Edition 3.

Hello Parents, At the Y, we are passionate about providing our swimmers with opportunities to enhance their aquatic skills and knowledge in and out of the pool! This activity booklet enables students to continue their learning with us when they may be away from lessons in the pool for holidays, illness or just taking a well-earned break! It is designed with activities to work alone, with a friend, sibling or with a parent. We have also included a number of links for your child to participate in some fun and interactive online learning opportunities.

Hey Kids, We’re so glad you’re back with us for some more learning away from the pool in our “do it from home” activity book! You’re going to have fun helping Philbert, the superhero, tackle many challenges in our latest edition. Keep your eye out for that tricky shark, Jet. He can be a bit sneaky and loves to play the villain.

JET PLAYS THE VILLAIN! Philbert has received a call from a worried friend. Something has gone terribly wrong at her house and she needs Philbert’s help immediately. When Philbert arrives, he can see problems everywhere! Philbert’s friend does not know how this happened, but tells Philbert she thought she saw a flash of blue speed through the swimming pool. Hmm…… Help Philbert fix this fast and CIRCLE THE DANGERS before someone gets hurt. Lucky you can use your super hazard-spotting powers!

JET PLAYS THE VILLAIN! Another call comes in! A nearby beach has been littered with rubbish! With the tide coming in, all of this could end up in the ocean, polluting the water for swimmers and endangering wildlife. The lifeguard on duty has no idea how this happened, however, reported that he saw a blue fin that seemed to be floating in mid-air! Hmm‌‌ Lucky Philbert can use his self-duplication powers and get this job done FAST!

1 How many pieces of rubbish are there on the beach? 2 How many times will Philbert need to duplicate himself to pick up all of the rubbish?

JET PLAYS THE VILLAIN! Another call for help! Someone has played a trick on the lifeguards at the local YMCA pool, they are locked outside of the gate! There are swimmers in the pool and no one to watch them and keep them safe. This is serious. Philbert must use his flying cape to get there as quick as possible. When he arrives, a swimmer is in trouble. Philbert finds a floating object and throws it to the swimmer so he can float with it, and kick back to safety.

JET PLAYS THE VILLAIN Philbert unlocks the gate and lets the lifeguards in. They call for an ambulance so the swimmer can be checked over to make sure she is ok. What number did Philbert and the lifeguards call to contact the ambulance?

Luckily, the ambulance arrives and the boy is ok. The YMCA lifeguards don’t know how this happened. They thank Philbert and tell him they are certain they saw a flash of blue bouncing over the pool fences. Hmm…… Philbert and the lifeguards knew to call the ambulance after the boy was rescued from the pool.
