NEWCOMERS ORIENTATION

Thursdays • 10–11 a.m. A mandatory briefing for those deploying or going TDY for more than 30 days. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend to learn about the different challenges they may experience and the resources available to ease deployment related stress. Registration is required.

REINTEGRATION BRIEFING

Thursdays • 11 a.m.–12 p.m. A mandatory briefing for those returning from deployment. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend to understand the five stages of reintegration and how to best cope with the new normal. Registration is required.

PERSONAL & WORK LIFE PRE-SEPARATION BRIEFING

Thu • 8 & 22 Sep • 9–10 a.m. Pre-separation counseling should be accomplished early in the transition process, but no later than 365 days from separation. This briefing ensures members are informed of their entitlements and benefits they may be eligible for to assist them, their family members and significant others with the transition to civilian life.

DOD TRANSITION DAY

Tue • 13 & 27 Sep • 8 a.m.–4 p.m. DoD Transition Day provides an overview of skills and information to help members prepare for their transition and is broken into three modules, which will walk members through their transition concerns through the separation/ retirement process, how to translate their military careers to the civilian workforce and how to financially plan for their future post-separation/ retirement. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR EMPLOYMENT FUNDAMENTALS OF CAREER TRANSITION (EFCT)

Fri •16 Sep • 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Learn about the fundamentals of civilian employment from the Department of Labor. Members will obtain information about planning next steps and selecting a career, preparing for success, using LinkedIn and navigating jobs in the civilian sector. To register, contact the A&FRC.

VA BENEFITS AND SERVICES

Fri • 23 Sep • 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Members will be provided with information about their benefits as a veteran from a Veteran’s Affairs advisor. Members will learn about how to support themselves and their family, getting career ready, finding a place to live, maintaining their health and connecting with their community. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR EMPLOYMENT WORKSHOP

Mon & Tue • 19 & 20 Sep • 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Take a deeper look into the civilian workforce with the Department of Labor’s two-day employment track. In this workshop, members will dive into greater detail on all transitions to a civilian career, from resume building through employment. To register, contact the A&FRC.

DEPARTMENT OF STATE RECRUITMENT EVENT

Thu • 8 Sep • 12–4 p.m. The Department of State from the Tokyo Embassy will be hosting a panel to speak about their positions and experiences, including an address from key note speaker Alexei Kral. Members will be given the chance to split into breakout rooms to discuss specific areas of employment, such as IT, maintenance and administration careers. Following the breakout discussions, there will be a Q&A and a Diplomat in Residence to speak to those in attendance.
