Night Light

I look out my window As I lay in bed And a peace falls over me Not unlike the pearly powder Laying on the tiles of my backyard Or the shaggy mounds of fluff Weighing down the pine trees in the distance

My alarm clock reads 1:13 But the night sky Is as bright as day The pellets of white Reflecting back up to where they came from A mellow glow A secret glimmer That whispers a promise of acceptance A vow of security

I let the light Carry me to sleep
