Program Information

With our dedication to offering high-quality, research-based programs that are fun and enriching for your child, there are many reasons why YMCA Child Care is different.

We’re a charity

As a charity, all YMCA Child Care programs are non-profit and reflect our values of caring, respect, honesty, responsibility, and inclusiveness. Our staff embodies these values in their relationship with every child.

We embrace the power of play.

Research has shown that play is the natural way children learn, and this serves as the foundation for all YMCA Child Care programs. When children play, they have fun, explore their interests, and therefore spend longer on a task. Most importantly, they are trying new things, using their imagination, problem-solving, and developing new skills. Our exclusive "Playing to Learn " program and centres are designed to allow children to participate in independent or small group play while YMCA educators support and engage in their learning.

Program Overview

The Saskatoon Early Years Family Resource Centre is officially open for families! The Centre offers programs and services for families with children 5 years of age and younger. Everything is free of charge to families and all are welcome.

What can you do at the Centre?

Families can join groups focused on music, art, reading, parenting, early development, and more. Parents and caregivers can connect with early childhood professionals such as nurses, counsellors, and early childhood educators. Parents and caregivers can play and connect with their children in the drop-in play space and through guided activities. The Centre is a welcoming and supportive place in which families can play, connect, and grow together. All programs are by registration only; this can be done via our website.

What about COVID-19?

Due to COVID-19, things will look a little different at the Centre. Our groups will be limited to a small number of families, and families will need to pre-register for the programs they would like to join. We will open up our drop-in space for families on a pre-registered basis and space will be reconfigured to allow for thorough sanitization (we ’ll be putting the pillows, puppets, and other fabric items away for now). We will also be offering programs and resources virtually and through other non-contact formats. You can find out all the details about what we ’ll be offering and when on our website at www.saskatoonfamilycentre.ca or email us at frc@ymcasaskatoon.org. Do you have an idea for a group or resource you ’d like to see at the Centre? Let us know!

We look forward to welcoming children, parents, and caregivers to the Centre both in person and virtually!

Strong Kids Annual Campaign

Over the year, through the generous support of individual and corporate sponsors, we are able to help provide services to children and their families in our community!

We provided over 900 swimming lessons to children, sent over 150 kids to various camps, and supported over 100 families with their BASC fees. Your support and donations go a long way.

You have helped us reach our goal of $185,000! You can still contribute by visiting www.ymcasaskatoon.org/donate to give bi-weekly, monthly or a one-time gift. Every dollar counts, and no donation is too small!

Would you like to see your donation go even further? Ask me how to confirm if your employer will match donations or offer in-kind donations for volunteer service!

Helps a child attend one of our Schools Out Day Camp for one week Sends one child to Summer Day Camp for a week Helps to provide support to a child in one of our BASC (Before & After School Care) Programs Will help provide a family lasting benefits of regular physical activity with a membership

Thank You K+S Potash Canada, Kinsmen Club and...

Without generous partnerships such as those from Corporate or Charitable Partners, we would not have been able to reach our goal so much quicker this year. It certainly helps make a bigger impact when we can combine funds from organizations such as these ALONGSIDE with donations from our individual and small business supporters, we all can feel good about supporting our various campaigns. Did you know you donate to the Strong Kids fund, the YChampions fund (providing assistance to adults and community partners), the Imagine Fund (helping to keep our Y sustainable and updated for future growth), or even our Legacy Club Fund (where you can designate a gift to the YMCA in your will).

Let' s connect as a business, charitable partner or individual to keep the community growing. serena.dallas@ymcasaskatoon.org
