What is the NERVOUS SYSTEM? â–Ş The system through which we SEND and RECEIVE information.
2 Main parts of the Nervous System
Central Nervous System It consists of the brain and the spinal cord.
Peripheral Nervous System It consists of the nerves.
Organs of the Nervous System
Parts of the Brain Controls voluntary movements
Coordinates movements and controls balance.
Communicates the brain with the spinal cord
Types of Movement REFLEX MOVEMENTS - These movements happen automatically. These are involuntary movements which happen as a result of external stimuli.
VOLUNTARY MOVEMENTS These movements happen when
we make decisions.

Reflexes Reflexes are used to protect our body. Reflexes happen automatically! They help us to stay away from things that might hurt us. For example: When we feel the heat from a fire, we immediately move our hands away before we get burnt!
