Proposed structural plan Physical integration Physical linkages in the form of pedestrian subways, semi basement as hawkers plaza, vertical cores of the buildings for the connections & relationship to the commercial , shopping, residential and other important functions, in prime urban location, through use of horizontal & vertical operating at different levels. As the major issue in this project was to control & as well channelize the volume.

Functional integration Free movement of the pedestrian & vehicular from one side to other, through facilities like hawkers plaza, shopping mall, offices, theater, residential building, library etc. To maintain the continuity of the functions.

Visual integration Vertical circulations of the development are in cylindrical shape in glass just to create a visual component, pedestrian subways were to enhance the vehicular movement as well as to have a clear view of station and the building. The three main parts of the development are commercial block, office block and residential block to visual enhance each one and also show it as part of single development. n.c.kelkar road have a glass facade to showcase the movie poster, at the corner the building was opened up just to make it more inviting. The ranade road side have a staggered look with huge cutouts made specially eating places.

Structural Plan

Description: Collective Repositioning The New SPA Vasant Kunj campus competition comes at a very critical point when the whole world is questioning the aspects and relevance of globalization in local conditions. The new campus stands a great opportunity to reposition freedom as a concept of transformative architecture for 21st century India. Our proposal intermediate between institutions and public realm by: _ creating an inspirational paradigm of architectural discourse for the modern India _ representing future collective organization in an experiential manner _ redefining relations between identities and ecology _ embedding timeless architectonic purity in the capital city

Sovereignty of freedom The masterplan proposes the built programs and infrastructure to be integrated into one architectonic system, where a distinct typological adoption for the academic and the housing block maintains the individual sanctity. The typologies maximize the public realm at ground level by interweaving ecological systems and positioning of built mass with free planning systems. The academic block withholds its institutional sovereignty from the programmatic organization and by unifying the individual identities within. The proposed site for The New SPA Campus imposes the challenge of bridging and integrating the trench with the overall planning. The site also shows good potentials to utilize vegetation at both higher lower planes. The main gradient of water percolation system along with the site gradient sets guidelines for the water supply and drainage systems. Further the lowest point of the site becomes catchment area for rain water harvesting. The eastern part of the site being at higher altitude and being more close to the main access provides a better opportunity to achieve higher visibility for the academic block.

The academic block represents a collective organization of functions for an institutional building, enveloped within bare climatic and structural form work. The given requirements are regrouped categorically as studio, department, workshop and facility to emerge as a truly interdisciplinary institute. While positioning the regrouped functions on site with regard to the strategies developed, the studio spaces are organized on top floor as a free plan supported by departments and class rooms beneath. The 1st floor is dedicated for departmental research centers with large seminar halls and flexible exhibition space that also act as a podium for the institute. To enhance the public character at 1st floor, it is provided with viewing galleries which visually interconnects the whole site with the institution and climatically allows cross ventilation for the building. Galleries in combination with the 5 light courts, creates a spatial solidarity for the user.

The courts also act as a device to integrate institution by the overlooking spaces and embedding the vertical connections within. All the workshops and the main entrance lobby to the auditorium are placed at the ground level for easy accessibility and higher efficiency. Facilities like library, computer center, canteen and administration are put within 2 levels below the ground looking into the trench. This establishes a stronger relation for the building with the trench and also creates a silent zone for the activities. The canteen is so located at the 1st basement that the students can also enjoy eating in the open trench and doesn't disturb the neighboring functions. The eastern part of the basement floors are utilized to cater the parking requirements of 1.33ECR whose internal connections to the building are also provided from section bb the courts itself.

hostel block Housing for students also defines a collective way of living in the society, where instead of defining the 1100 units as PG and UG blocks the proposal inter mingles them in two variants of with toilet and without toilet units. The openness of the structure and overhangs connectors forms a lattice framework interconnecting the units. The lattice also creates interesting open courts for all the units for adequate ventilation and overlooking ground activities. The open spaces have their individual character and at the same time unified by the lattice built for. The distribution passages facilitate both the units, common toilet block and spillover spaces overlooking into the courts. All the common facilities like dining hall, campus center and sports areas are provided at the ground level to generate higher activity at that level. The students housing is maximized in number by using doubly loaded corridor. To support cross ventilation in such planning, the housing is provided with double height terrace which also becomes interactive spaces for students. In plan every housing zones is provided with staggering terraces opening in different directions to provide a better utility and a different views towards the campus. The housing so formed is quite introvert in nature but at the same time it is also extrovert by providing views towards the academic building.

STUDIO AMITA VIKRANT is a London based international architecture and design studio producing highly original, experimental and multidisciplinary work. Established in 2009, SAV has completed several award winning design projects in London recently expanding to gain major urban, architectural and interior projects across Europe, India and Asia. The studio practices ‘design as research’ integrating innovative processes of digital designing and fabrication technology into their projects as well as experimenting in new forms and typologies to create unique designs for every project. As adesign driven studio, SAV works towards creating new urban and sustainable strategies for regeneration of existing urban infrastructures as well as forming innovative conceptual frameworks for emerging cities and masterplans. Along with their architectural work, SAV also explores material and technological possibilities by constantly testing designs at smaller scales through the design of exclusive furniture and design objects, collaborating with manufacturers and suppliers to push the boundaries of their fabrication techniques. Drawing inspiration from all disciplines the practice creates platforms with flexible and open sources, delivering designs that constantly question and critically appraise the discourse of architecture and the wider agendas that encompass the world of the 21st century. Both of the partners are educated at the renowned AA School of Architecture in London gaining design and project experience in highly acclaimed London based architectural practices like Foster and Partners and Zaha Hadid Architects working on a variety of exclusive high-rises, residential, commercial, cultural and masterplan projects. Due to their cross cultural background and education, both partners have a strong insight into the emerging world economies as well as an established experience within the construction and design industries of the developed world. The partners are also the co-founders of the spatial typography lab, TextFields and curators for the successful London based art/event space, The Corridor giving them an insight in collaborations between art, architecture and design. 2012

To create, improve, modify spaces which people employ to meet their variegated needs. To meet them above their expectations and create confines that is brought into existence, to specifically meet these needs… and to go much beyond. Where every brick, every apparent recess and even an artistic arch is glowing representative of functionality… rich with meaning, beauty and is enduringly enticing in its very own way… To create structures that comes alive as personas, where each tells a story about its existence. Why it stands that way it stands… satisfying those utilizing it and paying a masterly tribute to the man who conceived and brought it to existence… That's why I choose to be an Architect…Simply for the joy of adding to this world something meaningful… The Folio is an attempt to the Architectural exposure and growth I had in all this years of my college and professional life. I also had an opportunity to explore my architecture vision by roaming around in London, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat and all over India. The Folio only covers those projects which opened my mind towards different aspects of Architecture. Experience apart, I think it’s the extended support and love of my Parents, Family, Faculty Members and Friends that gave me courage to explore new ideas in reality
