Our camps are ACA Accredited The American Camp Association is the only nationwide organization that accredits children’s camps. The ACA Accreditation process is a commitment by camps to the highest standards of health, safety and program quality. Accreditation requirements include a focus on staff qualifications, training, supervision ratios and procedures, as well as operational management including safety regulations and emergency procedures and communications.

If you need care outside of the scheduled camp hours, the Y offers an extended care program. Extended care is complimentary in the morning and an afternoon option is available for a weekly cost. What are TRADITIONAL CAMPS? Traditional camps are ultra-spirited, fun-filled camps with weekly themes that guide activities and trips for the week. Your camper will be traveling on special adventures throughout San Diego: visiting theme parks, swimming, going to local parks and beaches, or simply having a great time on-site at the YMCA!

IMPORTANT CAMP INFORMATION PAYMENT METHOD Paying for camp is easy! Log online to pay your camp balance or stop by at our front desk. Two payment options are available for your convenience: 1. Pay now: Pay your full balance including a $25 nonrefundable deposit per camp week. 2. Pay later: Pay an upfront $25 nonrefundable deposit per camp week. The remainder of the balance will be due seven days before the first day of camp. Please note you will not be mailed an invoice. A balance due email will be sent to the email address you provide in your registration application. It saves to pay early! Full camp balances are due one week prior to the start of each camp. An additional $25 will be added to unpaid balances starting the Tuesday before camp. Your camper may lose their place in our roster if the balance isn’t paid.

DROP-OFF/ SIGN-OUT PROCEDURES To ensure an efficient drop-off process, please make sure you follow all posted drop-off instructions. A signature from a parent, guardian or authorized adult is required in our daily sign-in sheet for your child to participate in camp activities. For late arrivals, it will be the responsibility of the parent or guardian to sign-in and ensure your child gets to their designated camp area. Only parents and/or guardians are authorized to sign a child out of our camp programs. If you need to add another person to your authorized pick-up list, please make sure this is documented with our camp staff. All adults picking up a camper are required to present a photo ID.

A medical release/liability waiver must be submitted during the registration process.

IMPORTANT CAMP INFORMATION CANCELLATION POLICY We understand circumstances change and that you may need to revisit your camp options. Cancellation: Cancellation requests received prior to the start of the camp week will receive a 100 percent refund or Y-voucher minus the deposit. Requests received the first day of camp will receive a 75 percent refund or Y-voucher minus the deposit and camp vendor fees*. Additional service fees may be applied to credit card refunds. Refunds and Y-vouchers are not given if the cancellation request is received after the first day of camp. Missed camp and/or sick days are not eligible to receive refunds or Y-vouchers. *Certain branches and camps may have specific cancellation requirements outside of our general policy. Please check with your camp director to confirm a specific camp’s cancellation requirement.

MEDICATION Should your camper need to take medication during the program, we will administer as directed. The following items are essential for us to dispense any medication: • The medication will need to be checked in with a Day Camp Staff. Please do not leave the medication with your camper, including over the counter medication, epi-pens, inhalers, creams, eye drops, etc. • Medication must be in its original container with labeled prescription instructions. • A completed Medication Release form must be signed and submitted.

Y-Vouchers: Y-vouchers do not expire and are valid for any program at all YMCA locations in San Diego County. Y-vouchers can be transferred to another member of your family or friend. Transfer Request: Transfer requests are accepted through the Tuesday of the camp week. Camp fee differences must be paid at the time of transfer. All transfers are subject to availability.

FAQS Do you offer financial assistance?

We offer financial assistance through our Access Scholarship Program to qualified applicants ensuring everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Apply at ymcasd.org/access or pick up a confidential application at our front desk. We also accept third party payments from agencies such as CDA, CRS, KINSHIP, and Cal-Work.

What are the hours of camp?

Our camp day runs from 9am-4pm Monday-Friday. We offer complimentary care before camp and extended care in the afternoon for an additional fee.

How will my camper be transported to field trips?

Transportation is provided through our buses. All vehicles are inspected and checked by licensed mechanics as well as the California Highway Patrol.

What do I need to send my camper with each day? We will supply the atmosphere for a great camp experience and ask that you send your camper with a lunch, snack, a water bottle and closed-toe shoes. As a alternative the Seamless Feeding Program will run from June 22 - August 7 providing a FREE lunch and PM snack. We recommend applying sunscreen before you get to camp and our camp staff will supply sunscreen to campers regularly throughout the day.

Can you tell me more about camp fees and deposits?

A $25 deposit is required for each week of camp. Deposits are non-refundable, non-transferable and are not subject to any discounts, promotions or financial assistance. Deposits are applied to the camp fee. Camp fees are the published rates in this brochure and are good up to the Monday before camp begins. Camp fees will increase $25 for registrations received Tuesday or later for the following week. To discuss payment options, please contact the Camp Director.

For campers who love to cheer and dance, this camp will provide them the outlet they are looking for. As the week progresses, campers will be learning different dance styles and techniques, building on their dance skills, as well as having the opportunity to express their creativity in choreographing their own dance with a small group. They will also learn a cheer routine as a whole group. This camp will culminate in a performance for family and friends on Friday. When campers aren’t dancing and cheering the day away, they will also get to play camp games, make arts and crafts projects, and just enjoy being with new friends. At the end of this week your camper will have gained new cheer and dance skills, made lasting friendships and developed self-confidence in their amazing abilities!

From hip hop to ballet, this camp will be sure to get your camper up and moving! Campers will partner up to choreograph their own dance routine as well as learn a choreographed routine. Campers will travel to the McGrath Family YMCA Gymnastics Center in Rancho San Diego every afternoon throughout the week. Campers will receive ability specific instruction by expert Y gymnastics coaches each day. The foam pit is calling!

A great introduction to sports for beginner and intermediate sports enthusiasts! Campers will receive 2-hours of sports instruction daily- soccer, baseball, football and basketball. Campers will also have a 1-hour recreational swim session daily. Campers will be separated by age and ability for lessons as necessary. Campers will spend their afternoons engaging in traditional camp activities, such as songs, skits, crafts, and fun with water games.

This camp is designed to not only get kids up close and personal with different animals, but to also teach them what it takes to work with animals in the future. They’ll meet animal ambassadors and animal experts, as well as spend time with a wide variety of animals! Spend a fun filled day at the San Diego Zoo. Travel to the Living Coast Discovery Center for behind the scenes animal encounters. Meet Mr. Ben, the Radical Reptiles expert for a handson animal experience.

This camp is designed to get your camper out in the water and to experience what our local bays and oceans have to offer! Campers will spend one day boogie boarding, one day kayaking, one day sailing at the Mission Bay Aquatics Center and their final day hanging at the bay with their friends.

Campers will travel to their location each day where they will spend their day hands on with their favorite games, such as Pokémon and magic the gathering. Campers will learn the basics behind these games, play in tournaments and gain skills in cooperation and team building. Campers will also have the opportunity to play traditional board games, as well as to create their own games.

This camp is designed to be a fun and educational experience for beginner and intermediate ice skaters. Traveling to San Diego Ice Arena, campers will receive 30 minutes of instructional lessons every day. Lessons are followed by a public session where they will skate to the latest tunes. Parents are invited to a basic skills show on Friday. Skates and helmets are provided.

Campers will spend the week exploring all that Sea World has to offer. From their world renown animal shows, thrilling rides and exciting animal exhibits, your camper will surely have an exciting week that they won’t soon forget. Campers receive a Sea World Fun Pass good for return visits for the rest of 2020 with this camp.

Wild Encounters will give campers a behind the scenes look at what takes place with the animals at the Zoo. Each day the campers will receive a guided tour of a different animal enclosure, to learn about the animals and what care is needed for each animal. Campers will also spend time with the camp staff enjoying the zoo without a tour guide. At the end of this week your camper will have gained new animal knowledge, made lasting friendships, as well as made new discoveries about the world around them!

Campers will get out each day, challenge themselves and each other, and test their own limits! Campers will spend one day at Laser Tag, one day Rock Climbing, one day at iFly, one day doing Parkour and one day at Dave and Busters.

Campers will use unconventional methods to create masterpieces while having fun and getting messy! Campers will also spend one afternoon cooling off in our pool.

Ever wondered what Green Eggs and Ham really tastes like? Or why Dragons love Tacos? Join us for a wonderful adventure of traveling through the world of books paired with literacy inspired foods and recipes. Each day campers will explore a new classic children’s book, creating the foods inspired by it, as well as fun take home crafts that correspond. Campers will also spend a part of their day doing group games, fun camp inspired activities, and just being kids. Campers will spend one day cooling off in our pool.

Weird Science campers will participate in many fun, unique and gooey science experiences throughout the week. They will have the opportunity to create their own experiments, as well as participate in ones that their camp leaders have designed. Campers in this camp will develop hypothesis, test them out, observe and come to conclusions with a variety of experiments. The Leaders in Training program is required each year for all participants regardless of past experience in the program. In this training, your teen will interact in developing the idea of what a leader does and how a leader acts. In addition, there will be specific training on camp leadership skills; working with 5-12 year olds, camp songs, games and crafts. All participants will get CPR and First Aid Certified.

LIT Fieldwork is an opportunity for LIT’s who have successfully completed our training course to use their leadership skills in the field of camp and enjoy the rewards of working with the YMCA’s incredible staff team. LITs will experience various camp programs, assist in the daily operations of camp, and receive valuable onthe-job experience that will help build a strong foundation for either a recreational or childcare career. Teens will be placed into age-appropriate camps prior to the start of the fieldwork week. If you sign up over the weekend, your camp placement will be made Monday morning by 8:30am. Join our team in making a difference in the lives of many young campers this summer while earning school-required volunteer service hours!
