Hi, my name is Rene’ Westbrook, and I am a photogpher. It is still really hard for me to say that. I find it hard to seriously think of myself as a photographer, but that is what I am. The year that the HP 3.2 megapixil point and shoot hit the market was the year of Harley Davidson’s 100th birthday party. Growing up in Wisconsin it was practically mandatory that one attend the party, so of course I went and my little camera went with me. That was when I discovered I had an “eye” for seeing the potential of an image. Fast forward 5 years when I got my first DSLR 2 camera weeks before driving across country to the Harley Davidson 105th anniversary. This time we took my bike in the back of a pickup and what a trip it was! This country is so beautiful! And all along my travels I sure was winging it with that camera. I had no clue what I was doing, but I managed to get some amazing shots all the same. Being new, I drove myself crazy trying to figure out settings and what I was doing. I finally found a photography group on Facebook out of Portland, Oregon and nearby in Washington. So many amazing photographers and associated talent put me in awe. I never thought I could be even half as good as these photographers were. The only problem was that these people were 2 hours from where I lived. I needed help so I created my own Facebook group called The Mid Valley Photographers. From this amazing group of photographers I was finally able to ask questions and get answers. We would go out shooting together, or as I call it “playing”. We all learned together, asked questions and bounced ideas off each other. We continue to go for “walk-a-bouts” and planning and shooting theme shoots. I am so proud to see the talent of these amazing photographers keep growing!! And that professional growth certainly includes me. I remember when it was so hard for me to understand why you use what settings and when. Then you add lighting in the mix...holy cow!!! Whenever I am approached by someone who may need help, I teach them what I can. I love seeing that light bulb go off in their head when the understanding hits! I try to do what I can to pay it forward, out of respect to those who helped me along my way. I do not know everything out there, but I teach what I know and we all grow together. This is my passion, my relaxation, my stress release and anything else you can call it. I love to shoot anything that gets in front of my camera. I originally started shooting eagles. I figured if I could get one fully in flight, sharp and in focus, that would mean I knew how to work my camera. I now have a collection of Pacific Northwest eagles that is just amazing, so that to me is validation that I know how to use my camera! I love landscapes and portraits. I think portraits are my favorite, because I love head shots. The eyes say so much and when you can capture that story, it is amazing!

I tell the people I teach that if they have a vision in their head when looking through the viewfinder, and see that vision come to life they have perfection. I love to see the perfection I create.

I do have to give credit to a few people who have given the time to let me tag along on shoots to ask questions.. The amazing Hal Harrison of Rose City Photography. You gave your time and knowledge to a newbie and never expected anything in return. You taught me about paying it forward, and showed me what a gift that is. I thank you for that. Nancy Micheals you are amazing and I can’t tell you how much I learned from watching you. John Hayes, you drove an hour to teach me and you did that twice! That meant so much to me! You and Nancy got me ready to shoot country star Trace Atkins. You also showed me that I was solid enough to quit questioning myself. I thank you both!

Without the support of my wonderful husband Wally, I would never have been able to achieve what I have as of today, so thanks Wally! I can now say that I am a photographer. I have been published in several online fashion magazines as well as Western Horse and Gun (formulary Western Shooting Horse) magazine. I am largely self-taught and I have faced many struggles along the way with many more struggles to come. And yet, I look forward to so much learning to see what perfection I have yet to create! Yes, I am a photographer.

When I froze in front of Amy’s camera, I escaped from where I was at, as if I were in a samurai training grounds surrounded by cherry blossoms. As I looked into the sky, changing from day to night, what lies for me in the dark.

My life is a roller coaster ride. Exciting, suspenseful, and fun! I absolutely love my life. To stay calm and relaxed so I can handle anything that comes my way, I do yoga. I especially love to do yoga outside, in the morning. Being outdoors is so relaxing for me, and doing yoga helps relieve tension in my muscles, which helps me wake up and get going in the morning! I love finding beauty products that can be used for so many different things.

This one comes in a jar, and you will probably find it in your kitchen pantry in a cool dark place. One of my favorite beauty secrets is Coconut oil. It is the all encompassing magical gift from mother nature. Not only is it great to cook with and eat but it can be used on virtually any part of your body with numerous benefits. Its beyond safe enough to use on your children for any kind of dry skin (I happen to have one and have used it on her since she was a baby). It is an amazing moisturizer, while it feeds your skin with nutrients it leaves you smooth as silk. I love putting it on my entire body before I get in the shower. Whats great is that once your in the shower shaving becomes that much easier and effective and it smells delicious!!! Shower normally and even after you use soap you will still feel the amazing effects of the coconut on your skin. Please be careful not to slip and get the floor all greasy, keep it ankles and up!!! Once you get in bed and relax then you can rub some on your feet. Don’t stop there! While you are at it throw some up in your hair, Its the best leave in conditioner. Let it sit for a while and then once you’re showering, shampoo and condition it out like you normally would and enjoy your lovely locks. Its my favorite face cream, after I wash my face I take a dime size amount and massage it into my skin. It will make you glow. Take a spoon full and let it melt in your mouth first, then swish it around for a while ( at least 10 minutes but can be done up to 30). Not only are you helping smooth out any wrinkles or lines around the outside of your mouth by swishing the oil around you can pull out stuff all inside your mouth cleaning everything with a delicious after taste once you spit it all out. On a personal note, it is absolutely the best lubricant around if you catch my drift. It can be used as a delightful massage oil and intimacy lube. I promise you won’t be disappointed. I love it, swear by it, and encourage you to try it. Organic and extra virgin is what to look for but any kind will do, find the one thats right for you!

Nigeria & other part of Africa, most people used lace fabrics to sew curtains, tablecloth.

Lace are always trimmings on fancy dresses or lingerie, wedding dresses and some other occasion wears. Lace is one of Nigerian women’s best friends. Grace & Thomas Essien
