an exciting atmosphere. Our specialty choice days allow campers extra time doing something they enjoy. A typical camp day is filled with laughter and enthusiasm as children choose to participate in physical, educational and social activities. Emphasis will be placed on teamwork and skill development. Campers will learn and grow through a fun and stimulating camp experience.

Teen Camp (Ages 13 yrs. –16 yrs.) This is a great opportunity for teens to meet new friends and socialize while participating in dance, basketball, and swimming. Teens will engage in peer group discussions and outings. Our summer camp is licensed by the Department of Health and accredited by the American Camping Association. The mandatory standards set by these agencies are upheld by our staff and include safety, quality programming, trained personnel, health and management guidelines. Y Day Camp is designed to provide a positive camp experience, in a safe and accepting environment. Well-trained, qualified staff serve as positive role models for campers. Y Day Camp enhances camper’s self-confidence, self-esteem and leadership skills through well planned fun activities. Campers develop a true understanding of diversity in an atmosphere of acceptance and approval through the uniqueness of others. Campers are motivated to be creative, expressive and learn new skills. Y Day Camp strives to address Summer Learning through theme based curriculum that includes key academic components. Campers will learn appreciation of the environment and learn ways to take an active role in protecting and conserving it. There will be a focus on social development and teamwork. All youth ages 12 - 17 must complete a Fitness Center Orientation prior to using the YMCA Fitness Center. Two levels of orientation are offered for youth: Youth Fitness 101-Includes use of cardiovascular and circuit strength equipment. Youth Fitness 201- Includes use of free weight strength equipment. Prior completion of 101 is requred in order to take 201. Youth members must have parental consent prior to attending the Youth Fitness Center Orientation. TEEN ACTIVITIES Leaders Club is a YMCA national program which provides club members with opportunities for leadership training, personal growth, service to others and social development. Leaders Club is one of the YMCA’s most intensive and comprehensive teen programs. Youths meet on a weekly basis in small groups, working closely with their peers and advisor on skill and character building activities, as well as planning and organizing club projects. By connecting with adult advisors, teens have role models and mentors who can have a positive impact on their lives. The Leaders program provides a safe haven for young people to be confidant and competent young adults with a sense of belonging in the community. Wednesday: 4:30 pm – 6 pm Free Teens Take The City This exciting program teaches teens the essentials of democracy and the civic process, encouraging them to become active and involved citizens. Teens participate in developing, presenting and descending local legislation. The program culminates in a youth legislative session at City Hall.

Global Teens Every summer a selected group of teen members travel either across the country or overseas to perform community service. The program is open to teens 15-years and older. Places visited in the past include Thailand, North Korea, Costa Rica, Brazil, New Mexico and South Dakota. This is a great opportunity to see the world and help others in need. Teen Programs Youth and Government Youth and Government is a national program of the YMCA. It involves thousands of teens nationwide in state organized model government activities, including model legislature, judicial review, executive branch work, lobbying, media/communications and page assignments. They will also have the opportunity to travel to Albany for a weekend of teen legislative sessions with hundreds of young people from New York City and State. Cicuit Training- An efficient and challenging form of conditioning which develops strength, endurance, flexibility, and coordination utilizing a varity of exercises and workout stations.

Kettlebells –This is a total body workout that blends highly effective techniques for improving muscular endurance, total body coordinated movements and cardiovascular conditioning. This class teaches step by step movements with fun choreography, so you can get your feet moving and your heart pumping. Zumba®-ZUMBA is a fusion of Latin and International music, utilizing dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness program. The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Aqua Zumba® - Integrating the ZUMBA formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines, the Aqua Zumba class blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that's cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief. CARDIO STRENGTH Total Body Conditioning - A full body workout designed to strengthen and tone the upper and lower body using hand-held weights.

Policies and Rules MEMBERSHIP RULES AND POLICIES Total Health Vision • The North Brooklyn YMCA will create a welcoming and supportive community to promote healthy, active lifestyles for all ages and to build positive relationship to achieve a lifelong balance of Spirit, Mind and Body. • The North Brooklyn YMCA Total Health membership improves the wellness of the whole person (Spirit, Mind and Body) in a welcoming environment that provides quality equipment, programs, services and professional, certified staff. • Total Health programs are designed to meet individual needs of cardiovascular health, strength training, weight loss, stress reduction and education, while fulfilling members’ expectations of high quality and value. Policy of Non-Discrimination • It is the policy of the Association to make membership available to all persons regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age martial status, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or financial circumstances. The YMCA serves families and persons of all ages, income levels, and physical condition with emphasis on responsibility and self-improvement. Membership Dues Membership dues may be paid with our automatic monthly draft, in three installments advance or in full. Automatic Monthly Draft Automatic monthly draft deductions from a designated checking, savings or credit card account may be financially and administratively beneficial for members. Memberships are automatically renewed, so there is no risk of incurring an additional Contact your bank to determine whether it participates in the Automatic Draft Plan. Benefits of the Automatic Draft Plan Your membership is month-to-month; you may cancel at anytime with no penalty. Fees are spread out over the year at no extra charge and with no added interest. You may suspend your automatic deductions for one to three months per year at a cost of $10. You do not have to renew your membership; it is renewed automatically until you cancel. Only Adult, Senior, College Student and Family Memberships may utilize this option. **Joining Fee is non refundable and is due with the first payment on all plans. It is a one-time charge if membership is renewed.

• Bring your credit card, debit card or voided check from the account to be debited to the Member Welcome Center. • Complete the YMCA bank or credit card draft authorization form. • You can stop your draft at any time by filling out and handing in a cancelation form 15 days prior to the draft date. Forms are available at the Member Welcome Desk. Payment in Full Members make a one-time payment at the start of the membership year. Annual fees can be paid by cash, check, money order or debit card. The YMCA accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discovery cards. Membership Renewals For members who pay annually, renewals must be made by the end of the membership year. The membership office allows for a grace period of one month past the expiration date, after which time the membership lapses and an Joining Fee is required to rejoin. A renewal notice is sent to members toward the end of their membership year. For members who pay monthly, renewal is not necessary; monthly deductions (through the automatic draft plan) continue unless and until a cancellation form is filled out at the Member Welcome desk and handed in 15 days prior to the draft date.

Policies and Rules Freezes and Extensions • Any membership may be frozen once a year for a minimum of one month and a maximum of three months without any penalty. A $10.00 charge applies. A Membership Freeze form must be completed, and is available from the Member Welcome Desk. The fee will be waived for A Freeze due to medical reasons. (Physician Documentation Required) • All requests for membership freezes must be made in advance 15 days before draft date. Freeze forms are available at the Member Welcome Desk. • For members who pay annually, the membership year will be extended for the chosen time period. • For members who pay monthly, the automatic deduction will be suspended for the chosen time period, and automatically resumes the month following the freeze period. Membership cards must be surrendered during the freeze time period. • All members of the North Brooklyn YMCA receive an identification card. For the safety of all, members must present their membership ID cards upon entering the building. • All guests and visitors are required to present a valid photo ID card upon entering the building. • A $10 fee will be charged to replace lost membership cards.

Please note the YMCA reserves the right to limit guest pass usage at anytime for any reason.

Guest Passes • Member Guest Passes: Each adult members are given six (6) complimentary guest passes upon joining and upon each annual membership renewal. These free guest passes will have a one (1) year expiration date, • Member Visits to Other YMCAs: Adult members are allowed ten (10)complimentary visits to any branch in the NY Association in one calendar year. A guest pass fee will be charged after the visits (guest pass fee will be calculated at 50% of the branch guest pass fee). • One-week Guest Passes: There is a limit of (1) one-week guest pass allowed per calendar year for any one individual. • Daily Guest Passes: There is a usage limit of three (3) free daily guest passes allowed per calendar year for any one individual. We may require that each guest be accompanied by a member. The guest MUST be 18yrs or older to use a guest pass and must ALWAYS come with a valid photo ID. • Day Passes: The purchase of fee-based day passes is limited to three (3) per year per individual. ID Cards

• Teen Day Passes: The purchase of fee-based day passes to teens is limited to three (3) per year per individual. The availability of day passes is at the discretion of the YMCA. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult member. • AWAY Guest Visits: Members of YMCAs outside of the YMCA of Greater New York are welcome to visit our YMCA on a limited basis as part of the AWAY (Always Welcome at YMCAs) Program. In one calendar year, a visiting AWAY member is entitled to a total (10) free visits to any branch in the NY Association. Thereafter, the AWAY member must pay one-half of the day pass fee. • Identification: All visitors using guest or day passes must present proper photo identification from an authorized agency in order to use any YMCA facility. Proper identification includes a valid state-issued driver’s license, school ID, passport, or employee ID. AWAY members must present their valid photo ID YMCA membership card. • Application and Waiver: All visitors using guest or day passes must complete an Application for Guest and Day Pass, which includes a liability waiver agreement, before using the YMCA facilities.

Policies and Rules Check Policy • Personal checks are welcome with valid identification. • If checks or automatic drafts are returned for insufficient funds, it will be re-presented electronically and you will be assessed a processing fee of $30 or the maximum amount allowed by the law. The check writer is also responsible for all other check recovery costs, including all attorney’s fees, court costs and taxes. • Checks may not be used for Guest Rooms and Day Camp fees. Refunds and Credits • For paid-in-full memberships, refunds are given for the unused portion of the membership. Membership refunds are prorated on a monthly basis. A written request is required. • Joining Fee is non-refundable. • Refunds are not given for non-use of the facility. • Deposits for child-care programs are non-refundable. • Credits for programs and classes are given only in the event of illness or family emergency. A written request and documentation are required. • Class and program refunds are given only if the North Brooklyn YMCA cancels a class. • Credits must be utilized within one year of issuance. • NO refunds of credits after 2nd week of program. • Personal Training and Private Swim lessons are not refundable. (All packages expire one year from date of purchase) • Special Membership Fees-i.e. Day Passes, Summer Memberships are not refundable Please complete a Request for Credit or Refund form located at the Member Services Desk. Membership Refunds are prorated on a monthly basis. Please allow 4 weeks for processing.

Swimming Pool Rules • Users must shower before entering the pool. • Swim caps are required at all times for all swimmers. • Street shoes are not permitted on the pool deck. • Members and facility users are required to follow posted signs and lifeguard directions. • Children 8 years and under must be within arms reach of an adult (18 & over) in the water. • Children 9-11 years must have an adult on the pool deck or viewing area. • All non-swimmers must remain in the shallow area. • Any child wearing a flotation devise must remain in the shallow area. Backpacks/bubbles are provided as flotation devises to non-swimmers. • Infants and children who are not fully toilet trained must wear a swim diaper. • Inflatable rings, balls or other pool toys are not allowed.

Policies and Rules Lap Swim Etiquette • Lanes are divided into three (3) speeds: slow, medium, and fast. • Distances: 18 lengths = 1/4 mile; 36 lengths = 1/2 mile; 54 lengths = 3/4 mile; 72 lengths = 1 mile. Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of all swimmers, and may ask swimmers to change lanes. • Maximum 5 swimmers per lane. One or two swimmers may split the lane; three or more swimmers must move in counterclockwise circles, staying to the right. A swimmer entering a lane where one or more people are already swim ming must make sure that the other person/peo ple see him/her before starting to swim, especially when this means circle swimming is required. • Diving is not permitted. • Slower swimmers must allow faster swimmers to pass at the wall. • Fins are not permitted. • Spitting in pool or pool gutters is not allowed. • Lap swim time is for lap swimmers only, no recreational swim or play is allowed. • If a lane is empty, a swimmer may stretch or exercise. • Kickboards and pull buoys are available for use (please replace after use). • Food, gum and beverages are not allowed in the pool area. Glass bottles are strictly prohibited. • Lap swim time is for teens and adults; children under age 13 are not permitted. • Proper bathing attire is required; jeans, shorts and cutoffs are not allowed. T-shirts are allowed, provided they are white or colorfast. • Swimmers with visible sores or infections is not allowed. Aquatic Swim Lessons Policy • Swimmers are allowed in the pool for the duration of their lessons only. If pool scheduling allows, students who wish to swim before or after their lesson must pay the appropriate drop-in fee at the North Brooklyn YMCA Member Welcome Center. Members do not have to pay but they must show proof of membership. No substitution for the registered student is permissible. Only the person signed up for the lesson can take the lesson. • Transfer – If participant is transferring from another program, please inform Keith Delph, Aquatics Director, before booking the lesson. This way the credit amount can be applied to the private lesson fee and you only pay the difference.

• Make-up Policy – North Brooklyn YMCA does not supply make-ups for missed lesson or late arrivals of the student EXCEPT: A. Lessons missed due to pool problems or unsched uled closing of the facility. B. Lessons missed due to instructor absence or tardiness (10 minutes or more). C. With a Doctor’s note after first cancellation. All private swim lesson packages must be completed during the time frame in which they are purchased. Fitness Center and Weight Room Rules • Personal training is done ONLY by YMCA training staff. • Street shoes, sandals, baseball caps and do-rags are not permitted. • Personal belongings (bags, coats, etc.) may not be brought into the fitness rooms. Please leave belongi ngs in lockers provided. • No street clothes such as jeans or jean shorts may be worn in the fitness rooms. • Shirts must be worn at all times. • No food or drink is allowed in fitness rooms, gymnasium or pool, except for water in closed containers only. • There is a 30 minute limit on cardiovascular equip ment when others are waiting. Please monitor the time accordingly. • Teen members ages 12–17 may use the Fitness Center during specific hours once they have received an orientation. • Upon completion of this course, teens will receive stickers for the backs of their membership ID cards and must present ID cards to floor monitor upon entering the Fitness Center. • Non-compliance with these policies can result in being asked to leave the facility or suspension / termination of membership priviledges.. Fitness Center Etiquette • Please share equipment. If another member is wait ing to use a machine, please complete your set and allow him/her to take a turn. • All machine controls, seats, and railings must be wiped down after use. Please use the paper towels and cleaning solution provided. • Return equipment to its starting position and turn off when your workout is finished. • No one under the age of 12 is permitted in the Fitness Center. • The staff reserves the right to intervene when an individual is exercising in an unsafe manner.

Policies and Rules GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES RULES • Class participation is on a drop-in, first-come, firstserve basis. • As space is limited, registration of all classes is required at the Member Welcome Center. • Introduce yourself to the instructor if it is the first time in class. • If you are late, warm up before joining in. For safety reasons, you will not be allowed to participate 10 minutes after class start time. • Exercise at your own pace. • Return equipment to its proper place. • Spin Tickets are given out an hour before a class starts and 10 minutes after the class has started. Spin Classes are managed through a ticket system to prevent a class from becoming over-crowded. Tickets are given ONE per person after they have checked themselves in to use the facility. LOCKER ROOMS RULES We provide three locker rooms: • Women’s: with full, half and kit lockers, (ages 18 & up), steam room. • Girls: children and teens (under 18). • Men’s: with full, half and kit lockers, (ages 18 & up) sauna. • Boys: children and teens (under 18). • Family: Two changing stalls for men changing girls under the age of six and women changing boys under the age of six. • Cell phones are not permitted. • No eating or drinking allowed. Lockers • Full and half lockers are for day use only and are free. They should be emptied after every use. • Members must bring their own locks. • Kit Lockers are available overnight at an annual fee of $100.00 Kit Lockers are the only lockers that may be locked overnight. All other lockers will have locks clipped and belongings removed. Please do not leave personal items unlocked and unattended. The YMCA is not responsible for missing items. Sauna and Steam Room • No one under 18 is permitted in the sauna or steam room.

COMPUTER LAB RULES The North Brooklyn YMCA is pleased to offer a Computer Lab during posted hours as a virtual learning space for students, and as a resource to members of our community. To ensure a productive and enjoyable experience for everyone, please follow these guidelines, based on our four core values. • Caring Please refrain from bringing food or drink, talking loudly or using cell phones. • Honesty Please present your YMCA ID to the Lab Monitor when checking in. • Respect Visiting websites containing inappropriate material is prohibited. • Responsibility to help protect the Computer Lab from viruses, please do not download any content or connect any of the following to the computers: flash drives, MP3 players, digital cameras.

YMCA Strong Kids Campaign ENSURING EVERYONE CAN PARTICIPATE! At the North Brooklyn YMCA, no child or family is turned away because of the inability to afford a program or membership. In 2010, we provided over $90,000 in financial assistance to over 452 local youth and families in need of YMCA program and services including day camp, child care, after school programs and a wide variety of youth and teen recreation and outreach activities. With your support, we can continue to ensure that all children, teens and families, regardless of their financial situation, will have the opportunity to be a part of the Y. NORTH BROOKLYN YMCA HERITAGE SOCIETY The Heritage Society recognizes those who have indicated their intention to include the YMCA in their estate plans or who have made an outright gift to the YMCA ‘s Endowment Fund. The Endowment is a powerful permanent legacy to further the work of the YMCA. Each year a portion of the Endowment’s income is used to support programs at our YMCA, including scholarships, free of reduced-fee afterschool activities and summer camps for youth. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE The YMCA provides assistance to those who face financial difficulties. No one is ever turned away due to an inability to pay. Every year, special events and Strong Kids Campaign dollars help to support the work of the YMCA, particularly with youth programs, and enable us to offer need-based scholarships to participants.
