Our camps are ACA Accredited The American Camp Association is the only nationwide organization that accredits children’s camps. The ACA Accreditation process is a commitment by camps to the highest standards of health, safety and program quality. Accreditation requirements include a focus on staff qualifications, training, supervision ratios and procedures, as well as operational management including safety regulations and emergency procedures and communications.

WHAT ARE TRADITIONAL

CAMPS?

Traditional camps are ultra-spirited, fun-filled camps with weekly themes that guide activities and trips for the week. Your camper will be traveling on special adventures throughout San Diego: visiting theme parks, taking swim lessons, going to local parks and beaches, or simply having a great time on-site at the YMCA!

TRADITIONAL CAMPS Join Y Day Camp for a week or an entire summer of fun! New experiences, skill building, a sense of community and lasting friendships are all part of Traditional Day Camps. Trained Camp Leaders focus on caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all of our activities to maximize fun during the day! Set in the YMCA style of different activities and themes each week. Your camper will participate in team building games, arts & crafts, science experiments and more! These camps do not travel and will stay at the YMCA for all of their activities and adventures.

TRADITIONAL TRAVEL CAMPS Take camper adventures to the next level this summer! Build self-confidence, meet new friends and have a blast while exploring San Diego. Get a thrill from activities at the camp facility such as sports clinics, science experiments and arts & crafts while exploring exciting weekly themes. As if this isn’t enough, take exciting trips to sites throughout San Diego and bring home stories to share. Day campers will be divided into small groups by age and will participate in activities that match their interests and needs. Travelers and Navigators Camp travel five times each week.

AGES: 5-12 WEEKS 3, 4 & 6 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $229 | $270 Flip over this high-energy, gymnastics-based camp! Travel each day to the Eastlake YMCA Gymnastics Center for two hours of instruction from our exceptional YMCA coaches. This camp is designed to test and improve speed, agility and balance. Master novice obstacle courses and practice stunts each day. AGES: 7-12 WEEKS 1, 3 & 6 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $211 | $249 Bullseye! This summer, take a shot at a fun sport with ACA Certified YMCA Archery Instructors. With steady hands, and straight aim, our little archers will be learning about equipment, shooting and technique. Campers will also participate in themed craft activities and games. All equipment needed to participate will be included.

AGES: 6-12 WEEK 1 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $211 | $249 Your camper could learn to be the next big NBA star with this camp. Daily activities include instruction in dribbling, passing, shooting and positioning. With the YMCA, basketball camp is for young athletes looking to build fundamental skills this summer.

BMX PRO CAMP*

AGES: 8-13 WEEK 3 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $311 | $366 Learn from BMX world champions and Olympians at Dale Holmes Racing as they supply all the bikes, equipment and instruction for your budding BMX racing pro! This high-demand camp is for beginners and experts alike. All campers will depart with goodie bags stuffed with a t-shirt, hat, stickers and a copy of Extreme Cycling. Please note: Long pants, a shirt and closed-toe shoes are required for riding, but campers may bring shorts for after riding.

AGES: 7-12 WEEK 5 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $243 | $286 This camp is sure to strike everyones’ interest! The bowling alley will provide lanes and shoes for two hours and the YMCA will provide excitement and fun to spare! No experience is necessary. Bumper bowl will be used for younger bowlers. Please be sure that campers bring socks each day. AGES: 7-12 WEEK 6 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $211 | $249 This high energy camp will focus on all aspects of cheer leading. Throughout the week campers will work on jumps, arm movements, tumbling and choreography. Cheerleaders will work on their routines and cheer skills for 3 hours each day while also enjoying arts, crafts and games. We will have a parent show at the end of the week to showcase all of the skills that your camper has learned.

AGES: 7-12 WEEK 3 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $243 | $286 Checkmate! Mountain Lake Chess will spend the week teaching campers the rules, strategies and tactics of the game of chess. Along with a week filled with learning the game of chess, campers will also participate in art, science and traditional camp games.

COOKING AND CHEMISTRY

AGES: 6-12 WEEK 3 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $243 | $286 Make awesome culinary concoctions while learning about the wonders of science with Cooking and Chemistry Camp! We use cooking as a mode to teach kids about the chemical properties of certain foods, and how phenomena such as heating, cooling, stirring and other cookingrelated actions can fundamentally alter an inedible (or just gross) substance or group of substances into the delicious food that we enjoy every day. Please let us know if your child has any allergies or other dietary restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, lactose intolerant) when signing up so we can alter our material accordingly.

Campers will split into groups to learn unique styles and choreography and put on a show Friday for family and friends!

DINO ADVENTURES

AGES: 5-8 WEEK 5 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $243 | $286 Take a journey though the Triassic, Cretaceous and Jurassic periods! We will take a look at the dinosaurs that lived in each period while making lots of dinosaur crafts, playing fun dinosaur games and doing just a little bit of digging for fossils.

ENGINEER IT!

AGES: 7-12 WEEK 1 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $243 | $286 Learn how to become a young engineer! Every day campers will learn how to work with basic tools, Legos, popsicle sticks and various other items to create different structures. Campers will be skilled and more knowledgeable about all the tools it takes to be an engineer. Take home projects to show family and friends!

AGES: 6-12 WEEK 6 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $211 | $249 Down, set….HIKE! Join the YMCA’s instructional flag football camp. Camp will include the fundamentals of passing, catching, blocking and kicking. Daily scrimmages will emphasize basic football strategy. No special equipment required. Show family and friends what you have learned in a friendly game on Friday!

AGES: 7-12 WEEK 6 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $243 | $286 Game Empire in Clairemont Mesa gives your child the opportunity to have the ultimate gaming experience. The Game Empire staff will help teach a variety of board games and lead campers in exciting team games, contests and competitions. Make your move and get in on all the fun and games at this huge facility.

Campers will learn about the culture and history of each country through games, crafts and food projects. Take home projects to teach your friends and family about the world! Camp will include a service project to help support children in need from around the world.

AGES: 7-12 WEEK 5 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $211 | $249 Welcome to Hogwarts! Campers will be sorted into their magical houses where they will work together to compete in themed crafts, games and projects. Explore the world of Harry Potter by creating a wand, playing Quidditch and becoming a potion master.

HORSEBACK RIDING*

AGES: 7-12 WEEKS 1 & 4 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $375 | $442 Come ride with us this summer! Campers will spend their days at Sweetwater Ranch in Bonita learning the basics of equestrian instruction. Learn about haltering, leading, tying, riding, grooming and tacking in this fun camp. Please note: Long pants and hard sole shoes or boots with heels are recommended. Safety riding helmets are provided.

ICE HOCKEY*

AGES: 7-12 WEEK 5 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $243 | $286 This camp is made for all hockey enthusiasts, whether they are a beginner or intermediate player. Daily lessons will focus on techniques such as balance, stick work, speed and teamwork followed by a public skate session. Parents are invited to a basic skills showcase on Friday! Please note: Campers should bring or wear socks each day. If you don’t have a helmet, one will be provided.

ICE SKATING*

AGES: 7-12 WEEKS 2 & 5 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $243 | $286 This camp is designed to be a fun and educational experience for beginner and intermediate ice skaters. Traveling to San Diego Ice Arena, campers will get 30 minutes of instructional lessons every day. Lessons are followed by a three-hour public session where they will skate to the latest tunes. Parents are invited to a basic skills show on Friday. Only skates are provided. Campers may bring their own skates and gloves. Please note: For ice skating, campers should bring or wear socks each day. *Traveling camp

JR. BIOLOGIST*

AGES: 6-12 WEEK 6 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $243 | $286 This is the perfect camp for a budding biologist! Campers will explore life under the microscope and in the surrounding marsh. Campers will get an up-close interaction with the wildlife by feeding sharks and meeting sea turtles. They will even learn about what it takes to care for eagles and owls and enjoy the Living Coast Discovery Center each day.

JR. RANGER*

AGES: 7-12 WEEK 4 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $243 | $286 Campers will learn the basics of becoming a self sufficient outdoors man and develop skills such as rope tying, how to set traps, plant identification, animal tracks, basic first aid and more! At the end of the week, they will receive their Jr. Ranger Certificate.

KAYAKING*

AGES: 7-12 WEEK 4 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $243 | $286 Come join the wonderful world of kayaking! In this exciting camp, our passionate and experienced instructors will introduce campers to this popular water sport. First time boaters will learn basics about their life jackets, kayaks and paddles. Then they’ll work directly alongside instructors to practice skills like water exits and boat flips. As they progress, campers will take tours of San Diego’s waterways. Join us for a confidencebuilding and memory-making summer!

LASER TAG

Campers of all ability levels enjoy the full range of the laser tag experience including exciting team-building and game-tactical components. During the camp week, campers will play a wide variety of game formats and become seasoned players. Campers will receive two hours of daily instruction in the fundamentals of rock climbing at Vertical Hold Rock Climbing Gym, San Diego’s premier indoor rock climbing facility. Experienced climbers will also teach your campers about different knots and a variety of techniques for successful climbing. No previous climbing experience is necessary. Equipment for rock climbing will be provided. A vendor waiver is required to participate.

Enjoy two hours of daily water time at the South Bay Family YMCA Aquatic Center that includes a daily 30 minute swim lesson! Swim lessons are divided by height and taught by YMCA certified swim instructors. Camp groups will be separated by grade.

AGES: 8-12 WEEK 3 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $222 | $262 Enjoy two hours of daily water time at the South Bay Family YMCA Aquatics Center. Splash Level 2 is recommended for Stages 4, 5 and 6 equivalent swim lesson participants. Campers will focus on stroke introduction, learning basic stroke technique in front crawl (freestyle) and back crawl (backstroke). Elements of breaststroke and butterfly are introduced and water safety techniques are reinforced. Please note: Prerequisites for this advanced camp are similar to our branch swim test that allows use of the big pool. Children must be able to: tread water independently for 1 minute, swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) independently and swim on their front with side breathing at least 15 yards and swim on their back at least 15 yards.

Through the course of this week-long camp, campers will learn how to shoot lots of different types of videos, ranging from sports videos to video tutorials to short skits and many things in between. We will also be looking at the different aspects that go on behind the scenes of a successful video project, such as story boarding, scene blocking and prop design. AGES: 12-17 WEEKS 1-6 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $211 | $249 Travel each day to a different San Diego location! Trips will be included on weekly calendars and focus on fun with fitness, environmental education, culture and creativity, real world wonders and technology. LEADERS IN TRAINING

AGES: 14-17 WEEKS 1, 3 & 5 SOUTH BAY FAMILY YMCA TEEN CENTER WEEKLY COST: $198 | $233 Leaders in Training (L.I.T.) is a comprehensive job readiness program that prepares and provides teens with an opportunity for hands on experience as an L.I.T. Volunteer. Training modules include: individual leadership, resume development, CPR and First Aid certification, professional conduct, interview skills, youth development and supervision, child abuse prevention, risk management and program development. Through this program, youth will acquire basic professional skills and knowledge that will help attain any entry level position. Teens that successfully complete the L.I.T. training program will be eligible to participate in L.I.T. Field Work. Trainees will not receive Community Service Credit for L.I.T. Training, only for the L.I.T. Placement course. L.I.T. Training is held from 8:00am to 4:00pm daily.

LEADERS IN TRAINING (L.I.T.) PLACEMENT

AGES: 14-17 WEEKS 1-6 CORKY MCMILLIN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY COST: $90 | $106 L.I.T. Placement consists of providing opportunities for youth to gain valuable work experience and job training as a volunteer in the school-age Day Camp program. Participants will work side by side with YMCA staff in order to provide supervision and programming to elementary age youth. L.I.T.’s will facilitate games and activities and accompany camps on field trips. L.I.T. Placement participants will receive community service hours for time spent assisting in YMCA Camp Programs. L.I.T. Training is required prior to registering for the L.I.T. Placement program.

FAQS Do you offer financial assistance?

We offer financial assistance through our Access Scholarship Program to qualified applicants ensuring everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Apply at ymcasd.org/access or pick up a confidential application at our front desk. We also accept childcare vouchers from agencies such as CDA, CRS, KINSHIP and Cal-Work.

What are the hours of camp?

Our camp day runs from 9:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday. We also offer extended care before and after camp each day for your convenience. Extended care is from 6:00am9:00am and 4:00pm-6:00pm at no additional cost to you.

How will my camper be transported to field trips?

Transportation is provided through our buses. All vehicles are inspected and checked by licensed mechanics as well as the California Highway Patrol.

What do I need to send my camper with each day?

We will supply the atmosphere for a great camp experience and ask that you send your camper with a lunch, at least 2 snacks, a water bottle and closed-toe shoes. We recommend applying sunscreen before you get to camp and our camp staff will supply sunscreen to campers regularly throughout the day. During our afternoon extended care, we will provide a healthy snack for your kids after a long day of fun at camp!

Can you tell me more about camp fees and deposits? A $25 deposit is required for each week of camp. Deposits are non-refundable, non-transferable and are not subject to any discounts, promotions or financial assistance. Deposits are applied to the camp fee. Camp fees are the published rates in this brochure and are good up to the Monday before camp begins. Camp fees will increase $25 for registrations received Tuesday or later for the following week. To discuss payment options, please contact the Camp Director.

Camp Marston is San Diego’s oldest overnight camp. Located on over two hundred acres of pristine mountain land next to Lake Jessop, Camp Marston offers traditional overnight camps year round. With a variety of activities ranging from archery to arts and crafts, your child will have the ultimate camping experience.

RAINTREE RANCH | Grades 4-12

Tucked away in the forest outside of Julian, our westernthemed camp focuses on horseback riding, caring for horses and traditional camp fun! Guided by highly trained staff, campers learn responsibility and build confidence through fun-filled adventures with new friends and progressively structured horsemanship programs.
