Manfrotto 222 Joystick Head Replaces Survey I love my joystick head! It is very intuitive, squeeze the trigger, move it around, and then release it when you've got the camera where you want it. While initially I could move my 5d and 70-200 lens around with this tripod head, even after releasing the trigger, a few twists of a screw made it completely stable. Highly recommend. . . . I've never particularly liked ball tripod heads before, but a friend purchased this one and with our first day of shooting in the field, I was convinced I had to try this out. The best thing about this product is that it simplifies adjustment of the head from three steps to one step. You spend more time taking photos rather than getting ready to take photos. If you are looking for a nice grip to put on your legs this grip is it. Solid, heavy duty and swivels with ease. I attach my Canon 50D with 70-200 lens and supports great. I can even turn sideways and holds firm. Pros: Well built, solid construction Simple to attach and use No drift Cons Heavy This grip doubled the weight of my carbon fiber legs but I still highly recommend because of the functionality. Most of the time we use these ball heads for group photos or in studio portraits and they work perfect. Combine with the tripod legs, this units get a bit heavy, so if you are considering traveling look for another lighter combination. If you have them indoors or you will use them close to your car it is a solid piece of equipment. Ok so if your an Amateur Photographer like me then you may not be aware that this head won't fit just any tripod. If your camera can fit on the tripod now without the head then this head won't fit on the tripod. What I mean is that the tripod your using has to have a 3/8" threded screw, because it is bigger, to fit the bottom of this head instead of the 1/4-20" (witch is what your camera takes). Luckaly after some reasearch I have found out that you can buy a threaded adapter insert if you don't want to buy a more profesional tripod. The screw on the top of the joystick is a 1/4-20" so yes it will fit your camera so don't worry. After you get the head on the right tripod and the the camera on the head the only thing you might ever see a problem with is that where the head connects to the pivoting ball, if your camera or lens is too heavy, the clamps wont grip right so the head will slip and slide as gravity pulls it down. Also If your hands arint strong then you may find the lever a bit tough expecially if you have to reset the head alot. I don't really mind it but my wife seems to have a little bit of difficulty adjusting its position. Overall I highly recommend this product unless you have heavy equipment.
